  1. They still make the elite E II for the first gen. They are in actuall fact a great tire. Keep in mind that as the tire ages the rubber gets harder loosing its gripping ability and that also goes for as the tread wears down. for that reason You will find a big difference between your old EII's and a new set. I tried the avons on my 89 found them squirmy so I took them back and had EII's put on. I have never looked back. For me as long as they continue to make the EII that is what will go on my bike. When Dunlop stopped making them a couple years ago the gold wing people raised enough of a stink for Dunlop to put them back in production, so that has to say something for the tire.
  2. The other night I was sound asleep having this great dream. Suddenly the slam of a car door some where outside woke me. I quickly rolled over to my wife woke her up and said, Quick get out of here my wife just got home Hospital Visiting Hours are 10 AM to 8 PM
  3. Actually Dano I think you have hit the nail on the button when you questioned your fathers quality of life. These are my questions for my father as well, considering that he has always been a doer not a watcher.
  4. I need stitches in my side. . . wait I think I just got them:rotfl::rotfl:
  5. To answer your question properly. You first off need a first gen to even require passing lights. to put passing lights on a second gen is just a waste of time and money:witch_brew:
  6. The hard part for me is that either way you think it out, it carries both an element of selfishness and an element of concern and then to add to the confusion on those rare moments when he is sort of awake he is somewhat responsive leaving you with a glimmer of hope, however small. Each time you think your mind is made up, one way or the other, something happens to make you question or reverse that decision.
  7. Things are getting very bad. Dad has pretty much crossed the point of no return, his lungs are so bad that if we take him off the ventilator, he will be unable to breathe. On top of that his body has swollen and his kidneys appear to be failing. We now have to think about wether or not to put him on dialysis or let nature takes its course. Having said that we are fully aware that he will never be able to breath without the ventilator unless some powerful miracle were to take place. This has caused a terrible rift in the familly triggered by weariness, strung out emotions, as each of us four brothers have a strongly different opinion as to what our next decision should be. This has resulted in some very emmotional and heated arguments. My poor Mom sits in the middle of all this. She is a strong believer in God and as much as she hates to see him like this, she cannot be a party to his being pulled off of life support and continues to pray for a miracle. She also believes that by pulling the plug she is killing him but at the same time does not want anymore medical intervention. Some of my brothers argue with her that refusing further treatment, or physically pulling the plug is the same thing when to her way of thinking it is not and I have to say I clearly understand her feelings about that Even if I do not entirely agree. My brothers do not believe in God and therfore constantly lecture her into their individual way's of thinking, placing my Mom into a whirl wind of confusion because each one has a different opinion. For myself I am at a loss and cannot make up my mind other than beleiving very strongly that the ultimate decision is for my mother to make and most go by her own consience without outside influence. She is the one that was married to him for 56 years, she is the one who will feel the lonesomeness more than any of us, and she is the one who must live with her decision whatever she decides. I pray to God that whatever the outcome or decision my Mother makes, that she can go on with her life and not me tormented by a ton of afterthoughts and regrets. As for my own personal feelings I hate to see my Dad laying there and feel he is ready to jion his brothers and sisters. But unlike my brothers I refuse to force my opinion on my mother, unless she asks how I feel about it in which case I will tell her but still leave the final decision to her.
  8. Yesterday I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Curley, the Wonder Dog and was in the checkout line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's BUTT and a car hit us both. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard. Costco won't let me shop there anymore. Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say. I guess why thats what makes Marcarl so appealing to us:witch_brew:
  9. In what way:think::think:
  10. DQ ? what a underhanded low life bribe
  11. I love drinking tea. I enjoy all types speacially loose leaf tea as the fishman mentioned. I always drink tea black sweetened with honey. I dont use sugar becasue 1st I find although sugar is sweet it also tends to make tea a bit bitter were honey does not. 2nd I found out years ago that my constant headaches went away when I stopped using sugar and used Honey instead. I also have wild mint growing in my back yard which I dry and put in jars for mint tea.

  14. Hi everyone I know I have not written for a while with regards to my Father but nothing has really improved. I just came from the Hospital Today. I have been able to finally go again this week to see Dad, and when I first walked in on Tuesday, the shock of seeing how much worse he was from when I last saw him was terrible. I just came back from seeing Dad today again and the news I have is not good. Dad has been on 100% oxygen for the last two days because his lungs are not working and when they suck the fluid out of his lungs it now contains a lot of blood. It is almost for certain that Dad will not be coming home again. His heart still beats strong but every day just seems to bring more bad news. At some point I am afraid we are going to have to face the reality of how much more do we prolong what appears to be inevitable I would like to pass on thanks from my mother and myself for all the prayers and well wishes sent.
  15. WEEKS OF WATERDOWN HOME HARDWARE was carring it. I bought quite a bit from there when I was rebuilding my bike
  16. Question,, how does it tell the difference between a slippery road surface and a hard road surface. It would seem to me if it is designed for hard road surface it would be ineffectual on a slippery surface. If it is designed for a slippery surface and you are trying to stop on a hard surface - - - look out here I come:yikes: Personally I am a believer in knowing your brakes and learning how to control them.
  17. I tried Ice fishing myself once . no matter what I used for bait I could not catch any ice. I even tried baitng my hook with little ice cubes but that did not work either. Later I was told ice fishing is just a waste of time anyhow . . . because when you through the ice in a fry pan it just melts , so it makes for a lousy shore lunch .
  18. Ya Ya forget all the small talk. . . . what I wanna know is . . . . . . . Wether or not you had a good time
  19. Actually I always use the butt connectors I described in post #14 to spliice into wires as well. you simply cut the wire you want to splice into and reconect them with the butt connector adding any additional wires needed. I then add a zip tie just outside the length of the slip on heatshrink tubing so that the wires stay together, Then when the heat shrink tubing is heated and the sealer melts it seals everthing nicely. If you want for added insurance you can put a bit of grease inside the connector prior to installing the wires or solder it after you crimp it. Believe me if this will survive the back end of a transport truck or trailer it will survive anything, just ask any truck driver how much abuse truck wiring receives. I for one however am dead set against those fold over scotch lock connectors so loved by u-haul when the add trailer wiring to your car or those insulated crimp connectors except for emergancy or dry location use, then your just asking for trouble. I have put up to four wires in each end and never had one fail or corrode. remember also soldering is only reliable when used on clean untarnished wires. Tarnished or old wiring will not properly absorb solder and just haveing a blob around the wire is not proper soldering and it will fail. For those not familiar with soldiering, warm the wire with the soldiering tool until the solder melts when touched to the wire, dont melt the soldier with the soldering tool and dont overheat the wire. If the copper is over heated the copper will just shed the soldier like a duck sheds water.
  20. Looks to me like you got your answer
  21. that may be true but on the other hand in the case of severe medical situations we don't risk loosing our homes and everything we own in order to pay of costly medical bills
