  1. i have the same problem all the time. i need to run a couple of wires on my nomad. for oil pressure and power outlet. i just got an idea. take the tank off one time and run a small diameter piece of soft copper tubing along the frame, and secure it with nylon ties. bend it to follow the curve accordingly. flare the ends. then any time you need to run a wire just shove it through the tubing. could work. i think i'll try it. you can also use a piece of baling wire and feed it through then put a loop in the end and pull the wire through. i did that on my wing. it was a ***** but it worked. bill
  2. sounds like he's getting bored. :rotf:
  3. congrads on the new wing. you will love it. hey one of our moderators has a wing and he ain't been fired yet. i have a wing and they can't run me off. enjoy the ride, i sure do. bill
  4. left at 5 am and got home at 8pm. 645 miles. round trip. the old siatic nerve was hurting, but i made it. i think i could do the iron butt. if i was ten years younger.lol. we had a good group and a great time. the weather was perfect.

  8. wrongway and dee left my house about 1pm today got them all hooked up with my trailer on the motorhome, and bike loaded. they should be in memphis now. i will be winging it about 5am saturday morning. should be at flying j sat. at 11 am. can't wait. weather is looking great. see you all there. be careful. :clap2:
  9. no reciepts needed. if they give you any crap on warranty sue them. do all your own work. half the fun of riding is working on your own bike. only thing i let the dealer do on mine is recalls. i won't even take it to the dealer for a state inspection. $70.00 an hour to look at my bike. just crazy. if you can start a mower and mow your lawn you can get a book and some tools and fix your own bike. great learning experience.
  10. whether you venture owners believe it or not you have one of the finest bikes ever built and you won't get more bang for the buck. i hear more bashing from the folks that own them than from outsiders. i've had alot of bikes and none of them were perfect. i loved every last one of them. be glad you have what you have chirp and all. it's a great bike. i would buy another one if i had the room and money. :clap2:
  11. we got you covered buddy. glad you had that helmet on. sounds like the main man is taking care of you. bill
  12. i'm heading out of st. louis down hwy.55 saturday morning at 5am. any one going that route want to meet up and ride together. let me know where and when. bill
  13. i'm thinking the 3rd gen will be base priced over $20,000. the base on my 08 wing was $19,750 cheapest model. i figure the new wing and venture will be well over 20 grand base. people will pay it. they buy harleys, don't they? i have seen screamijng eagle ultras for $35, 000 and they are gone. some one bought them. if you want to play , these companies will make you pay or you do without. it's rediculous but thats business. if i want one i will pay. thats why i earn money, so i can get the neat things i want. crazy? yes but thats what life is all about. :cool10:
  14. darn joe i'm going to make a believer out of you yet. the v-max is a test vehical for the experienced motorcyclist. it's just like the dn01 honda priced out of site to keep it in the hands of the people in the know. they want experienced riders to try it so they can get feedback on the motor reliability and the aluminum frame. they don't want kids on it. this is all about test marketing. yamaha knows they are going to lose money on the max. the max is a test bed for a long run on a totally new 3rd gen just like the original v-max was for all the ventures that followed. you have to think future if your going to make money in big time manufacturing. yamaha wants to get it right the first time around. they have a big act to follow with the new wing coming out. get ready for culpeppers. i'm a big eater.:rotf:
  15. hey mini, i have this here cummins powered auger. i do bug removal cheap. free for venture riders. if you can ship the ear to missouri ,i have a fast turnaround. at least you don't have a bee in your bonnet. :rotf: hope every thing comes out alright.
  16. sounds like a good group of folks. not much bike bashing over there. pretty square thinkers, and i happen to be a member.
  17. be patient. the big new yammer is in the works. i'm still thinking 2011 and it will be a winner. don't even expect that new 1800 motor in a 2nd gen. it will be an all new aluminum frame bike with that 1800 motor as a stressed member. thats the way the motor was designed. notice the v-max frame. thats the trend now for a more rigid frame and more sportbike like handling. they don't care about us old farts. they have an upcoming generation that they have to cater to. thats where the future bucks are. if there is a future. they will time it with the all new from the ground up wing. it should be released in 2011 also, from what i here the new wing is going to be ultra, ultra high tech. yamaha will have to let it all hang out to get the chunk of the market they are wanting. i think yamaha and honda will blow everyone else away in the touring line up in 2011.
  18. sure are pretty. when you going to put it in the garage. :clap2: ps. i'm still betting on my free meal at culpeppers.
  19. i have never ever felt inferior to a harley rider cuz i always had a better bike. i had 4 harleys, and i'm not knocking harleys, but the three road bikes i have now are far superior to any harley in technology, value, and tecnology, and value. no comparison when it comes to either. if a harley was better overall i would be riding one. i may be conservative when it comes to politics, but when it comes to high tech engineering i want the very latest, and harley has a long way to go. a few examples are water cooling, four valves per cyl. shaft drive, overhead cams, unit construction, etc. the v-rod with the porshe engine is a start but it is butt ugly and the harley guys won't even claim it. i can never pay more for a lesser bike. harleys are well finished and have a big choice of models, but underneath all the awesome bling it's still the same old archaic engine and transmission design that has been around before i was born. i don't look down at folks who have harleys i figure to each his own. i would'nt trade my 1300 v-star even for a brand new harley, and thats a fact. it ain't the bike i can't afford. i would'nt have any money left for the harley toilet seat and the costume. just a joke.
  20. and then god created the wing.
  21. i will see you there. :clap2:
  22. thats amazing. from the looks of the rooms they are very nice. must be kind of in the basement. i wonder how you get to them. might book a stay there next year.
  23. i stand corrected. i can't figure out where the rooms would be. they must only have a couple of rooms. as many times as i have been there i had no idea they had rooms. very interesting. bill
  24. the cliff house is strictly a restaurant you can't stay there. they don't serve dinner there. i think they close at 3 or 4pm. really neat stop. ate there several times. stay at the hub. randall should have a load of ride brochures that we left from the 09 rally. i am going to have a get together at the hub next spring. fantastic place to home base for some great riding. it's almost my home away from home. tell randall your a venture rider. he will take care of you.
  25. the facts are use a premium oil with the recommended oci's and the motor will out last us. i just have to go that extra step, and do what makes me feel good. thats what this oil thing is all about, peace of mind. :cool10:
