    Hey, our out west trip last year with our friends Dave & Maria on their Ultra Classic went well. The RSV or Harley never once overheated, even being stuck in traffic on the highway due to a wreck. Going thru Hoover Dam at 110 degrees we were stop and start traffic, and neither bike had a problems their either. The Harley never even had that run on one cylinder syndrom from getting to hot. So I believe like with all manufactures it is a issolated on each bike, like the whine on the rear end of an RSV. The truth is that all manufactures have some glenches on their bikes, we all just hope we don't end up with the one that is a lemon. Being raised in Flint, Autotown, I remember hearing people say never buy a auto that was made on a Friday because workers just wanted to get out of their and build Chit for autos. Um, wonder if it is the same for Bikes. Have Fun, Later-

    When there is a group of bikes my wife said I am a kid again. I check them out and look for things that are different. Truly enjoy the difference in each one. Love my RSV!!! Really hope Yamaha continues the RSV, but with major advances, they have the technology for sure. Harley has had the market for a long time and always will. There sound is great. There financing program makes up for the difference in price by extending a loan for 10 years instead of five or six of Yamaha's, so the payments are about the same or less. Not sure why Yamaha does not wake up to a lot of things, but it is what it is. Like I said, I Love my RSV, but I like Harleys, and Hondas, etc, etc, etc. If I hit the lottery I would have one of each manufacture in my Garage. Have Fun, Later-

    Hello Peg, that would be a BIG MISTAKE!!! That V-Star is twice the bike of that Sportster. Every Lady I know that buys a Sportster is ready to get rid of it after a month or two. That V-Star is plenty of bike. Not to offend anyone, and I have a whole lot of Harley friends, but your Husband needs to Get Real. I miss the heck out of my V-Star it is a Fantastic Bike.     Hey All, when I bought the 03 RSV it had the K & N Air Filters. I added a set of Emego 29" Fish Tail Straight Thru Pipes (non-baffled) from JC Whitney, and some 8" Baffles. Yes, it is loud, but I Like It. My problem is the bike runs Rich at Idle, and Lean going down the road. I went to several dealers and a few after market places and appently in all there parts books there is No Jet Kits available for the RSV. I used my Carbtune and sync it right on, but the problems still persist. Does anyone know how to get a jet kit or to solve this issue? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks-

    Cooper Tires (Avon) wrote me back, here is what they said: Thank you for contacting Avon Tyres. Please bring your tires to your dealer for inspection. Also, please reply with the pictures to this email. Your pictures will help give us an idea of what kind of cracking has occurred. We probably asked you before but do you use any tire cleaners or park next to a gas can or fertilizers. These things can be absorbed into tires and cause excessive cracking. During your tires inspections, please have the dealer call us at the 800# below. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you. The Reason I Did This Post is to Make You Aware to Check Your Tires. Let me make this point, I am not ragging on Avon Tires. I like them, last year when we was loaded, two up, in Vegas (with a wind storm of 69mpr and 6" of Rain in 10 min that hit us so fast from behind we didn't have a chance or no place to pull over) the Avons handled Great. So paperboy don't go changing your mind on Avons yet. The front tire they replaced has no problems, it is just the back tire this time, but still a concern. Later-

    Yes, the cracks are on both sides of rear tire like the pictures of Condor and Bummer. The front tire this time appears not to have those cracks and both tires were made a the same time, Supposidly. Later-

    Hey All, TIRE CRACKS-ANYONE ELSE? I am just starting the riding season for 09. Checked the Avon Tires, and like last year, Weather Cracks all around the Rear Tire. Last year, it was weather cracks on both tires. I am Really Concerned considering that these New Tires were just made (not sitting in the warehouse) and shipped to the Bubbas for installation at this time last year. I just wrote Avon and waiting for a response. Bubbas in Linwood Michigan took Great Care of me last year with this problem, and after Avon verified the tire tread depth was way within the ratio, Avon admitted it was their fault, and paid for New Tires and Installation, but Blamed the Cracks on Tires sitting around to long in the Warehouse. The front and rear tires on my RSV now have a tremendous amount of tread left, almost like brand new. These Avons ware great. But, as much as I like these Avons, I am unsure if I should put another set back on. Everyone Please Check your Tires. Later-

