I'm running 32psi in my Kumho now and am getting better results. The experimenting is still ongoing at this time. I put the stock dogbones back on this morning and so far...., better! The jury is still out!!!

For those of you that have replaced your tall(OEM) windshield with a shorter one, have you noticed any difference in the way the bike handles? By that I mean, does it reduce the buffeting effect? Can you tell a difference at high speed(in excess of 80 mph)? What type did you get to replace the OEM? Just your general thoughts. I'd like to know because I'm thinking of replacing mine in the near future.

I've got an 09 RSV, bought in June his year. I've put 13,000 on it so far.

I didn't have any ether so I used something else. No, I not going to tell you what it was on this forum because it is very dangerous, moreso than ether!! The reason I am not telling is because some idiot who has never been expose to this stuff will try it and use too much and will wind up killing himself. BUT.., if you use ether you might want to reinstall the valve core before doing this or be very quick with the air hose, because this doesn't seat the beads and the tire will pull back away from the rim if not.

I been working on mine since march, have added a carport, removed the vinyl and restudded the entire house(double wide), poured a foundation, and have it sitting on layed blocks now, built a 6/12 roof over the entire stucture. Doing alone its a slow go. And then I got the tax bill, no longer a double wide they say, it is now premenate struture. TAXES! I know what you mean!! I'm seriously thinking about giving it all up and become a hobo. It's just getting silly!!!

Well, it's official, I've crossed over to the DARKSIDE!! Um, that sounds ominous, doesn't it! Got the Kumho mounted today but destroyed my new air compressor in the process! Oh well, it is still under warranty. Haven't gotten use to the tire yet. Only put about 25 miles on it today. May have to adjust the air pressure a little bit. Started out with 45 psi. What's everyone else running? Ran it up to 85mph, a couple of times. No problems. Put in 2 oz of dynabeads and let me tell you, those things work! I know, I know, gota take it easy for a couple hundred miles! I guess it'll get broken in on the way to Crabshack this Sat.

My first ride was on some kind of scooter in the middle 60's. That got me hooked! Moma wouldn't let me have a bike, so I had to wait until I was out on my own. My first bike was a 1971 Honda SL100. What a piece of junk that was! My present bike is a 2009 Venture S(bought it in June and now have 13, 000 miles on it). In between, I really can't remember all of the bikes I've had. I do remember a 1973 Yamaha RT3 360, a 1973 RD 350, a 1972 Yamaha 350 (can't remember the true designation, one year older than the RD), a Honda SL350, a Kawasaki 100 dirt bike, several Yamaha DT 250's, a 1974 Kawasaki 500 triple, a Yamaha TX750, a TX500 Yamaha, a BMW R5/75, a Suzuki 185 trail bike, a 1975 Suzuki GT750 Waterbuffalo, and a 1999 Yamaha VMAX (which I still have). There have been several 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, go carts and other dirt bikes. .

I really don't think an inline six is going to sell very well. Honda tried it, Kawasaki tried it, Benelli even tried it way back when, and they all fell by the wayside. I think if anybody could have kept it in production, it would have been Honda, with the money that they had even way back then. Maybe someone like BMW will try it for awhile but it will more likely be in a sport bike than a full fledge tourer. Just my:2cents:.

to all the above!!

Hey Ted, I 've got a brand new Kumho sitting in my shop just waiting for me to get the last bit of mileage out of the stock tire before changing to the Darkside. My friend Dan, who rides a Goldwing, just recently changed over to the DS and he loves it! I'll probably change over in the next couple of weeks.

I, for one, am not an engineer or road specialst of any kind, but from the pictures of I-40 being blocked, I just don't see where that should take 4-5 months to clear! Why can't they just bulldoze the rocks off the road, repair the highway, put the barracades back up and turn the traffic loose??? To answer my own question..., I quess the wheels of government turn ever so slowly!!

I'm 55 and still alive. It's kinda like George Strate's song "Troubador".., "I still feel 25, most of the time". I still have my Vmax for all those that think that their 1st gen is so bad.:rotf::rotf::rotf:

How much HP can be built into a 2nd RSV?
Kirby replied to KiteSquid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think if you'll check closer, the 85 and 86 models had the 145 hp. I think sometime later( don't know exactly what year) they were detuned to have only 118 hp! Check out Vmaxoutlaw.com to be sure. -
Man , I sure am glad you told us about the backup fuse. Ever since the other day when I first saw that on my bike I've been trying to find the reverse gear!!! Ted, you don't suppose you hit the kill switch again, do you?????:rotf::rotf:

I've been following the forums on the different oils used here and from the beginning I ran Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50 until the last change when I tried Rotello 5w-40 Synthetic. I have found that the Mobile seems to hold up better. I can't be sure but the Rotello did seem to make the bike want to shift better when the oil was new. Last weekend I put about 700 miles on the bike and it started getting harder and harder to find neutral. The reason I change in the first place was to go to a lighter oil for the winter. I have noticed that I get more gear whine with the Rotello than I did with the Mobil 1. This is probably just because of it being a lighter oil. I have only 1500 miles on this oil. Further testing is in order I'm sure, but right now it looks like I'm going back to Mobil 1 after this run. I haven't tried the Delo yet. I do know that a lot of heavy equipment run on this oil.

I'd kinda like one sometimes for my 2nd gen. It doesn't come with a centerstand and it's kinda hard to check without someone to help. A mirror is the only answer unless you take time to put it up on the jack. Just think it would be easier to check while sitting on the bike.

As long and as detailed as this forums is, has anyone on here ever figured out how to keep the top center of the RSV standard windshield from forming droplets of water early in the morning? It does this right in the area where you need to be looking through. This is more than just fogg. It's like dew drops. I like the tall windshield and don't want to cut it down so that's out of the question. At "around town" speeds it's about impossible to see through. Who's got the answer????

STUPID!!! Well that's how I feel. I bought this bike with 800 miles on it so I didn't know that the lid was suppose to open all the way up. I quess the previous owner DID bend the bracket. Anyway, Goose, you were right! Again!!!!! I gently pushed the lid all the way back up to straight up and it is fine now. Hard headed me wanted to think nothing was bent because it's always been like it was. Anyway, My apologies for doubting your expertise. And to all the others and their advice...., ditto:bang head::bang head::bang head::bang head:

Man, I thought it might be where the "Star" Drive hooks up for lightspeed. :rotf::rotf::rotf::Avatars_Gee_George:
