  1. I believe one of my 84 parts bikes stll has the fuel pump on it and one of them has the rear turn signals if you need them .
  2. Just think of what you have in there: $100.00 progressive springs. $80.00 front fork brace. Is the seat ripped ? are the rear passenger arm rests okay ? You put a lot into that bike with little upgrades. Those are things you could transfer to you other bike, or sell to us I think once you add up the values..it would be worth it. Of course there is that nasty little distance issue between you and the bike...
  3. Mailed it yesterday..since it's for a 1st Gen ..you know it's gonna get there REAL fast !!
  4. If it is a different symptom, the headlight working or not working might have to do with the starter button sticking just a tadge, or is it a tidge ? , in. If it happens again, try pulling the starter switch out. If that is the problem, a little electrical cleaner in there will help. There is a thread in tech area on cleaning the swtiches in the handle bar areas.
  5. Okay.. you are now forgiven and welcomed back into the elite 1st Gen club ! :happy65:
  6. Try getting as can of carb cleaner and the little red straw sprayer. open the drain screw, after the gas drains out of the carb, push the red straw up the drain hose and cover the hose end and straw with a cloth. Then spray into the bowl for 15 seconds or so. Let the cleaner drain out and do it again. close the drain screw fast and let it sit. You can do each one while the other(s) sit. Good luck
  7. You are right..it is much more of a serious offense. 5 bows before your 1st Gen, a new wash/wax job for the bike, and if it happens again.... you'll be voted out of the elite 1st Gen club and demoted down to a GoldWing ! It's those doggone voices......
  8. The list: 9. Albyzee - Alby 10 Hunter 1500 - Don 11 Mike from Ohio added 6/8/12 12 D4klutz 13 warrior/honeybee - mark 14 ragtop69gs - Jay 15 KIC
  9. 4 bows before your 1st Gen, a new wash/wax job for the bike, and if it happens again.... you'll be voted out of the elite 1st Gen club and demoted to a 2nd Gen !
  10. That is pretty cool.
  11. Okay.... The biggest place and from what I have heard over the years, pretty cool place, is Bob's Cycle Salvage, 1325 E. Elwood, Phoenix. Just off I-17 and between 7th Street and 16th Street. (602) 243-4241.
  12. I have 4 coils on one of my parts bikes and would like to pull them and keep them in case somebody needs them. Is there a way/procedure to test and check them off the bike or on the none running bike ?
  13. This was just recently.. They needed one and couldn't find one locally.
  14. I have a request for info out to somebody that can give me the info you need. There is (was) a junkyard that also has/had a large indoor warehouse of dissembled bikes and their parts. I haven't been there, but know people who has. Once i get that info today I will pass it on. There is also a really cool junk yard of older bikes in the area, but everything I have heard about the place is the owner is "weird", must think all his parts are gold plated since he charges like they are, and you have to keep any women folk close by and safe or he will try to get to "know" them very well.... Stay tuned ..info on the way..
  15. I couldn't find the thread where somebody was looking for the turn signal flasher.
  16. Is the piece removable/replaceable ? I have a cluster off an 84, but it is only good for parts.
  17. Don't forget your progressive springs
  18. Thanks...but...No... already have that hose hooked up. The hose hanging down is a small hose and is connected somewhere up under the left upper fairing. I couldn't see a similar hose on my 89, so it must be up under there doing something..
  19. I needed to modify/edit my original post. I posted before I Googled the one you were asking about. Mine is different but works the same. Mine will crank down to ground level and it also pivots while towing. I pulled mine out and took pictures. Might throw it on Craigs List in case somebody wants to gamble. I wouldn't use it again. Tried it one time on my KLR650 and it was scary. The bike is strapped by the front wheel it leaned like crazy on just light turns. I added straps and that didn't help. Haven't used it since. I wouldn't use it for a heavy bike like ours. The KLR was 400lbs. Here's the link for the type I have: http://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Oldenkamp/RHMC1SV.html?feed=npn&gclid=CO6Jur-xlbECFccBRQodQAWwhA
  20. Have you synced the carbs with the hose connected ?
  21. Well thanks.. you have helped me figure something out. the hose that was hanging there was identical to the one on the 89 and I am sure it is the correct hose that should be connected to the #2 cylinder. So... I disconnected the hose from the #2 cylinder and connected the hanging hose ( adding the additional little valve and hose piece from one of my parts bikes. No real difference, other that it ran even worse while both hoses were disconnected. Here is the deal.. I sucked on the "existing hose that was connected and the RPMs went high... in fact the throttle was turning by it's self... When I sucked on the "hanging" line it also affected the RPM's but not near as much. I am thinking that the PO had hooked up the cruise control line to the #2 cylinder... So I have reconnected the correct line to #2 cylinder... I will have to look and try to figure out what else the PO might have done when he was trying to get the bike running. Bike still runs like crap, but one step closer to figuring this out.
  22. Guess it's worth trying again. What I did last time was to disconnect the gas line, put my own onto the fuel pump and pumped in a very rich SeaFoam mixture into the carbs. Let them sit for 2 days, started it up and stunk up the garage and neighborhood for that matter. Did it again. Then ran a cleaner gas mixture through it. I just switched to pure gas and let her idle for 30 minutes revving the RPM's up every once in a while. Then I went around the block several times. I'll play with it this weekend, try to clean some more jets etc then soak it again.
