  1. I am new to this forum and just wanted to send a blanket thanks for all the great help I have found. In the past month I have found info on this forum to complete the following work on my 2006 RSV; 1) De-tag my bike 2) Fix my sticking cruise control 3) Fixed the wobble by tightening the steerting head bearing 4) Replace the tips on my bub exhaust 5) Re-packed my baffles 6) Replace my front speakers with Polk db401 7) Added bass reducing capitors on the Polks 8) Fixed my radio by cleaning all electrical contacts with dieltrical grease. I think that is about it and all of these things I was able to do from information found from other memebers willing to share knowledge. Thanks to all!!
  2. Hi all. I had an unfortunate collision today. I'm fine but the bike took a hit. I'm looking for a right lower cowling and a passing lamp assembly. Nothing on eBay. I checked the OEM listing and they want $245 for the lower. I haven't been able to fine the passing lamps. If anyone has any or knows a good place to purchase please let me know. I'd like to get her fixed ASAP. Thanks for any help.
  3. Just got thru watching a recording of the Olympic Opening from last night. Lasted too late for this old guy. Anyway I was blown away by the production... The only thing I missed was the lightening of the torch. Did anyone here stay up to see if they got the glitch fixed? My recording chopped off the end due to the time over run. What ever happened, great job CANADA....:thumbsup2:
  4. I received from a Member here, an original antenna for my Midnight venture. Because the first owner installed a short rubber antenna . The antenna that I received has only a short piece of antenna cable left...what is the best way to have this fixed. (See picture of the antenna) Or is there a way that I can take the mount of the antenna apart. To install the cable that is on my bike. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a372/color01joy/P1020077.jpg
  5. It always feels good when you have put off something and then finally get to it and get it done. Well, I had put off splitting the fairing even though I have done it at least 4 times before. I just did not want to do it. I had to figure out why my right front running light did not work. The turn signal worked, but no running light. The visor on the headlight also need to be fixed. Well I finally got around to it Saturday night. Split the fairing, and fixed the visor. That was the simple part. Took all the wiring apart that runs to the passing lamps and found a broken wire that made the running lights work. Put everything back together and it all works. Oh what a feeling to finally get it done. Just thought I would share. Have a great day if you want to.
  6. Hey all: have RK slip ons from an 08 roadking. Totally gutted them out including catalytic converter drilled out. Then right after installing them I changed plugs and then the popping on deceleration began. Also would pop when shifting up from 1st to 2nd. Well to make a a long story short had a carb sync done today and guess what, they were off and that has fixed the problem. No more popping and pipes sound great, really roar when getting on them. I do not have the AIS plugged. So for all that may be having popping issues, try to get a carb sync and should fix your problem. Oh, I have an 07 Midnight RSV with 11, 000 miles on her. Brian D.
  7. I have a 2000 venture and it whines. Why do they whine? Can this be fixed?
  8. Well the bike will be sent to the dealer at Sumter to fix the vacum leak under warranty. Fixed the helmet speakers on Wanderer's helmet too. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Mini%20MD%2020090613/
  9. OK folks...please don't make this political..I just thought it was an interesting concept and since I'm 54 years old, it WORKS for me. Now I'm just offering it up in the spirit of fun. I didn't take the time to check out the numbers and all that mess. Don't know if it all adds up or not but I doubt it. This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I thought this was the BEST idea. I think this guy nailed it! Dear Mr. President, Patriotic retirement: There's about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million apiece severance with three stipulations: 1. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed. All National financial problems fixed!!!

I am thinking of buying a new 4 door pickup. I'd prefer one of the smaller ones not a full size. Is there anyone that has one and would you recommend it? What kind of mileage do you get? The Dodge Dakota has my interest but I read horror stories about the bad front ends on them. Have they fixed it so this doesn't happen? Plus will Chrysler weather the storm to be in business. What do you think? I am not completely sold on the Dodge any brand will due as long as it has 4 doors.
  11. All, I have owned or frequently driven a variety of full dressers over the last 25 years, including an XS1100, 1983 1st gen and the last being a 2003 GL1800A that I had to sell to put on a new roof in the last state I lived in. I am trying to decide between a new GL1800A, K1200LT, and Venture. The pricing of the Venture and what it comes with are really attracting me, but the many posts (including '07 and '08 models) about the clutch Chirp and Gear Whine bother me, not so much because they occurred, but because it appears they cant be completely fixed and the respective dealers end up saying that is just how the bike is. Have these problems been fixed or not? If I buy a 2009 RSV and have the problem, can it be completely fixed? I would not be a happy camper spending that amount of money and having to live with such noises.
  12. Has any one els had a problem with the kickstand safety switch going on when they were running down the road? If so how can this be fixed , not a good feeling when motor shuts down because of it. HELP:detective:
  13. I meet a new RSV owner yesterday. He had bought a brand new 08 black chery/black a very pretty bike. we got to talking and i gave him a card for the site. he said he loved the bike but he didnt like the noise coming from the motor told him it might not be the engine but the chirp that we all had or have but then i got to thinking that read on here that Yamaha fixed that problem on the 07 or 08 was i right or not but any i told him to take it back and have them check it out any way. I am sure i will run into him and his very nice wife again seeing how they are only an hour away.
  14. I've just started to notice a backfire when I downshift hard. I haven't done anything to the carbs so I thought it mights have something to do with that. Can this generally be fixed by syncing?
  15. Hi all, I have a problem with my CB. I have had my trunk off for awhile and I put it back on yesterday. After install I was checking to make sure everything worked and when I got to the CB I got a "CBer" on my display. When I first pushed the CB button the light on the display would come on and just for a half-second the CB channel would display and then I would get the error. I believe it has always done this but I've never used the CB so I was not concerned about it. Until, on the Alabama M&E I saw how handy it could be so now I'm wanting to get it fixed. Any Ideas?
  16. Well I go to the doctor today and get my finger checked out. It is called a trigger finger. It will snap down on the palm of my hand and then I have to grab it and pull it back up. It is all swollen right now. It might not work to good come riding season so I figured I better get it fixed now while it's cold out. Has anyone ever had this problem? Buy the way of all fingers, it is the middle one.
  17. Just wanted to thank everyone again for all the well wishes and prayers being sent our way. We are walking out the door to get Lonnas Collarbone fixed. I will get word back to the site as soon as I can...Thank you again
  18. I have owned a couple of sport touring bikes. What I always liked about them was the fixed fairings. I could go 90 mph, hold the handle bar with one hand while resting the other hand on my hip, and go as straight as an arrow, cutting through wind like a knife. I also owned a Harley. You couldn't ride a Harley like that. It was both hands on the bar. It always felt as if the handlbars would rip out of my hands when I rode with one hand. The RSV does not have a fixed fairing. I suspect the feeling is going to be similar to riding a Harley. I am almost sure of it. Would someone comment on this?
  19. I have a '99 RSV and have had no problems with it for the 3 months that I have owned it. However, recently when I am out riding and am running the bike under load (climbing a hill or accelerating from a dead stop) the speakers cut out. It only does this under load. I thought it might be the MP3 jack because that is what I am usually listening to but it does it whether I am listening to the radio or a CD as well. I am leaving this Sunday on a trip and would like it fixed before then. As far as I know there have not been any aftermarket mods done to the stereo. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
