  1. Sorry to hear this news. Please take care of yourself.
  2. Yes, he spent a lot of time in Chicago, but I still enjoyed his tour.
  3. Was searching Netflix this evening for a movie. Came across a four episode TV series on a trip down Route 66 from Chicago to LA. Billy Connolly drives a VW trike. Watched episode one tonight, and it was excellent. Looking forward to the other episodes.
  4. 5. Had turkey dinner today with meat pie stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, mashed turnip and carrots, and cranraspberry sauce. It was yummy. Daughter and granddaughter coming over on Wednesday for Prime Rib. Happy Thanksgiving!
  6. Many folks lost everything. It is very sad. The weather is getting cold, and many folks are standing in devastation wondering what to do. Fortunately, help is on the way, but the recovery will take much time. In the meantime, many will suffer.
  7. Finally, cruising tomorrow...
  8. "Sandy's low-pressure systems pushed cold air down from Canada to bring the winter-like conditions to North Carolina's mountains, National Weather Service meteorologist Doug Outlaw said. Some areas reported getting up to 3 feet of snow." "Hennessey said the storm left snow drifts as high as 5 feet in Richwood and 3 feet in Summersville." http://news.msn.com/us/heavy-snow-kills-5-in-w-va-including-candidate-rose
  9. Central NJ is no way as bad as NYC, but it is still bad. Took a ride to Costco today with Jeannette. Had to go to two Costcos before we found one that was open. Power is out in most places. Most traffic lights are out. Huge trees are down everywhere. Saw one tree that flattened a car. Most filling stations are closed. Second Costco was on emergency power and was not pumping gas. The less than a handful open filling stations have cars lined up down the roads, and also there are lines of folks with gas cans going around the blocks. Driving around town is like driving through a maze. Schools and most businesses are closed. It's a very sobering sight.
  10. Earl, Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Know how you feel. Sandy took care of the shed that Jeannette and I worked so hard on.
  11. Sandy, You're a pain!! "The Brooklyn port is closed to all vessels until the weekend. We are researching other ports and are hopeful we can secure a berth in Manhattan on Friday if the area is approved for sailing by the US Coast Guard."
  12. You're right, will take it easy tomorrow. The back yard can wait until we get back. My mind and body are not at the same age.
  13. Had a bad day. Worked all day around the house, and just ordered our first meal. Worked with someone neighbor hired to remove the tree against our house. There are a bunch of clamps that got broken on our power conduit. We did not lose utilities. Large branch went right through the roof of our new, expensive shed. Filed a claim with our homeowner's insurance. We cleaned the front yard, removed branches that covered our deck, pulled the branch from our shed roof and washed deck and cars. Fortunately, nothing happened to our trike. We are both exhausted, and we did little to clean the back yard. My bum shoulder and lower back are giving out. May have to forget the back yard. Our cruise departure has been delayed a day to Thursday. Now we have to shop for Halloween candy. Noticing a bunch of floaters in my eyes. Not sure if stress of day can contribute to such things. We need a cruise real bad.
  14. Joe, Our ship is moored in Boston. It is not scheduled to arrive in NYC until Thursday.
  15. Well, it happened. Our neighbor's evergreen tree uprooted and rests against our house. Came close to downing our power line. So!! Something to fix before we go away.
  16. Thanks! Looks like NYC may luck out this time. Sandy is skirting us...
  17. North Carolina is lucky this time...
  18. Our ship is in New England right now, and it should have no trouble getting to NYC. Someone posted that last year their cruise ship waited a day to depart. I'm sure they will let the storm go by. As for getting to the ship, we take a cab to Newark Airport and shuttle bus to the cruise terminal. With any luck we should be okay.
  19. Will watch the track of this storm and decide on a course of action. Joked with Jeannette that we should fly to San Juan and meet the ship there.
  20. Oh boy, we may have fun getting to our cruise ship.
  21. Should be interesting. Our cruise ship leaves NYC the day after Hurricane Sandy is projected to hit NYC. Hope things change. http://www.venturers.org/Forum/images/smilies/speechless-smiley-017.gif
