  1. Them are good bikes. Gravel that craps bitten me a few times mainly from the front tire washing out in it on the ground before you know it. Never had much problem with the rear wont take you out as fast.
  2. I believe that to be a Honda VFR750P.
  3. I'm with you I also don't like boards. If I ride a bike with boards I always end up putting my feet on the very back of them half hanging off like a peg.
  4. Me either I actually upped my limit to 37 degrees in dark especially early morning dark.
  5. I guess my ideal brake system would be a bike with non-linked brakes with ABS I can turn off when I want too. My experiance with HD ABS you brake hard and hit a bump you get a jerk foward which is unnerving but managable. I also tried in a heavy rain to skid on a HD Roadking with ABS and I couldnt get it to lose control , it worked great. On good roads I'd leave the ABS off in bad weather or crummy roads I'd have it on.
  6. Yes, Yes when the messiah waves his heavy left hand we'll all be saved. What tough job to take the way things are.
  7. Yes but my experiance with HD's which is alot (never rode a2nd Gen I assume they are close in design for brakes.) I find I use more rear then I want in a panic stop so I can see where people can lock up. My thinking is the design of such a huge pedal and the general likeness to a car brake pedal makes it easy to do. I'm not really a fan of floor boards I find I use them like pegs I just use the very back edge of the board like a peg never really put my feet on the board but its something to try heal on the board.
  8. Bill, wings are pretty awesome bikes (The power is intoxicating) I love Honda I own several Honda products 2 vehicles,a watercraft, lawn equipment, but I'm looking for something even more advanced then the wing, the BMWK1200LT in 1999 was more advanced then the current Wing, electric windshield, ABS that can turn on and off, suspension, etc. One friend has a Wing another has a BMW. I like the BMW better, a little better fit for me, but BMW has no dealers compared to Honda or Yamaha. Parts for BMW hugely expensive (arent all parts for any bike I guess) but I want to see what Yamaha can come up with based on the new V4 motor. I know they can do it but will they? Like you said in another post the economy may play apart in what happens but I gotta think they are going to do something after all the research money was dumped into a limited production bike. I havent overlooked i, it would be my second choice.
  9. No I want more equipment radio,CB, more storage, bigger but sportier. Really like the BMWK1200lt but I want to stick with the V4. FJR doesnt provide this. Looking for a modern looking technologically advanced touring bike that performs. Rooting for a 3rd Gen that fits this description. Not to insult anyone that loves a classic look but you look around and cant tell apart one bike from another. No wonder there is a huge aftermarket for different parts cause all the bikes look the same. I just find it a boring look. Thats just me I know I'm out numbered but I think the you will find more of this look (sporty) due to the fact many baby boomers who fueled the whole classic look that wanted to remember the bikes of thier youth arent going to be buying that many more motorcycles in the future youll see the styles change to more of a sporty look. Just my HO. Yes Squeeze totally agree with you.
  10. Hitting a little rear in a turn helps stabilize the bike some.
  11. I'm sure theres alot people that would disagree with me but thats the way I feel. Hope they voice thier opinions I'd like to hear them. Most MC makers know that in panic most people hit the rear pedal like a car so its made that way.
  12. If this design is correct I would approve. It sure dont look like a 2nd Gen. . I have to disagree. Change the look, too many bikes look the same no knows the difference. RSV's dont sell all that well they'll have to do something different not saying they aren't good bikes. The Victory Vision was a different way of going breaking the mold so to say. I'm not a fan really but it stands out in a crowd its different. You see a Goldwing you know a Goldwings coming. You see a 2nd Gen and everyone thinks Harley. Nothing sets it apart visually even Harley guys have trouble distinguishing 2nd Gen from Harley's A dime a dozen look. When the 1st Gen came out it was a better MC and better looking then the Goldwing notice Honda soon changed after the intoduction. TOTALLY AGREE DAN The only wildcard is the economy like Bill said and who knows with that at least gas is way down.
  13. Good books I have both. I also like Total Control by Lee Parks.
  14. My experiance with ABS has been good on HD bikes except if you hit a bump while abs is kicking in then the bike rockets foward a bit on wet or crap surfaces it has worked well. I like the fact the brakes are not linked I dont want linked brakes especially on wet, or crummy surfaces I dont want that front wheel taking me out if it happens to lock up. I dont want linked brakes in a turn where I might want a little rear brake only. I like the way BMWK1200lt does thier brakes ABS can be turned on or off if you want. Though they are linked but the reverse of most bikes the rear is linked to the front brake handle instead of the other way. On the 2nd gen I know you folks have a problem with rear lock up. I think its a design flaw but I also think they way they design the rear pedal big like a cars and floor boards makes it so easy to slam on the rear brake hard. I find it much harder to slam on the rear brake on my 1st Gen with pegs and the small brake pedal (my brakes are delinked.) ABS solves the problem of rear wheel lock up. I dont think you need linked brakes. Now MC designers include this as a way of forcing you to apply both sets of brakes. So many people just use that rear brake its not even funny. I think if you had just ABS that you could turn on and off you would be fine no need for linked brakes, Just my HO.
  15. The new Concours is pretty nice. When I visit Arizona in Decemeber I gonna rent one and try it out for a couple of days. Sure wish they would remake an updated modern 1st Gen.
  16. I was gonna suggest flatoutmotorcycles but I cant now. I bought mine there about a year ago for $59.00 now they want $88. I thought I found a cheap source but I guess its back to shopping around.
  17. Agreed I tried each fix one at a time bearings, fork brace, etc, solid motor mounts was the one that made the difference. Lots of work especially for the rear left one but worth it IMHO.
  18. I have a similiar start problem upgraded battery cables didnt help I didnt notice a difference. Maybe I'll try this wire in the starter.
  19. That was good.
  20. I think its personal preference I like more fine control of the brakes. I dont like linked brakes on wet, gravel, sand,or slippery surface or in turns where I want maybe some rear only. Some people absoloutely love them I do not. Linked brakes were made as a safety feature because so many people love jamming on that rear brake instead of the fronts when they are supposed to. 70% of your stopping ability is the front brake. As a side note I almost think floor boards on bikes increases your foot pressure on the rear brake unlike a peg bike which I find harder to put hard pressure on the brake. Of course this doesnt mean anything on a 1st Gen with pegs.
  21. HERE HERE:clap2:for those that served:happy65: and for those that have paid a price or the ultimate price :crying: I salute you and THANKS for your service you are appreciated at my home:clap2::clap2:
  22. Yes very cool hey wheres the Delorean?
  23. That article couldn't be truer. You dont hear about Canada's sacrifices. In Afghanistan you guys have carried a large brunt of the combat unlike some of our other "allies" (not including the British they have been there when needed). Those same "allies" that wanted us to carry the brunt of work in Bosnia because they don't have the stomach to fight but want to have a say in our presidential elections. I for one truely appreciate Canada's sacrifices and salute you fine folks. Thank you. Jim
  24. Them ugly 2nd Gens would never catch him. Your a man after my own heart Bill tring to improve on the original product I love it.
