1. This is one of the few times I love living in southern california...it gets cold, but i can ride all year long!
2. Got em, installed em, love em! I had some super bright "spotlight" type beams before and I could tell the cars in front of me were hatin em! but these put out some great light! Well worth it!
3. I also live in Hemet, i would be willing to help you out as well...just let me know. Clint
4. Glad you're able to talk about it...The bike will get fixed...or replaced...Your safety is definetly a good trade off for some cracked plastic and mechanical work. Out of curioustity...where in SoCal..and which road if you dont mind me asking.
5. Use the above link from Mikewa...scroll down to the 15 inch ultra led light bar...this will fit perfectly between the helmet locks under the trunk. It gives you three LED's as running lights and 8 LEDs as brake lights. I also added a "back off" device to this light bar so it blinks a few times when i hit the brakes. I also added the integrated run/brake/turn signals lights (also from custom) to the back...gives me a bunch of running lights and brakes lights as well I just recently added the side reflector LED lights as well. Let me know if you need any of the info
6. for me, 2nd gear is around 65 (indicated) and third is close to 90 mph...still trying to find the elusive 4th gear limit!
7. I have a Garmin 765t that i picked up on Ebay for about $75. The unit works great and has for about the last 10,000 miles. I love the lane assist feature, the blue tooth, and the built in MP3 player. I carry a heavy gauge plastic bag with me for heavy rains but my mounting location keeps it from getting wet from a light rain. The waterproof models are great but you pay for them...Good luck!
8. Those other photos sure do show the bear closing the gap...looks like somebody ate well that night!
9. I'm out here in southern california...its a frigid 75 degrees out right now...that damn big orange thing in the sky is shining so bright i need to put special dark glasses on...and i think it might rain for a few hours in the middle of december this year...I really hate riding in this weather...i think i'll just stay home and eat some ice cream instead!
10. My hopnel bib has a clear section on the pouch that perfectly fits my ipod classic. I already ran the audio cable down so it works beautifully. I can change my playlists without having to take the ipod out too.
11. HJC Symax modular...great ventilation and you have options! about $160 if you shop around
12. Darn..I was hoping that your's didn't! (i was guessing) The 2nd Gen's whine for a good reason....and once i figure it out...I'll let you know what that good reason is!
13. I have the windshield pouches as well as the tank bib which has a pouch in the middle. As far as the garage door opened, i just have mine velcro to the underside of the fairing...makes it easy to hit the button when i get home.
14. I know that it does, i just got careless...I usually run mobil 1 Synthetic...but apparently when i grabbed the jug last time i wasnt paying close enough attention and grabbed an "EC" one...oops...only cost me $350 and a couple hours of my time
15. Yours may be faster..but mine has a tape deck!!! ....So there!!!...
16. Buddy, So sorry to hear about your dad...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Clint
17. I know this thread is dead as a doornail, but i was looking around and found it... After my clutch change i opened her up tonight to...ummm...check my clutch! I was using my GPS so the speed is true. I hit 110 mph and she still had more to give but i backed off since i was coming up on some tail lights. This is a huge improvement from the top speed of 85 i was dealing with before the clutch work.
18. I have 27,000 miles on her right now. I started feeling a little slipping around 25,500. NOW...with that said, I messed up and put "Energy Conserving" oil in the bike during the last oil change. I made a boo boo and didnt check. So that probable had a lot to do with the clutch going early on me. If you have 20k and have no issues, I would suggest upgrading your spring (either the upgraded Yamaha one or the Barnett one) before you start to have issues.
19. I too run the same firestik 3' antennas for both. I kept the two antennas as well, I like the look. Follow the link to the Marshall Mod posted earlier. I followed it exactly (with teh exception of the folding mounts) and i had no issues at all. It is a bit of a pain to strip the bike naked (fairing, tank, both seats and the trunk) to run the AM/FM cable but i took the opportunity to use dielectirc grease on everything and also to get some cleaning done on some hard to reach spots. Give me a call if you run into any issues. I can probably help out since i just did mine two weeks ago.
20. Thanks for the info as well. I saw that little hole in the resevoir and didnt think anything of it. I actually found with my fluid that as soon as I opened the bleeder valve, gravity was taking care of the problem. Fluid was coming out even before i could get the tube seated over the valve.
21. 2nd Batt/5th Marines is on Camp Pendleton...If you cannot get a hold of him through the red cross, let me know. I work in Oceanside (right outside the base) and I will find someone from the unit to pass the message on. Just let me know. I apent seven years on that base and I will agree the Red Cross is the way to go...I also believe that the Red Cross may not be able to assist you until the situation worsens... My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
22. Not sure what you are asking exactly...are you thinking about going to a single antenna for both AM/FM and the CB? Be a little more specific and you'll get a lot more help from the site. You can run both the CB and the AM/FM antenna from a single Antenna and there are other options for an Antenna instead of the stock whips. Check out this: http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-fl3b-firefly-foot-flexible-antenna-p-897.html I replaced both antennas on my 04 RSV and i love the results and the looks of them.
23. to be honest, I can't think of any little porthole unless they are talking about the bleeder valve itself (where the old fluid comes out). As long as you have the little rubber piece still on your bike you shouldnt need to do that. Let me know how the bleed goes...watch your paint..brake fluid will destroy the finish.
24. The clutch is done and working great. The CORRECT gasket from the dealer finally came in and she was put back together quickly. After i was done, i took her for a quick spin and found my release point was almost to the handgrip...i had read this might happen so i did a clutch fluid bleed and sure enough the release point was right where it should be! I posted the Clutch Bleed instructions on the Forum as i said i would previously Ruffy, thanks for the advice, the dealer came through but i will definetly keep that in mind for the future. Slickster, i have heard great things about Skydoc's kit. I just wanted to go with Barnett. I have run Barnett clutches in my previous sportbikes and like their durability. Besides, Barnett's HQ is just a two hour ride away from me and i was able to get all the parts i needed the next day. Thank you for the well wishes! Thank you to everyone who helped me out...I can now check this box off as this was my first clutch upgrade i didn't pay a dealer to do. If it weren't for this site and the great people here i would never have attempted it!
