I'm really sorry to hear you have to sell your Bike. Sometimes you gotta do what needs to be done. Just make sure you continue to contribute on the Site. You know, it's like the Eagles Song, you can check out anytime, but you can never leave !!

Hey don't bihead the Messenger !!! Sorry if i confused you, but you asked for Information and you got what i have in my Noggin about this. 18.5 ID won't fit anywhere there. Shock Bolt is 14mm, Axle is 20mm with a M20x1.5 Thread, Acorn Nut Threads are M10x1.25. But as far as i can see on the Pics, this is a fitting Pumpkin. The scratched Numbers come from Factory and have something to do with Gear Lash Settings.

Folks, why do you speculate about a 2010 Version of the recent Bike ? There will be 2009 leftovers, but due to the 2010 EPA Regulation, there will be no 2010 Model.
-
Nope, there's no Way of visual judgeing the Final Drive Year, but it gets worse, there are are at least four Versions for the Casing: Vmax = Shock Bolt FJR = no Hole for Shock Bolt/no Hole for Speedo Pickup 1Gen Venture = no Hole for Shock Bolt/no Hole for Speedo Pickup 2Gen Venture = no Shock Bolt/Hole and Thread for Speedo Pickup Gearing: 9/33 = Vmax, FJR 10/33 = all Ventures, Vmax 2EN(only german Version '94/'95) To determine the Gearing, undo the Cover and count the Theeth on the Pinon Gear OR mark the Gears on the Outside with a Marker and count the Turns on the Input until the output Spline has made three complete Turns. If you made 9.9 Turns on the Input to make 3 Turns on the Output it's a longer Venture Gearing, if you need to make 11 Turns to get 3 Turns on the Output, it's a Vmax/FJR Gearing. But watch out Folks, there is another final Drive out there, it looks almost the same as Pumpkin we use. It's used on minor powered Bikes such as the Seca and BT1100 Buldog. The Splines are "upside down" on the Output and the only real visible Difference is the Area where the Output Spline are looks more elevated versus the flat looking Area on our Pumpkins. Regarding the Washer you recieved... i'd bet it is 20iDx28oDx3 mm thick. This is used to mount a 6.00 Inch Rim on the Vmax and corrects some of the Offset these retrofitted Rims provide. The Washer should go on the Axle between Wheel and Pumpkin.

Thanks, but when thinking about it .... I've worked so many Hours in those twenty Years, i could retire right now from working that Amount of Time as an Employee and i'm looking forward to nothing else the next 4 or 5 Years at least. I quit a Job in german Post as an certified Mechanic which would have given me a Lot of more free Time for Side Jobs and riding and tinkering .... Man, what was i thinking ?? :rotf: On the other Hand, a Buddy from these Days did a similar Job in the same Work Shop and he's a Mail Man since 5 Years or so. They can't fire you, but you have to do what THEY say you have to do. Or quit without much of Benefits. What a Career, from Head Mech in the Shop for Tractors and Fork Lifts to Mail Man.

I agree. On a Sidenote, i just realized that on 1st April last Year i was offiically self-empleyed for twenty Years. Duh

Brad, i'm in no Doubt that a Lot of Business need those one or two BIG Events each Year. But not so at a Motorcycle Store and Repair Shop. If this would be so, a Lot of Dealer would have a really wrong Business Plan. I know there are a Lot of one or another way bad Dealers out there, but not all of them are bad. And they should have work all the Year around in a Area where Winter is like foreign Language.

You should be able to gather a good used Unit for a Lot less than BRM Sportsmax is asking for a Gear Swap.
-
'85 is the early Drive and they broke under Vmax Power. That's why they brought up the newer Drive. I'm not sure when they changed the to the newer Drive, but '85 is definately the not so good Year. If this is still the first Pumpkin, which i doubt on the other Hand. But there are so much Pumpkins out there, you can pick up any which looks like it might fit. FJR(all Years) is the same Final Drive also. No Shock Bolt to undo there.

Although i feel for Owner and the Employees, but excuse me, why is it that a MC Store in MB, not in the cold white North is not able to stay in Business during the Lack of one, admitted big Event. If the Earnings of such an Event will hold up the Business for the whole Year, it's either a rip off in that high Business Days or there NOTHING to do during the normal Days. I don't buy that Explanation. I think the Mayor is dumb, but that's another Story.

130 Avon tire question
Squeeze replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like your Rims is damaged. Maybe running through a Pot Hole? -
Back to the brakes
Squeeze replied to KarlS's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like the Expansion Hole in the Master Cylinder is clogged. This can happen either mechanically by the Pedal adjusted wrong to no Free Play or the Pivot Point of the Pedal is sticking somewhat and ist releasing the Piston completly. If those Points are fine, you have to undo the M/C and clean the Expansion Hole. -
For a '85 Venture you can use any later Vmax final Drive and it fits bolt on. All You have to do is remove the Shock Bolt and seal the Hole off with some Silicone or similar. Please stay away from the early Vmax final Drives. You can use any Year from '87 or so up to 2007.

