we want to put a dvd together of all the happenings at the 09 rally, like floyd has done in the past. floyd if your interested you have the job. if not we need some one with the talent of gathering everyones photo's and videos of the meet and editing them into a dvd with music so the members can have one after it's all over for memories. floyd has done a couple of these and they were awesome. we also need some one to take top quality meet pictures. i know we have alot of talented photographers out there so let me know. bill

before all the excitement over this years st. jude ride fades away. i would like to come up with a challenge for the 2009 rally. anyone got any ideas. since dragonrider was the one who originally got the st. jude ball rolling on the site, and he is going to do vogel again next year we could combine the 09 rally and vogel in the challenge some how. then donate the money again next year like we did the last two years, with an end of the season ride to memphis. the ride had double the attendence this year. i will donate myself as one of the fallguys. as long as it don't hurt.this old body won't handle anymore pain. i could handle a tattoo, but no torture. lol. lets have some ideas. we are going to do a 50/50 for st. jude at the rally. folks these things get to be alot of fun once you get involved, and it's for one heck of a good cause. we, the 2009 rally committee are open for ideas, so have at it. bill :clap2:

sorry, can't imagine how many thousands of cars and bikes have hit the weeds on that curve. kind of puckered me up. i probably would still be riding around out in the weeds if i would,nt have stayed on the road.lol bill

i was just sitting here at the keyboard and the picture of lewis coming off the highway at a turn off near memphis, flashed in my mind. although it was'nt funny at the time it makes me chuckle now. it was a 90 degree off ramp and lewis hit the weeds. dust and crap was flying everywhere. luckily he got back on the pavement safely. i almost followed him on my wing. luckily all the debris flying caught my attention and i stayed on the road. sorry lewis not to good with secrets. reason it made me laugh is the same thing happened years ago with a buddy of mine as he missed a turn at 50 mph and i saw the same picture. luckily we sat over a beer later and laughed about it. bill

yep, lewis is one fine fellow, really got to know him this weekend. he's the one that got me interested in st.jude from the git go a couple of years ago. we will do this again next year, if i got anything to say about it. since i am heading up the 2009 rally and lewis is doing vogel again maybe we can come up with a challenge for next year between the two meets. i'm ready to go back to memphis already. we have already decided to sell 50-50 tickets at the 09 rally. i will think up some kind of challenge. we are open for ideas. bill :clap2::clap2:

just got back from memphis and st. jude. what a pleasure to spend the weekend with a group of the finest people in the world. we had 19 bikes, not sure how many people. so many neat things to tell about could'nt begin to cover them all. we went to ronald mcdonald house and it was awesome. lots of pic's were taken. went to harrahs in tunica miss. last night with dragonrider, b2 dad, b2 mom, and their son. this was one of the highlights of the trip. b2dads son road in on a zx14 crotch rocket, looked like a young and very handsome yul brynner. whan i first met him, i said oh one of them crotch rocket riders huh? then said just kidding. i have one just like it. any way we ate the buffet at harrahs. and b2's son had to leave to head for home. he was one of those kid's that just seemed to have a certain carisma about him. could'nt put my finger on it. got to talking about him and to my surprise he was not mid twenties like he appeared but mid thirties with kids. here's the kicker. he was the pilot and captain of his own b2 stealth bomber. i was totally blown away, as i think dragonrider was. i have a new hero in life to put next to my other hero audy murphy. what a great guy. mayby b2dad will come on here and elaborate. anyway lewis and i shared a room and when leaving memphis we met 2 couples at the motel on harleys and one must have been a minister cuz he blessed all of our trips home and our bikes. must have worked cuz i had a great trip home and a great time with all my venture rider friends. bill :clap2::clap2:

i agree thems called chicken strips. when you get that back tire down to a chicken strip of a 1/4 inch or less they're broke in and ready for heavy duty riding. if you ride with this bunch they will narrow them chicken strips real fast for you. we got some real roadracers on here, like wingman, muffinman, and swifty ,to name a few. if you can stay with them your avons pass the test. bill
-
pushed my avons to the limit many times no problem. got to get some miles on them. i hit some anti freeze on my wing a couple of weeks ago, and had it sideways. maybe you did that. don't think you can top them avons.

as minimuffin said it's covered on warranty. what causes it is they don't lube the pins that go into the rubber hub damper, and they get a light coat of rust on them. they don't get carried away lubing the spline either. i lubed my spline and forgot to do the pins and it still clicked. won't hurt a thing , just annoying. i used high temp disc brake caliper lube from autozone. it is a thick black paste that contains moly, and grafite, and will not sling off. it could cause your clutch to slip. lol.

i will probably leave home about 4:30 am, so i can take my time. i could meet you at exit 93 on 55. hard to tell what time. may be around 7am. bill

i got an alaskan sheep skin a couple of years ago and it works great year round.

fiberglass is old school. abs is high tech and more affordable. i think the new kaw is really sharp but it ain't no wing. got to say the wing sets the touring standard. ps. not just saying that cuz i have one, but if you own one and get to be a part of it there's no where else to go. got to put some miles on a wing to appreciate the total package. around the block don't cut it.

you don't have time to ride anyway. your supposed to be working on the 09 rally. :rotf:
