I'm sorry Earl, no matter what you say, i really like to hear about the Trophy. And comparing a trailered Bike against a daily Runner is ..., let's say not fair at all. So, you win that one and don't be too embarrassed about the Look of the Trophy. The Look doesnt't count for any Reason, it's the Fact that you won it with your Bike. You have every Reason to proud.

With all due Respect, that's not a good Idea. It's right, these Motors don't need much Attention regarding the Valve Settings, but you need to check the Clearances because these tend to get narrower and not noisy. This can lead to burn the Valves, especially the Exhaust Valves. The first two Services should be performed as planned. -
Sorry for being late on this Issue, but the Pickup Coil i got is exactly like the Thing in the Photo. So, we have to state, the 2 Pickup Coil Ensemble is in Fact a four Coil Unit, those are in two Casings and that's why Yammi calls them 2 Pickup Coils.

IIRC, those Hoses have different inner Diameter, the short one has around 4.5mm, the longer one is very tiny, 2.5 maybe. I don't know a Reason for the Arrow on that Thing. -

On a second Thought, if you have the Carbs synchronized, you have a Vacuum Guage. You could hook it into the System behind the Restrictor and read the Values on different Rpm and Throttle Positions. Now, take the Restrictor out and proceed the same test Values Rpm and Throttlewise. There shouldn't be a Difference in both Results, just the Time of Reaction should be faster without the Restrictor in the Line. If there is a Difference, the Restrictor is somehow restricted. :D It should have a Hole through it about 1mm in Diameter. -

I've never seen that Line anywhere else than on #2 Cylinder, but it shouldn't make any Difference anyway, except the Lenght of the Hose. I'm sorry, but i first thought you're talking about your '83. -

As i've learned here, the Connection on a '83 is different than the Vacuum Port on the#2 Cylinder. I think it's direct on the Carb, above the Butterfly. If your Sensor is from a '83 Model, there should be something else different to compensate for that differing Vacuum Value. I think it's the TCI Unit which is different also. Maybe only because of that different Vacuum Value and it's computing to Spark Advance Value. The Sensor stayed the same, even with using the Port on the Manifold instead of the Carb Port. Someone with better Knowledge of the '83 will chime in here soon. -

No, that's not normal. But when this happens, there usually a Floater Valve stuck. You can locate the the Carb which is overfloating and give the respective Carb Bowl a Tap with the Grip of a Screwdriver. That should take care of that Problem. If it comes back, you can put Seafoam or synthetic Carb Cleaner in the Gas and hopefully this will losen the Gunk up. If this doesn't help either, let the Dealer undo the Carbs and deal with the Issue under Warranty.

I'm following the Darksiders because of my technical Interest in any Sort of Mods. I'm not denying that i clearly stand on the other Side of the Fence but that's mostly because there are Issues i cannot accept. Technically, it works for some Folks, you Guys are the living Proof of that, i sincerely hope this stays this way. I'm not talking about dying in a fiery Crash here, but Riding is dangerous enough even without riding a flat Threaded Tire on the rear of a Motorcycle. I'm sorry, i know the RSV has the 150 Tire as stock, but i didn't compute that when i read about changing from a 130 to a radial 150 Tire. Most of my Comment still stands as i wrote it, except for the narrow Rim. I think the Rim is 4 Inches wide, so the radial 150 on such a Rim will give you most of it's Advantages. The Muscling Story .... As a Matter of Fact, most Riders don't do Counter Steering. They corner the Bike with shifting Weight, some use a bit of Force on the Pegs to help the Bike getting into an lean Angle. If you ride with such a Style and aggressive on Top of that, you 're just worn out before the End of the Day, because you need a more Force to bring the Bike into changing Direction. That Force need to Power of the Rider. I think when you proceed counter Steering you won't need a Lot of extra Force, just a little more lean Angle than before, because of the wider Tire on the front.

