  4. But, he wasnt calling to talk to me, he saw the post about Charlene's upcoming surgery and called her to give her some encouraging words and wish her well, he sounded good, it was nice of him to call, it was a pleasant surprise for both of us and Charlene was touched by his call. Thanks Muffinman!!!
  5. Tell Jason thanks for his service, he is an extraordinary young man and passionate about his job. I feel honored to have met and ride with him, our prayers will be with him, you and Pat. I can understand how she feels, my brother did the same thing when he went to Nam, he volunteered, and that didnt make her any to happy either. And remind him to check his six..............
  6. I know I could hit the thanks button at the bottom of every post, but I just want all of you to know that we are very thankful for having such a loving network of friends/family, because thats what we consider everyone here at VR. Today it finally hit her what was going to happen, we saw Jamie and Paula at church, and after they finish hugging she was crying and had to be consoled, then on the way home again she started, this is the first time that she has showed any emotion whatsoever about her upcoming surgery. The grandkids are here now, so they are taking her mind off of it for the time, but I am sure tonite will be difficult for her.
  7. Didn't know we had any members that old...............that would make you 80 or older......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:..
  8. Just sit back and relax, let the wife spoil you, glad everything turned out well for you.
  9. On Monday morning we head out to the hospital in Tucker, Ga., so Charlene can have her long awaited surgery on her spine, it has been a long and tough road for her, I don't know how she did it, I would have given up by now if it would of been me, but she is a trooper and has tolerated it, even though she was in great pain and could hardly walk, she isnt' nervous about it, in fact I think she is excited about getting better, but its making me very anxious. She will be having two seperate surgery's the first Monday and the second more intensive on Thursday, it should last anywhere from 6-8 hrs maybe longer. So if you would offer up a prayer to guide the surgeons hands to a successful surgery and easy recovery for Charlene it would be greatly appreciated. I will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks while she is in the hospital and helping her on her first days home after that her sister from Houston will be here taking care of her while I am at work.
  10. Its the Saints time, they have been holding back long enuff, I have been a long time suffering Saints fan, and now we Aints aint suffering any more, but the Vikes have always been the roadblock to our road to the Superbowl and it looks like this is their year to make it all the way, just wish I could be in NOLA to attend the party after this next win, New Orleans will never be the same again..........I was only 16 years old when I went to the very first Saints football game in old Tulane Stadium also known as the home to the Sugar Bowl and the Super Bowl. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!! l
  11. I will be 61 this year and I am riding an 83 Venture and back up bike is an 07 V Star 1300T. Plan on riding till I cant hold it up any longer..........
  12. Finally got a chance to ride to work yesterday, was a balmy 43 when I left for work, 1st time in over a month I have ridden either of my bikes. Will be riding again today, it is 34 now ,still a lot better than it was for the past 4 weeks. Hopefully spring is just around the corner. .....................................................................................................
  13. I'm with you Eck, he wants her to get the endorsement, then he needs to get another trike......he could always go back to work to pay for it...................
  14. When I am not riding my bike I am usually in my 1999 E-350 Club Wagon with 528,000 miles. Would like to get rid of it but it comes in so handy when I need to haul something and it is still very comfortable vehicle to drive and ride in. For Charlene its a 2006 Saturn Relay Mini Van.....pretty big for a mini, gets 24mpg on the hwy about 20-21 around town, the grandkids love it because they can watch movies on the drop down DVD screen.
  15. Dont worry you will bounce back fast, Dr. told me the same thing about riding, but I felt so good after 3 weeks that I had to try it, and no problems at all, except the wife almost put me back in for doing it..............:dancefool: Good luck with it........

  17. Congratulations, we wish you all the best. He is a lucky man, may the two of you have many happy years together.
  18. Hang around, its winter time, people get testy when they cant do what they love, and just do something or say something someone takes the wrong way. I too know Eck very well and I know if it bothered him he would have said so............So relax and dont fret over it. Just ask him about Nason who was threatening him with a butt whipping if and when they met.......and they did meet, and then the fun started. You will get a good laugh out of it. I know I have started my fair share of threads or contributed to a thread that went south real fast and had my wrist slapped more than once. So now I just think twice or more before I jump in with both feet. The moderators are very fair when it comes to handling these situations, and if they get really bad and the offender wont back off, then Don steps in and takes matters into his hands, after all this site is his creation. Very few people as far as I know have been banned from the site, so dont go and send yourself in exile over this. Its all in fun and the winter blues makes some of us real crazy................. I will get off my now.

    Why?

I have to quote a very intelligent official person who happens to be a member of this forum..........maybe we might have to get him to come over and serve you to make you stop but back to the quote........... "LET IT DIE!!!!!!!!!"
  20. I know everyone says "Your lucky, you have a job", but working 60 hours a week sucks, and if we dont work it we are subject to being laid off in the next round, when I started working there, there were 12 fabricators working in the shop, now we are down to 8, we did have as many as 16, and rumor has it 3 more lay offs coming by Feb. 1. They took away our Christmas bonus, small as it was, they took away our safety bonus, upped our ins. premiums, increased our deductibles and out of pocket expenses on the medical ins., waiting for them to stop or at least reduce our 401k match, all we have left is our gainsharing bonus and I am sure that will be elimanated soon. I am so glad I only have 1 year 8 months left before retirement from this place. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the wage freeze.......!!!!!!! Last one lasted 3 years!!!!! I am so lucky to have this job.
  21. I have a set I am not using, make me an offer plus shipping............
  22. Thanks to you and all the rest that served so we could be free.......... But are you sure that wasnt the Elmer Fudd..:rotfl:..Silly Wabbit......................... QUOTE=Squidley;425686] My tin can was a Knox class Frigate FF1082 USS Elmer Montgomery. I spent 9 month on her during the 1st Gulf War in The Med, Red Sea, Suez Canal, Indian ocean and the Persian Gulf. I was brown shoe Navy as I was a Helicopter Mechanic with the air detachment stationed on her from HSL 36. Anti Submarine Warfare was our game....not too many subs in the Gulf though I loved my time in, I was very alive back then, I wouldn't have changed my life one bit with everything I know now....the best years of my life so far
  23. At the age of 33 my daughter has decided to go back to school. After 2 years of thinking about it she has decided to continue her education and was going to go to school part time while working, she decided that would take to long to get her degree, so stepped out of her comfort zone, and quit her job of 7 years and enrolled full time. She has 2 children, 4 and 2 years old, so it wont be easy trying to raise a family and go to school full time. Her husband has a great job with no travel so he can help with the kids in the evenings while she studies. She already had 2 years of college but not all of those credits carried over to what she is studying for. She has decided to become a nurse, and after one semester her profs have convinced her to go for RN instead of LPN. She had been acing all her tests and it would only take her 2 years instead of one to do that. The odd part about this is, that she is or was very squeamish about blood and that sort of thing, so it came as a real shock when she told us about it. So finally it looks like one of my kids will graduate from college after all.............That makes me very proud. She is a great daughter and she will make a fantastic nurse.
  24. Your a good loving son..............we will keep your dad in our prayers and hope for speedy recovery so you can get back to warmer climate.............
  25. I have learned one thing since becoming a Christian........Learn to receive the blessings that are given!!!! Its hard, our pride gets in our way........but it is not done out of necessity it is done out of love................We are all blessed by your presence and friendship. So.............. SHUT UP AND RECEIVE!!!!!!!!!!! And I say that with LOVE!!!!!
