Ok ,Thanks for the info. Since I don't always use the cruise control everytime I'm on the bike I hadn't noticed that before. I'm glad I learned something new today.
-
I was just thinking. (you say uh-oh)Since the standard on-off switch for the auxillary lights is so dinky, has anyone ever tried using the cruise control on-off switch under the cassette player to turn on and off any auxillary lighting you might have installed? You'd have to bypass the switch for the cruise, but I leave that switched on all the time anyway. It sure would be easier to reach than under the fairing by the aux outlet.

speedometer question
Kirby replied to mother's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe I'm wrong but speed is speed, no matter how you graduate it. Some bikes have both scales on the same speedometer, so in order for both to be right the internal gearing would have to be the same wouldn't it? -
My wife and I went up there last summer. Had a great time. Got lost once. Took a wrong turn in a cemetery and went up and over a mountain on a road that would have given a goat the shivers. Can't wait to do it again at a slower pace! Elizabethton, TN is a good place to stay and start off in the morning. Drop on down to Boone, NC during the trip and take in the sites. You won't regret this ride at all!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!! You've got great taste in picking out colors(same as mine). You'll not regret this purchase. Just bundle up, get on, and RIDE!!!!!

One last comment I didn't mention earlier..., IMHO, The Victory Vision is just BUTT UGLY!!!

IMHO, not a very truthful review. (1)They should have found another GW. (2) Sounds like they were all crotchrocket riders. My 2009 has never gotten below 37 mpg fully loaded riding 2 up. Yesterday got 42.8 mpg running 70 for about 175 miles(1 up on stop and go backroads). (3) Sound system isn't drowned out by speed. There's a volume control on the left side of the module that you shouldn't ever have to turn beyond 20(but it will go much higher)Everyone can hear me coming for miles and I've got aftermarket pipes!(4) I haven't had any problem with the handling in the twisties(Been through the Devil's Triangle and the Tail of the Dragon on more than one ocassion, 2 up dragging floorboards (on this tall bike). There's more here than I have time to elaborate on. What I have to say isn't going to change a thing on the review, but having put more than 1000 miles on one in less than 24 hours(in the rain, of which was about 800 miles), you get to know a lot more than a little casual riding will reveal! Bottom line, I think this eleven year old bike can hold it's own against all the new guys!

Best of 2 worlds??
Kirby replied to MidlifeVenture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Kinda reminds me of the cutouts we had back in the 60's. -
Ok here's my 2 cents worth. It looks like the cable itself is crimped to keep it from pulling out, but the wire connection themselves have to be accessible to connect to the antenna. Maybe V7Goose can tell you something, I dunno. If there are more than one or two wires they have to connected individually. Let us know what you find out. I'm interested.:confused24::confused24:

Yea that to everyone on this site. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I've got RoadHouse mufflers on mine. It has a nice deep tone , not too loud. Still have the stock mufflers. They were took off when it was new. When you get 2 (v4's)bikes that sound pretty much the same riding the interstate at 70-80 mph, they give out a very good sound. Sound like a B52 bomber. I noticed this a while back when Footsie and I were coming back from Savannah, GA.

IMHO this is a quick fix, although it can be permanent. Just be sure, as V7Goose has stated on several occassions, that all other problems have been addressed or you may find out later that there was something else causing the problem all along!!! Do a lot of checking out the website and your bike!! Just my worth. One thing I found out from taking mine back to the dealer to stop this was that the Y-connections in the exhaust, leak from the factory!! One side of the Y is crimped(letting it leak) while the other side isn't. It's kinda like the cassette player.., should have been fixed(upgraded) along time ago.

Here's something that might be of interest to others as well as myself. I see on this site that a lot of you have travel trailors behind your motorcycles. How many of you actually camp along your journey? If you do, where are some of the places that you've stayed? What to look for in a camp site? What are the costs involved? Facilities nearby? What do you pack? Just share some of your experiences. Good and bad. Might be interesting to see what this type of ad-venture is all about!!!

Hey Buddy , I got the deflectors on a few days ago and let me tell you , THEY WORK!!!! Thanks for a great product and fast service. They were fairly easy to install and really keep the wind off your knees. But you already knew all this!! I'd advise anyone who rides in the cold to get a pair of these. Thanks again.:clap2::happy65:

I've been looking for a windshieldcover or a bike cover for awhile to purchase. Now my mind's made up!! :rotfl::rotf:

What grade steel did you make your dog bones from, and could we make a set 1/2 inch longer. Gregg Picture below. I think 1/4" inch in linkage difference will yield 1" in actual height. Please forgive my writing and drawing, I don't use MS Paint too much. And yes, you do have to go longer to make the bike shorter. Just think in reverse!!
