  1. Have enough room with Yamaha oil filters and a box wrench over the nut attached to the socket. Believe me, I am very careful not to overtighten the oil filter with socket. As long as filter comes off easy, I'm happy.
  2. My Yamaha dealer used a oil filter strap wrench with a belt type strap. After he loosened the filter, I performed all subsequent oil changes. I use a oil filter socket to loosen and tighten the oil filter, being sure not to use too much force.

  4. Jay, Interested in seeing this area. Keep me in the loop about your plans. We are retired, so schedule is no issue, and we will also use a motel. Thanks!

  9. Rainy day... Lots more coming... Will wash the salt covered roads.
  10. Come on groundhog, we trust in you...
  11. Though February showers may come your way, They bring the daffodils that bloom in March. So if it's raining, have no regrets, The groundhog has predicted an early spring.
  12. Jeannette gets so frantic over the logistics. I'm just going to take our cage. Will trike with Jeannette when weather warms up, or by myself this summer, if necessary.
  13. Joe, No trike this year... Jeannette was bucking me on this, and I had to concede to taking our cage. It's going to kill me, especially because my brother-in-law from NH will have his Goldwing. Hey! My brother-in-law has a huge trailer. Wonder if he would take our trike. Not sure he wants the responsibility, but we will ask him tomorrow. Thanks for stirring up my gray matter!
  14. Only rain for the last week and a half. Our daffodils will need cutting pretty soon... Anyway, we're bailing out of here next month for Tampa.
  15. ...and folks think Avons are bad. "Firestone tires on Ford vehicles In 2000, Bridgestone/Firestone recalled 6.5 million tires after treads separated on models used in Ford Motor (F) Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers. Ford engineers had suggested safety changes that were not heeded by either company. The tire failure resulted in about 200 deaths and 3,000 major injuries. Bridgestone spent $440 million on recall-related costs; the recall cost Ford $3 billion. At the time, Ford faced some $600 million in lawsuits."
  16. Annie, Looking forward to meeting you folks and many other members of our VentureRiders family this summer. Your itinerary is very exciting, so many places to go, people to meet and things to do. What a great trip! See you soon...
  17. This was not my experience in the Keys. We went fishing and caught a bunch of yellow tail snapper. Mate cleaned some for me, and had restaurant fry them up for me. What a tasty meal! Mike took us to see a lady who made us conch fritters with a little zip. Yummy! We also had great seafood at a sunset dinner. Marker 88? Would go back to the Keys in a heartbeat.
  18. Had such a great time last year that I keep wanting to go again. May get some relief from my burning desire if we go to see my brother-in-law/sister-in-law in Tampa area next month. We have a lot of riding planned this year and postponed trip out west next year. We'll see what develops.
  19. It is breezy with blue skies and 30F today. Looks pretty from our picture window, but won't be riding today, although we could. Attached is a picture I took on Valentine's Day.
  20. Yes, I find 500 miles a day on a motorcycle is a lot. Allowed two weeks to drive almost 4,000 miles, play in the Keys and visit friends for a day in Tampa area. It took me a while to recuperate from this ride.
  21. Rode yesterday. Lots of bikes on the road. Will definitely be riding more next month.