I have several Torque Wrenches and different Styles also. Clicker, Dial Gauges and Angle Scaled From 1/4 with 10 ft.lbs up to 1/2 with max 120 ft.lbs. Not that i'd need them, they found their Way into my Shop over the Years. I'd recommend a 1/4" with up to 40 ft-lbs or so and a 3/8" up to 110 ft.lbs to cover our Bikes. No need an no Sense for 1/2" Clicker on the Bike. The Thing is. every Torque Wrench has a typical Error. It's usually 4 or 5 Percent of the upper End of the Scale. If you use a 1/2 Wrench with a Range from 20 up to 150 ft.lbs the Error being in between Specs would be 6 ft.lbs. Now .... add 6 ft.lbs typical Error to 20 ft.lbs and you get a 25 Percent over torqued Bolt while everything is fine in Specs and Range. You always want to choose the Wrench which your desired Torque is at least in the upper third near the End of the Scale. Just because the Error is not so significant the higher you reach to End of the Scale.

Looking for a TCI
Squeeze replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Dan, i'm sorry to hear about your TCI. I hope you get this sorted out soon. -
Thanks Guys for thinking about us !! !! I've heard a Lot of Background Stories about this Freak and a Lot of BS. I can't tell the Difference anymore. There are too much "Good People" involved and some of these are very "Expert". I made up my Mind already on my own, without any of those self-declared Experts. My Conclusion is that we have to accept these Things to happen, just because we Adults live a different Life and the Rules of our Lives are interpreted in too many Ways nowadays. What is right for the most of us will make up a good Opportunity for a Father or a Mother to sue the Teacher, the School, the State and everybody else. I.E. We have had a Discussion and Laws about a Holy Cross placed the Wall of Class Rooms. This is "offending" to non Christian Believers and they had to do away the Cross in Germany, except Bavaria, which is holding a pending Law Suit. We have had Laws and Law Suit against wearing Head Cloth of Teachers and Students and on and on and on just about anything which could be argued about. These have been up to Supreme Court. There is no commonly accepted Set of Rules anymore and what can we expect from Folks like "figure Skating Moms" and "Tennis Daddy" (this is a negative Term, because those Parents will do everything to make the Kids high-flying). They will walk over anything just to get the Agenda done and achieve the Goals they set, even if the Kids is actually uncapable of the Thing he should sucess. On the other End of the Range are Kids and Parents which don't even speak the official Language and Parents who even forbid their Kids to learn the Language. There are a Lot russian Emmigrants recently and Violence and Alcohol(Vodka) is very used to these Kids. It usually ends up in handfist Discussions and more quite often. The Spread is too wide and inbetween, the Sociecty will loose one or two Kids. These Games are not all evil, but in my Opinion, they add some "Reality" to already freak minded People and it's a good Training for them. My Question would be, if the IT-Industry is able to make up Control Mechanism for Digital Rights Management, they should be able to integrate a small Controller Program which integrates in the Software and when specific Game Times per Day, say 4 Hours a Day are triggered, they decrease the a allowed Time of Use. If each Software would have such a Program integated required on a common Basis, the User even could switch between Programs every ten Minutes and they would add up Up Time anyway. I'm aware of all those Things can be hacked and altered, but anyway this should be a first Line of Defense for the blood shedding Software Industry worldwide. They should be forced to secure that Program as much as they want to secure their Program from illegal Copies or more. I say it again, those of you who have been in Combat or Gunfights in Line of Duty, think about the reloading Situation. A 17 Year old Boys acts cold blooded like a routined Killer, changing Clip for Clip and reloading empty Clips whenever there Time inbetween? News reports say he carried 260 Rounds with him. This is not what a Boy could "learn" in occasional rapid Fire Target Pistol Training on a Shooting Range. This takes a Lot more and other Practice.

The Nut is Part of the angled Gear Lash Setting and shouldn't be touched unless needed to. The FJR is constructed different in that Area and that's why you could just pullit off the Output Shaft on the I-4 Engine. But to be honest, i don't like both Designs too much.

Yes, we're alright over here. Also my Friends and Buddies are not inflicted directly. But it's all over the News and you can't have a Radio or TV-Station today without some Background Stories and "Experts" talking stupid Theories. It happened at the School 20 Miles away from my Home and the End of the Story was 20 Miles away from my Office. It's a very sad Story. I was working at that School 6 Month ago with my Truck. You can't "explain" how those Folks tick, it's just too dumb. And Yes Dan, if he would have kidnapped me on his Escape, i'd shown him a VERY violent Version of a Counterstrike Level. I'm NOT going to blame those Games and say those should be forbidden, but we sure should finaly acknowledge their Contribution to such Psycho Acts and act accordingly. A Friend of mine played Counterstrike and America's Army and got more aggressive each Week. I tried to talk him out of that many Times and on 3 Times we had a very heated Discussion about his Behaviour to his Wife, a very long Time Friend of mine, and to his Daughter. Finally I gave up. A half Years Later, his Wife and Daughter were gone and they're divorced now. This 17 Year old fired 110 Rounds and reloaded the Beretta several Times in a heavy Stress Situation. He sure didn't learn this in the local Gun Club where his Father taught him Shooting the rapid fire Pistol on Occasion.

These brown Sauce sure isn't a good Thing, but it isn't causing the Clutch slip either. When you depress the Clutch Lever the Clutch Plate is pushed away from the Clutch Package against the Force of the Diaphragm Spring. If your Clutch Package isn't holding up, in other Word "slips", either the Diaphragm Spring is weak, the Oil contains Friction Modifiers, the Friction Plates are worn out and/or the Steel Plates are warped. When you've been riding for some Miles with slipping Clutch, the steel Plates are blue and done. So are the Friction Plates.