    Work, whats that. I no longer even apply to the Unemployment %, been out of work so long. If I found a job now, everyone would have a heart attack, don't want to do that to my family and friends.     Handle it Politically- I'm sure this Mayor is just trying to be some big shot (like in Rambo), and he knows that about 80% of all motorcycles have been modified with louder pipes. I'm sure he believes, that motorcyclist in general are all a bunch of broke loosers or trouble makers, and this new Bi-Law will keep us out. All Motorcycle group Presidents should write this Mayor a letter expressing the dissatisfaction they have on his new Bi-law, and how many Millions of Dollars we as Motorcyclist bring into communitys like his, especially during a bike week. If that don't work, get a article on Front Page of Local newspaper (or CNN if needed) stating how this Mayor does not approve of the Millions of Dollars that Motorcycle Revenue brings in. And how this adverse effect in Loss of Revenue, will cause the Community Residents to Pay a Increase in Tax Dollars, due to the Mayors decisions he has souly made for the Local Residents and Businesses of Myrtle Beach. I am sure that will go over well with all the residents and businesses. Let see how popular he will be. Just a thought, Later-

    Hey Guys, the RSV should not bottom out at 400 lb, even with a bad shock!!! I have a bad shock on mine, and it was rode with way over 400 lbs. There is probably something broke on this bike, if so it is not the safeist to ride. Jam that rear tire hard enough into the fender, going fast or a corning, it will cause the rear end to slide out. Get it to someone who knows what there doing. Sounds like the dealers around you have no common sense or do not have properly trained mechanics. Sorry to be so rude, just really don't want to see someone get hurt because of this problem. Later-

    Feel your pain Brother. Michigan has a horrible economy. Mom & Pop business closing up everywhere. I'm out work, sorta, and if things don't turn around for me by end of month mine will be for sale also. Hate to see mine go, just getting broke in with 40k on her. Later-

    07 with 50,000 miles is at least twice as normal, but still alot of Factory Warranty. That bike is barly broke in. If it was me, after I test rode it and if you like it, BUY IT. Just remember it shifts different than the V-twin, Let her wind out or she will buck you. Good Luck

    Good Comparison. Last Aug our West Trip was with friends Dave & Maria that have a Ultra Classic. Dave 5'9" 260, Maria 5'6'' 160 both big bone. I'm 6' 210, Charlene 5'3" 140. We switched bikes for a bit. I felt the Harley diffently had more responce of power at take off, and lower speeds. It also handled a little better. At higher speeds the RSV. I like the look of the RSV fairing, but the Ultra blocks the wind better. Charlene and I are so used to the length of RSV, to us, it is much more comfortable, especially for her. I did not really care for the constant vibration from motor thru my hands, it was a numming feeling after awhile. I like the guages on the Ultra, but I also like the dash on the RSV, even trade. The Ultra had a spot for a round flat disc that plays music, never herd of such a thing, must be new. To me when you buy a bike it should Fit You, not everyone around you. To me, I like the RSV, but the Harley is a close second.

    Hey Wayne, few years ago I switched to the Avon's 130 front, recommended by Squidley (Thanks Brad). Very Glad I did, made a big difference to me on how it handles, but like you I did notice a bit more movement on highway. Figured, that was okay to live with, and a good trade for handling. Last August, fully Loaded, two up, a storm came over our sholders and we was hit with 67 mpr winds and 6"rain in 10 min on the highway in Vegas, the Avons never gave me trouble. Yes, we was finally able to seek cover, very scary, but no problems with the smaller front tire. Good Luck, Later-

    Shep, glad to see you two are okay, and our thoughts and prayers are with you both for a speedy recovery. 19 years ago on New Years I was a bad wreck in a cage hitting the cement divider wall on the highway and flipping end for end several times. They found me 8 hours later with a whole lot of broken bones, so from experience take your time healing and don't try to do to much. Good Luck and get back on and ride. Later-
