  1. Yes, surface looks coarse in pictures. Speckled effect is from rock chips. Not worried about falling with our trikes. More concerned about rocks chipping paintjobs. Driving over rough stuff is not a problem with trikes, except that is may shake us a bit. Best to slow down at water crossings. May have to go to a dealer to have protection applied to vulnerable paint areas. Need to give this more thought. Thanks for this info!
  2. Gary, Will see if we can time it so we visit these areas during the week. We may hit some of the celebration. Curious, folks say the roads are good, but the asphalt appears to be coarse and speckled. Should we be concerned about a lot of debris kicking up on our trikes? Thanks!
  3. Thanks Bill! Have been refining ride routes and stops. The twisted sisters and Luckenbach are certainly included. Big concern is what kind of traffic to expect this time of year. Sounds like it may be very busy. Will have to take it easy and stay alert.
  4. Very nice David! Dreaming of riding Texas Hill Country certainly helps pass winter.
  5. Hopefully frozen stuff will drift north of us, 53F and light rain this morning.
  6. Looked bad on the weather map. Guess they want to keep folks off the roads until they can make roads safe.
  7. Beautiful Art! The more I read, the more excited I get!

  14. Okay, looks like Burnet, which is northwest of Austin, should be good. So riding plans are in the ballpark. "Northwest of Austin, Burnet, known as the capital of the bluebonnets, has some of the best trails in the state and also holds an annual Bluebonnet Festival." http://ww3.aaa.com/travelviews/2013/04/10/following-the-bluebonnet-trails-in-texas/
  15. Trying to connect areas of interest with a purple highlighter. Thinking the bluebonnet areas may be north and east of Austin. Guess we can make adjustments when we get there and monitor the Bluebonnet Sightings site.
  16. Sorry for your loss...
  17. Great news! Congrats Gary!
  18. Dave, Glad you are on the mend. Had shoulder surgery a year and a half ago. Like you I had to wait months to ride. It does feel good to get back in the saddle. Welcome back!

  21. In a survey of ten best US suburbs, three of the ten towns are suburbs of Austin. They are Georgetown, Cedar Park and Round Rock. Sounds like a great area to live/visit! http://realestate.msn.com/10-best-suburbs-2013
  22. Best wishes Larry!
  23. Used GI Bill a couple semesters, but my company picked up the rest.
