  1. Which letter would we send? There are 2 schools here 1st Gen and 2nd Gen. I wouldnt necessarily be eager to sign a letter for more 2nd Gen looks..... I guess there would have to be 2 letters kinda like our recent elections different schools of thought.
  2. None of this is hard to do calipers are easy, if you decide to delink you might as well put SS lines on at the same time because you will need different length lines,a t-fitting or double banjo bolt (I used a double banjo but I would go with a t-fitting), The right fairing will have to come off if I remember right to get to the metering valve for removal (cant remember) and right side plastic.
  3. I totally agree with Squeeze 1st Gen brakes are lacking compared to other bikes pretty small front disks, linked set up etc. I have delinked and switched to R1/R6 calipers, HH level brake pads, SS lines, a GSXR600/750 master front cylinder, removed the rear proportining valve and still think the brakes are lacking compared to other bikes, but they are better then stock. 1st Gen brakes in general
  4. Definitley get a shorter windshield or cut it down so your eyes are just over the top of the shield. Or get a BMWK1200LT with an electric windshield that you can move up and down on the fly. In the rain or fog lower it clear day raise it.
  5. Yes that would be great could you post it. Thanks
  6. My only question is how accurate is your speedo mine is off 8-10 mph at indicated 65mph in reality I'm only doing 55 mph. 49mpg seems hard to accomplish unless your driving 45 mph.
  7. My mileage of 25 mpg with this set up was also affected by more very generous throttle twists then my usual measuring standard of 70 mph @ 4000 rpm went a little higher then that. Its also fairly cold here which drops mpg also. I'll have to get some results with my standard test 100 mile round trip 70 mph@ 4000 rpm over a period of a few days.
  8. Wow you guys come up with some ggod stuff.
  9. Squeeze what effect does the air jet size have on performance. At least for my bike it seems the the 170 jet was better then the 180 jet.
  10. I figured this might be the case I'm wondering if the diameter of the nozzle is much different. I should mike the needles at the widest point and see what I come up with.
  11. Just experimenting with the carbs. I have a 1990 and installed the original 1983 42.5 pilot jets and 180 air jets. Idled nice a little more power, mileage about 36 mpg at 70 mph and 4000 rpm. Did what 5bikes described to improve mileage lowered needles power was decent and mileage improved to 40-43mpg at 70 mph @ 4000rpm. Just for fun I used the the original 1983 needles which have 5 positions to raise or lower the needles unlike the 1986+ needles which have no adjustments. The 1986+ taper of the needles is less then the 1983-85 needles. Took the 83 needles and raised them to the highest setting its got real nice power but its running rich I can smell it on my clothes, slight stumble on the initial throttle twist then its a rocket, mileage a grand high of 25 mpg. Im gonna now set it to the lowest needle setting (so it sits deeper) and see what results I get. Anyone know if the the actual tube the needle sits in is different from 83-85 to 86-93? Just playing around with this stuff.
  12. I actually had the jet tube unscrew and was only held in by the needle and was dumping fuel in copius amounts but I did not notice it at first because it sat in a normal looking position and happen to see it move when I reved the motor. Gas mileage was bad too in low 30's.
  13. Yes it does.
  14. My buddy was saying Corbin makes a fairing. I kinda like the look of the motor. My buddies is black with chrome looks sharp though I'm not a classic look fan I have to admit I kinda of like his bike and its big manly bike. Engine sounds like a jet whine no Vtwin rumble. I think he payed $13000 for it with 1700 miles. Traded fhis BMW K1200LT in for it. (Which I wanted to buy from him but the wifey sad noooooooo.:bawling:)
  15. My buddy just bought the touring model which has alot of power it stood up to another buddies GW it 2300cc's of brute power mileage is about 35 he said in the 20's when twisting the throttle. Its a big bike.
  16. My buddy just got one of these. http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/features/0710_crup_2008_triumph_rocket_3_touring/index.html 2300cc and boy does it have power rivals the Goldwing 1800 when another friend paired up against him on his GW the Triumph held its own. Its not a bad looking bike in black and chrome not my style but not bad.
  17. My best friends wife is higher up in the school in Phoenix. Its a good school. My buddy went there for AC/Heating now is on the verge of owning his own business there.
  18. 375 H&H Magnum now there's a man's gun.
  19. A little harsh there slayer. I doubt most police are gonna harass the public for the fun of it. It's not like the police are getting a cut of the ticket. Blame more likely the city managers who are crying for money (ie. red light camaras, photo speed enforcement comes to mind) for their pet projects.
  20. Police have their jobs to do many/most places have a "quota" sometimes called "performance standards" for tickets to show the men are actually doing something instead driving around aimlessly. Most police can not immediatley check your "driving record" to see if your a good driver. The judge is the one to decide based on your driving record how to handle your case not the policeman and just think how many times you probably have exceeded the speed limit and did not get caught probably many many more times then when you actually got a ticket. Just because your are driving in a pack of vehicles does not mean you werent speeding. Utilizing a laser you can be picked off very easily in between cars the beam is only 3 ft wide at a 1000' and less at closer distances. A radar is another issue its more of a shotgun effect picks up other vehicles but many can be programmed to discard traffic moving in one direction and can be programmed to pick up the fastest vehicle along with the strongest radar return. Then it up to the policeman to visually verify which vehicle it is based on his experiance you can tell how fast a car is moving by looking at within a reasonable amount of error plus or minus 5mph most police can do this if they run radar enough. You can always contact your representitives and try to have the laws changed so speeding tickets are less of an issue or petition to have the speed limits changed. (Good Luck) This is not to say that thier arent bad police, there are, but sometimes you have to take your medicine for something you did. Now tickets really shoudnt be issued below 5mph over the limit because of the car speedometers inaccuracy. One over is ridiculous.
  21. DITTO:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
  22. I have this helmet too can you listen to music also?
  23. Is this speed a speedohealer corrected speed or the regular spedometer speed which reads fast and your really doing 5+mph less then indicated. My spedometer is of about 9-10% reads fast when I found this out I sped up to the real speed and of course mileage dropped.
  24. Cold weather also knocks it down.
  25. I just used the regular needles that came with the 1990 and did what 5bikes describes and it worked for me. I just happen to put in 83 pilot jets and air jets.
