Welcome aboard Patrick. My user name is loehring on the PGR site just like here. You made a good decission to join and I know it will have an effect on your life as you effect the lives of our military families. Like you've heard there are a number of us that are also Ventureriders so feel free to contact any of us any time brother.

That's ok Eck. After that altercation with the Mustang it's no surprise you wanted half an Accord. I hope I can get there and meet you. It's looking like PGR will be honoring a veteran in Augusta on Saturday. It just depends on the timing.

Guess I'll have to wait for the next one. I have no idea where there are any Totems in GA. I even Googled it and came up with nothing.

Let's not oversimplify. I have "loud pipes" and I happen to love them. I honestly believe they've saved me from some difficult situations in the past but that aside I don't think my bike is any more disruptive than the people in my neighborhood who start cutting their lawn at 0600. I don't agree with people riding dangerously but other than that we are all different in what we like.

My wife makes an AWESOME cheesecake. I'm at work but I'll see if I can get her to post tomorrow morning if you still want the information.

I keep telling you guys..... a good set of custom pipes and there is no whine. Pure 1 and Rotella T Syn for me. Change both every 5k. So far so good.

It sucks that the cops haven't done a better job but when it's all said and done, just glad you're ok. That's what really matters.

I hope things get better as well. My wife has been out of work for months. We can get by on my salary but not by much. I know a lot of people are hurting right now.

Hey Randy, my wife had something that sounds similar to what you're discribing. She went to a Neural Opthamologist and found that she had a Feaux Tumor. (Nevermind the spelling) It was a fluid build up behind her eye that acted like a tumor but wasn't one. it's pretty rare and hers was being caused by a weight gain brought on by some migrain medication she was taking. The doctor changed her medication. The results were awesome. She lost the tumor, 40lbs and her migrains. It took a few months for all that to happen but once they discovered the problem the fix was pretty easy. I don't know what you have but this was only found by this specialist looking into her eyes. It didn't show up on an x-ray. Maybe it's something unusual like that. I hope they find it and you can start riding again. Praying for you brother.

Considering buying a Venture, but have concerns
loehring replied to MPK's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I was looking at the same three bikes. The issue isn't with the whine as much as what type of riding you do. The wing is a standard tour with a standard foot position. The BMW is a sport tour and the Venture is a cruiser. All three handle differently and sit differently. I've owned Suzukis, Hondas and Yamahas and they all have a certain amount of gear noise. I dont consider the the Venture bad. I do have custom pipes that will make most Harleys sound quiet but even with the stock pipes I never thought the whine was bad enough to bother with. Pick the bike that "fits". I wouldn't even make the whine a consideration. Just my .02- 36 replies

Wow Shep!! Glad the two of you made it relatively ok. The bike looks like it can be repaired. You're both in our prayers for a quick recovery.
