Intermittant Electrical/Start Issue

If your starter button is not returning all the way out your headlight will not come on. It does sound like more of a different electrical issue though. I'm sure more info from the Venture gurus here will be coming along... Good luck on the repair. -
Thank you for the clarification. Photos and related nightmares were not necessary .

I finally have some time to put the new diaphragms on the 87. The diaphragm installation and the new spacer on the needle went fast, just want to know if I should: 1) Use any lock tight on the outside housing screws on the cap? 2) Use any sealer around the metal cap that goes over the diaphragm ? Seems like the diaphragm is it's own seal(er) but though I would ask before I put it all back together.

One thing about the KLR's is that the tire pressure makes a big difference on the dirt or gravel. Lower pressures will give you much better traction and get rid of the marbles on ice feeling. I loved my KLR650. Only sold it to get my 87 Venture for my son to ride. Play with the pressures and your ride will be much more enjoyable.

From what I can tell, from extensive hospitalization and great medical care, and after careful consideration, Brian does not have, or has not suffered any type of TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury) that would lead him to the decision of replacing his bike with a 2nd Gen. Looks like a complete 1st Gen type recovery is the prognoses.

Isn't that exactly what Sandusky would say ??? :shock3:

Isn't it more comfortable to fall off when it is cool than hot ? Just asking........

I will try to get over to the bikes tomorrow to look. I have to finish a 3 1/2 hour online certification for a DSS Certification. When I finish that I can ride the heat wave over to the bikes.

There are all sorts of unit looking things on my two 84 parts bikes. If I knew 1) if an 84 would work, 2) where it is located and 3) what it looks like I would be happy to send you one.

Yea...what he said ! My "not listening" resulted in metal parts being installed. They must be 2nd Gen parts since I have not had to do any maintenance work on them. Oh crap... did I type that out loud ..???

The vests that The Marshall and i have work with frozen inserts. See Picts below. Mine also works as a cooling vest when soaked in water. The material, not beads like those neck coolers, absorbs the water and lasts for several hours. The frozen cooling packs also re-freeze in ice water. They don't need to be "frozen" Just submerged in ice water. The head cooler is like the neck coolers but cover your head under the helmet. I haven't tried mine yet...maybe today.. should be interesting....and probably causes a real bad hair day.
