  1. Need to do a rain dance this winter. Riding the Natchez Trace is a great idea. Maybe we can work this into our plans for trip home, when weather gets milder. See services on Trace are impacted by recent budget problems. Jonesy and I will be sharing accommodations. We will not be camping. Jonesy prefers to book rooms as we go without reservations, which is the way I usually travel. We are both retired, so we don't need to impose any schedule on our travels. $28-$35/nite sounds great! Need to talk more with Jonesy. Thanks! http://www.nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/parkway-maps.htm
  2. Randy, I would like that, but Jonesy and I envision different routes. The route I posted was my vision of taking I-81. Jonesy envisions a more coastal route and traveling I-95. He has concerns about storms in the mountains. I don't feel strongly about either route. Whatever gets us there. Will let Jonesy make this call. p.s. The roads may be salted in the mountains.
  3. Will let you know when we head down. Hooking up with you folks sounds great! Getting more excited all the time! Come on spring!
  4. After a long winter, will be ready for nice ride in early April. Planning to go to Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin, TX to look for bluebonnets. There are other sights in the area, so will decide which are most interesting. I'm ready now... http://www.triketalk.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif UPDATE: Talked with Jonesy, and we will make this trip together. 5. I've had a lot of dental work done dating back 45 years. Work included root canals and an implant. Nearly all my work was uneventful and with little pain. The endodontist who did my last root canal was on the rough side, and I did suffer some effects. The left side of my mouth drooped like I had a stroke. After four months, the symptoms have lessened significantly, but I still have some numbness. Told my dentist that I never want to go back to that endodontist. Not trying to scare you, but some folks are better than others and things can happen.
  6. Alcohol is certainly preferable to shots. Got both flu shot and pneumonia vaccine this year. Both felt like a horse kicked my left arm.
  7. Looking good Larry!
  8. This is fourth annual event. Hope to see you next year!

  11. Earlier in this thread Mike said: "2014 IR will be July 28th Thru the 31st ( Monday thru Thursday )"

  14. Mike, Glad you made it home safely. It was nice seeing you again and meeting Karen. You have a beautiful bike, and I'm sure it will be as good as new when you get it fixed. Best wishes, Leo

  18. Still on the road... Visited friends in Madison, WI and made a big loop around Chicago before visiting New Buffalo, MI. Still lost in Ohio. Should be home in a couple more days.

  21. Update: Rain is still over us in Greensburg, IN, between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Need to drag my feet a little and wait for storm front to pass through. :-(
  22. Have Kumho rear tires and Avon Venom rear tire reversed mounted up front. Run at 28/30 psi. Experience no hydroplaning... We drove at interstate speeds in the pouring rain, two-up and surrounded by tractor trailer trucks when we came back from Nashville. Was never concerned about traction.
  23. Had some heavy rain in Greensburg, IN during the night. Should be a nice day with sun and in the 70's. to Illinois today.
  24. Have a safe trip! See you soon!
