  1. Thanks for the input, I will run out today and get some, or will find it online. Stu
  2. Does anyone know the recommended adhesive or foam tape to re-attach the side badges with? Any assistance / advise would be greatly recommended. Thanks. Stu
  3. I used the Caswell - Masey product on a Clarke Plastic gas tank (which are supposed to be impossible to paint), it allowed the paint to adhear. Its an easy to use gas tank liner - with really no odor to speak of. It will work with all types of tanks. Stu
  4. One of the first questions I would ask, is what are the other bikes that you want to communicate with using. That will often dictate what system you want to look into. Stuart
  5. Not sure any of you heard. But J&M will be offering a bluetooth dongle to work with their Bluetooth headsets. This will allow for full comm, plus CB, GPS, music etc. But as usual it's expensive - the base bluetooth dongle is 349.00, plus you need the interface harness listed below. They are also producing one for their J&M CB 2003 as well as GL1800, GL1500 and Harley. $600.00 total - but you can cut the cable. From their 2011 Catalog: JBLU-BHDG05 This is a J&M custom BluHub™ dongle05 module featuring our exclusive JMAHP (J&M Motorcycle Audio Headset Profile) Bluetooth®software profile, transmitting true stereo to 1 or 2 J&M Bluetooth headsets, with simultaneous microphone signals transmitted back down to the dongle. When 2 J&M Bluetooth headsets are linked to the dongle05, the continuous helmet-tohelmet intercom feature is activated thru the dongle. Rider and passenger can also each simultaneously link their J&M Bluetooth helmet headsets to their own cell phone or Garmin Zumo, while linked to the dongle05. This dongle05 is used to create a full featured motorcycle audio system, with stereo music, CB/FRS, Navigation commands, cell phone etc available depending upon the capabilities of the external equipment being connected. The J&M Dongle05 is powered by the electrical system on the motorcycle (no batteries in the dongle to charge). This new dongle can be connected to most motorcycle audio system configurations by using one of the special connection harnesses offered as an extra cost accessory to this custom dongle. (see options below) $329.99 JBLU-BHDG05-CA03 for connection to the Yamaha Venture Royale. $249.99 Stu
  6. You might want to check out this site, I believe they would be able to tell you about the Reckless Fairing (think a number of them have done this already). http://forums.delphiforums.com/ultrastar/start Stu
  7. I will be upfront on my Red 2000 Venture - I am a Gold Star Mother Escort. Always proud to ride in Rolling Thunder. Stuart
  8. I have one also. Bought it 4 years ago, and have never regretted it. Great windsheild. Stu
  9. We had a member of our STAR group do this, bu he had to make custom brackets to get it mount. It looked pretty damn cool when it was done. Stu
  10. I am using the Mixit2 on mine, and I have to say - it works great. GPS (w/BlueTooth) integrated into a Kenwood A300 master controller. This device allows for IPOD, HD Radio or Sat Radio to all be integrated into a single controller. I removed the cassette and replaced it with this device. I wound up putting the mixit under the fairing as it would not work in the Hopnel Pouch with my IPHone or IPOD (to tight a fit). Stu
  11. About 15" in North New Jersey. Stu
  12. Houston to Denver is a LONG haul. Its amazing how far 1000 miles is. From NJ going west, its all the way to Nebraska. My buddy who did this with me (this is his second) did the Butt Burner 1500 from Denver to Phillipsburg NJ - on a VStar 650 - the first 800 miles was all in the rain too. I am glad my first attempt was decidedly easier than his. Stu
  13. I just got back from completing my Saddlesore 1000 Iron Butt Ride. It was an amazing experience. I rode from Northern NJ (Morristown), left at 12:22 AM - met up with my buddy on the Turnpike and we arrived in Orlando, Florida at 7:37 PM, 1117.5 Miles. We had great weather and choose the hours perfectly and hit no traffic. We averaged 68 miles per hour (70 miles per hour moving average), and total time riding was 15 hours and 50 minutes. I wish to extend a special thanks to Rick Butler for modifications to my Saddlemen Seat. He made the seat so comfortable, that my saddle was not sore at all. Thanks Rick! Stuart
  14. This thing looks pretty cool - not sure of the faceplate dimensions - but could remove the cover and mount this - then wire it in - gives Sirus and IPOD / Aux in Interface. I like the compass module too. Would be neat to intgrate - take the cassette out and simply have this chrome face plate. The radio is a bit redundant. http://www.dragonflycycleconcepts.com/kenwoodspecs.htm Stu
  15. Thats the same one - and I found the same cable. There are 2 revs of this product - the older ones can only take a 2 Gig mini SD card max. The later versions can take an 8 Gig SD mini card (10 GB total). The power cable on the end is a bit large but you could fit it in the space.
  16. Thanks for the pics and thoughts. Here is a link to the vendor, he has been very helpful with samples of the material: www.dashkitmall.com I have the 2000 Red on Red Venture, and was thinking of using his Titanium Burlwood or Black Carbon Fiber. I also got samples of his Brushed Aluminum, Chrome (which is beautiful - but dangerous - too shiney), and Silver Carbon Fiber. Will post pics when I make my final decision. Stu
  17. I was thinking about installing a Venture Dash Accent trim kit. I was wondering if anyone had one installed and what you thought of it? I know Yamaha makes 2 (Wood and Aluminum) and found another vendor who will create the exact same kit in any one of about 20 finishes. Was curious the good / bad expierences? Any photos would be greatly appreciate of what you have installed. Thanks in advance.. Stuart
  18. Think that is an old Suzuki Calvacade. They didn't make it for two many years. As I reacall it the most monstrous passenger headrest. Stu
  19. A pair of Harley Slip (Electic Glide or Utlra Classic Stocks that someone has pulled off) ons - have had them for 4 years - not a blemish and on a V4, they sound wicked. You can get these dirt cheap on Ebay - I got mine brand new (guy pulled them off before he got the bike) for $1.50 Stu
  20. I gave him instructions on what I wanted done to the seat. Stu
  21. Rick re-worked both my Stock and my Saddlemen. My wife was infinitely happier after the mod. Both seats are now much more comfortable. He also fixed the problem with the Saddlemen seat sloping towards the front of the bike. Stuart
  22. I had the 1 1/2" risers on my bike. The rubber spacers could go back in with a little push. Also - if you use the ShowChrome Gas Tank chrome cover (replaces the black one), the handlebars will rub against it. Just a heads up. Stuart
  23. I fixed the low gear on First by swapping the 15t in the front for a 16t - not as much grunt, but better riding street. Stu
  24. I have ridden them a couple of times. I would not want to take it on major roads or highways, but backroads or local commutes are fine. I have an XT225 I use for the same purpose, might want to check it out also. Stu