Actually, it's not the current State of Charge but the current System Voltage resulting out of the Rectifier making up DC Voltage and feeding Current into the System and the Battery taking up these Parameters minus the Current which is used by the Bike in the Moment. So the Voltage is just System Voltage nothing more or Less. It does NOT represent the Voltage which the Battery is charged with or the Voltage on the Battery in conjunction with the State of Charging. Of Course, as Redneck stated, the Voltmeter gives you an Indication of what's going on in the Moment. -
Not the pure Weight seen as a Load, but a Guy fat as i am has more Weight in the upper Body than a small and tiny Rider overall. So, it's the Weight Distribution what makes the Difference.

What remaining "handling" you're exactly talking about ?? Straight line will be fine with some quirks and minor Issues in the Suspension because of the radial Tire won't have the same Self Dampening Ability like a bias Ply has. Me thinks you will see chattering and small but very noticeable Hits going over a Bump on the Road. Now cornering, i'd suggest to buy some Cans of Spinach :big-grin-emoticon: Seriously, i think cornering will not be as 'easy' as you're used to. Either longer Bars or a good Practice in counter Steering will be in order. Maybe both. Not to mention that it makes no Sense to squeeze a radial Tire on Rim that is dimensioned for a bias Tire. It's just too narrow to make the Advantages of a radial Tire work. Therefore, this could end up anywhere inbetween 'makes no Sense but costing Money' and 'it's dangerous to ride'. Technically, for a wider and radial front Tire, there are not so much Things on the good Side and the bad Side gets some Points added up, but it might work for you anyway. Another Thing, if you choose a Tire which is more on the sticky Side, you can really mess up the overall Behaviour of the Bike, if it's too sticky on the front you can end up highsiding very fast. Tires(CT or not) on Motorcycle should work as an Ensemble in unison, if one of them is loosing Grip a Lot earlier than the other, this Adventure will end up with scratched Parts and bent Crash Barsat least. You know my Opinion on Car Tire on a Motorcycle and i'm not going to hide it. I know it works for some Folks, but technically there are Lot Things against doing so and it can get dangerous. My personal Riding Style is contrary to the use of a Car Tire anyway.

That's normal Physics. the wider Tire the more lean Angle you need to make the Corner at the same Speed. And with the CT not moving it's Thread like an MC Tire, i'm willing to bet with that 165mm CT you need the same lean Angle as with at least an 200mm MC Tire.

There's not so much you can do at the Moment except replace Seals and Bearing and mount it back in Place, keep the Fingers crossed and start the Beast. -
I like the better Loss Ratio of a Belt. But on a Tourer with Power on the upper End and a Lot of Torque, i don't know .. .. Theses Belt cannot handle a Lot of Power and Torque without getting wider and wider. The Kawi has a 28mm Belt, one and a quarter Inches. If you want to transfer twice the Forces, you need to tripple the Width of the Belt. That's awfull wide, even with Kevlar/Carbon Belts. And these Parts all cost a big Chunk of Money. Pulley or Belt. Therefore, if you stay near the City and not doing serious Mileage on a mid powered Bike, a Belt isn't a bad Thing. Lots of Power/Torque and long Distances on lonely Roads, get the Tools, Parts and the Roadside Assistance Plan ready.

I'm almost sure they will come up with a new Venture and the new 65° V4. They're not going to dump almost 10 Years of Motor Development just into the Vmax and let the Venture die. remember the Sketches of the Patent Drawings ? There was a Bike with a Fairing on one Sketch. The 3rd Gen Venture will come, but who knows when. The selling of a '2009' Venture is not a good Sign that this will happen in 2010. Maybe we need to inform Mr. Starr about our desperate Minds. btw ... The german Portion with 300 Bikes of the 2009 VMAX is sold out. The US Portion(2500) isn't sold out yet, but it seems there aren't so much left.

jt, i can attest that you need to learn to sweat in Iceland just like all other warm Places in the World. When we were there in 2002, we had everything inbetween Ice Storm and 27 Degrees Celsius. My Car got Hit by Squall full of red Sand and small Stones during the Icestorm from behind. I drove 120 km per Hour at that Time and got hit hard. My black Audi A6 was red the complete rear End and Drivers Side. And i mean RED. The next Day it was 24 Degrees and a bit cloudy, then the next it was 27 Degrees and no Clouds at all. Three Days later there was a terrible Snow Storm and we almost couldn't get over the Pass to catch our Ferry on the Way home.
