Thanks for the tips, we haven't pulled the carbs yet so we will try pulling seafoam in the gas line, starting it up and blowing it out a little and checking the hoses to see if they need cleaned out. Thanks again for your input.

We can blame unions, management etc., fact is probably both did all they could to get higher wages and better benefits. That being said I have determined that the entire financial downturn is Bill's fault. So now I guess I have to put on my big boy panties and deal with it then I can get back to motorcycles.

I put the Baron's extensions on my RSV and it allowed me to ride all day, I plan to upgrade to the Flanders bars at some poiint.

I will see if there is a way to spray carb cleaner directly into the bowls without removing the carbs, thanks for all the tips. We will let you know how it works out.

We were at my house when the problem started, so I was using the computer here and he was outside messing with the bike. He is TMongold, no gallery.

Pegscraper, My son in law is a member here, his bike is the same color as yours. It is actually my old bike, I bought the RSV when I retired and sold the Royal Star to him. The origional Royal Stars are great bikes.

Thanks for all the tips, but it looks like the carbs are going to have to come off. Neither of us has any experience in pulling the carbs are a little reluctant to just start taking stuff off. Is there a link with instructions and hopefully some pictures on carburator removal and cleaning?

Bill, One thing you might take into consideration for the shopping trip to Eureka Springs is parking. Last time I was in Eureka Springs, parking was kind of hard to come by in the downtown area. You have probably already taken that into account, just thought I would mention it.

We have the tank off and started the bike with sea foam in the gas line. We ran it enough to hopefully fill the carbs with pure seafoam, maybe this will free it up. I will go back out and tap the carbs and see what happens. I will let you know what we come up with. Thanks for the fast replys, you guys are awesome.

My son in law and I were going to ride today and when we started up gas poured out of his bike onto the ground. The bike is a 1996 Royal Star and it looks like the gas is coming out of the overflow from the carbs on the left side. I am thinking it is a stuck float, but we are having no luck on getting the problem resolved. We have the tank and air filter off the bike. Anyone have any tips on how to get this fixed?

I have lowered the front of my RSV by sliding the forks up aprox. 1" and have had no problems, there are a lot of bikes out there with a lot less ground clearance than the RSV. I have the kit from Barons to lower the back, which I plan to do soon. The kick stand on the origional Royal Star is almost 3 inches shorter than the Venture and I have not heard of any great problems with the those bikes concerning their maximum lean. I personally like the feel of a bike that sits a little lower as well as being easier to swing a leg over when wearing leathers. If you lower the bike and don't like it, you can always put it back to stock. I would suggest using calipers or another way to measure and make sure you move both sides exactly the same distance if you decide to lower the front.

Risers & flanders?
Jerry W replied to jimmydsmith7's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have the risers on right now and would like to upgrade to the flanders bars at some point in time, the risers made a world of difference. I am not sure I trust me to make the change and get everything right, so it will probably be a while. -
K & N, do they help?

Nope -
Don't know if it counts as a motorcycle, but I started on a Cushman Eagle, I am thinking it was in 1958.

Problem removing lower fairing
Jerry W replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I didn't remove the fairing to replace the air filters, just used an extension and a swivel on the socket. -
I always keep a can in the saddle bag when I am on the road, start off with a clean bike and hit the windshield and front end every time I fill up. Keeps the bike looking good and much easier to keep clean. I know keeping a bike clean isn't for everyone, but if that is what works for you pledge is a keeper.

Thom, That canyon you are looking for is around 800 miles north of Rockport, good thing gas is getting cheaper.

No, I didn't do anything to the cables. I did make sure the throttle cable was not attached anywhere. I did remove the tank to remove a clamp, thanks to flb who told me about that one.

Or, you could install the Baron's riser extensions. I lowered the front of my RSV and installed the extensions and that allowed me to add air to the front as well as making the riding position much more comfrotable.

Now, that there is funny, I don't care who you are.

Butt Butler Update on Pillow Top Seats
Jerry W replied to Rick Butler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Rick, How booked up are you on work? I have had some things come up and my bike will probably be parked for a couple of weeks and I was thinking this might be a good time to get my seat worked over. Mine is not a pillow top, the 06 Midnight RSV did not come with the pillow top, it came with a studded seat. -
New looking for direction on pipes
Jerry W replied to Billie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am running the Samson slash cuts on my RSV and like the looks as well as the sound. Lots of folks are using Road King pipes, while I have not heard the RK pipes that many can't be wrong and it is less expensive. -
The first filter fits the origional Royal Star, I had a 96 Royal Star and that is the filter it takes. I am thinking the just got the wrong picture since the text says in includes both filters and the Royal Star only takes one. Anyway, Freebird is right in his thinking.

I have lowered the front of my RSV and recently purchased the Barons kit to lower the rear. I have not gotten around to installing the rear lowering kit yet, but do not see anyh problems with ground clearance. I do think I will need to shorten the kick stand when I install the rear lowering kit. I rode a 1996 royal star before I bought the RSV and did not have any problems with ground clearance and the Royal Star sits much lower than the RSV.
