since the st. charles meet and eat was so much fun and successful the last three years. i have decided to make it a regular 3 day meet. there is something which we have missed in the last meets that people will enjoy. thursday the first day of the meet we will visit some of the neat stuff in historic downtown st. charles and those wanting to hit the casinos can do that. all this stuff is about 5 minutes from the motels. friday we will do our hannibal ride with a different scenic route, and dinner at a great pizza house. saturday will be the scenic ride to herman, mo. to visit the wineries and back to my house for the barbeque. as usual wed. night at my house for pie and coffee for early arrivals. the dates are 7th, 8th, and 9th, of may, 2009. i will post motels and more details when i get it all together. this overides my earlier post. hope to see a bunch there. bill

been noticing alot of new folks posting on here. thats great. hope my previous post helped get a few off the fence. keep coming folks, throw in your 2 cents worth. thats what this site is all about commaraderie, and friendship. we don't care what you ride as long as you like bikes. if you need tech info we can help on most any brand. if you need help on the road there is always a venture rider close by. if you need moral support we have that to. best site and people on the net. i ride a wing and can't find a wing site anywhere with the caring people we have here. so all these folks unfortionately have to put up with me. i do have a couple of yammers where no one can see them.lol. we want to here from you. and we want you to come to our 2009 international rally at the hub in ar. what a sneaky way to plug a meet. really we want everyone there, and to participate on here. snarley bill :clap2::clap2:

never was a gambler and only played with the stock market one time. i kind of am a believer in assets i can put my hands on like motorcycles and gold. got the bikes but not the gold. was going to run on the bank a couple of weeks ago, but i may need that $300.00 down the road. may invest in one of those rare new v-maxes. how can a guy lose on a deal like that. think what it will be worth in 100 years. :rotf:

the bottom line is all the safety equipment and skill in the world is not fool proof. when the main man wants you he's going to take you. i just protect myself the best i can and try to enjoy my life to the fullest. i try to be safe but not a fanatic about it. there's only one sure way to prevent a motorcycle accident and that is don't ride one. you can get abs ,air bags, wear all the protective clothing in the world and get killed by an avalanche in a twisty. my kind of luck. when my time comes there ain't a thing i can do about it. and it is getting closer every year. bill

had some close calls but lucked out and everone came through as planned. got soaked on some out of the country postage. it was my own fault. feel like i'm on borrowed time. of all my transactions on ebay ,they have been almost picture perfect. even sold 4 bikes on ebay for big money and they went smooth as glass. i really work hard to maintain 100% positive feed back. touch and go once in while but i'm still hangin in there.

i ride every saturday morning. around a hundred or more miles. bus usually leaves around 5 or 6am. going to take off tomorrow morning to work on my bikes. if you want to ride tomorrow afternoon i have a couple of free hours. linda has to go to a baby shower. do you want to meet me at donelsons on the rock road in the early afternoon. he is a triumph dealer. good to here from you buddy. don't stay away so long. haven't had a major catastrophe in my garage for awhile. lol. bill ps. if you can take the cold i'm ready to ride any saturday, or sunday morning. just give me a holler.

brad, no doubt about it ,the 130 is more sensitive to rider input. i noticed that right off the bat. the 150 has a more luxury feel. i figure what ever the rider prefers. for me was the low speed stability with my bad legs was better with the 130's. i did like the 150's better on the straights. the 130's definately give the bike a sportier handling characteristic, which i prefer. still think 46 psi in the front is out of sight, and dangerous. bill

okay, here are the dates for my st. charles meet, eat, and ride. i have decided to make it 2 days next year,so people that come along way have plenty of time to settle in and enjoy it. the dates are, may 8th, and 9th 2009. thats friday and saturday. we will have a great ride of about 200 miles each day and a final barbeque at my house saturday evening. i will have more details, and motels listed soon. those that have been here can make reservations at the same motels. you ain't going to believe this meet. i am going to give it my all as usual, so put it on your calender. bill :clap2:

46 psi is a very excessive amount for any front tire. almost to the point of being dangerous. i would never go over 39 psi in the front. and 41 in the rear. a wing that outweighs a venture and has a 130 tire oem, has a max pressure recommendation of 36 psi front and 41 psi rear full load. tires aren't something to play with and second guess the factory on. i would'nt go over 36 in the front on the venture with a 130. that should be plenty. there aren't very many bikes out there that use a 150 front tire. really never understood why yamaha chose to do it. guess to give the bike a heavy more sluggish luxury feel.

whats the matter with linked brakes i have linked brakes on my wing. just kidding. in a way you are right. mine work great have never had a problem with them but i do get concerned going down hill on gravel. never had a problem but if i did i would not be able to let off the front brake if the wheel started to slip. the linked brakes with anti dive is a whole new feel. under every day riding conditions and the way honda set it up it works great and feels good stopping with the bike perfectly level. the theory is there is less weight transfer off the rear wheel giving more traction in the rear on a panic stop. the rear brake pedal only works on one caliper in the front. the handle bar lever operates the other one. you really can't tell they are linked, but the anti dive is the best i have ever had. it is very noticeable. would i rather have the brakes unlinked? not really, they work fine for me the way they are. the rear brake controls the antidive. i have learned to control the antidive with the rear brake pedal so i can release it with the brakes on when going over big bumps at parking lot speeds. honda engineered it to work right. i still feel like i have total brake control at all times. just a little leary on gravel once in awhile. bill

i have no use whatsoever for anti lock brakes. i had a crash in a mini van ,head on into a suv one night because i could not stop with the anti lock brakes. they take away all of your personal ability to control the brakes. i was standing on the brakes as hard as i could and just kept rolling. one hell of a feeling. no brake control at all. i figure skill and not panicking in a stop is an important asset. most bikes excluding sport bikes have to much rear brake to start with. the rear brake on a bike is of very little use in a panic stop and will get you in trouble very fast. sport bike rear brake are designed for trail braking only and it is next to impossible to lock up the rear wheel. my answer to abs, is learn how to use your brakes in an emergency situation. it is part of being a good rider. abs is a bandaid for inexperience. just my 2 cents. snarley bill
