  1. Look in the VR assistance page for folks in that area, they would be able to help you and know of some repair places. BTW the slave is on the left side of the bike, behind the oval cover at the back of the engine. There is a rubber top over the bleeder (but you already know that as you bled the system) I have a feeling that you just need to do some more bleeding if you have replaced all the fluid. Let us know how it turns out and we'll help get you rolling
  2. Don, Those are a nice set of lights and I couldn't find anything in that shape when I was looking. They should match the shape of the headlight and if made by Hella should stand up pretty well, thanks for posting that up and giving others here the added choice
  3. Were still rolling along....and now we are half way there. I have totalled up the donations so far and we have $1595.13. I can't thank everyone enough for jumping on board with this, but were only half way there. Please if you can spare $5 send it along, it's many small ones that will make us over the hump. I'll keep you all informed as it all happens, Thank you all again
  4. I know what you mean Boomer, I take my bags off every time I clean the bike. Way easier to inspect and clean in there
  5. You crack me up GW
  6. I haven't heard of anyone doing that....but you can be the test bike for us if you want
  7. Your gonna get lots of opinions here, but I'll say this DONT BUY 880 METZLERS! I know there are folks here that use them with no problems. But there are many here that have used them and had chunks of their tires come off. 2 tires I will run on any Venture, Michelin Commanders or Avon Venoms, the Avons are my best choice. I know folks run the Dunlops and love them. I dont like how Dunlops handle in the rain ( I haven't tried the E3's yet and probably wont) They will track a tar snake and I have had a tar snake in the rain grab the front tire and yank the bike over. As soon as I can I will be taking the Dunlops off my '08 and put Avons on it. Tires are a funny thing as there are as many tires as there are different riding styles. If your a highway man, perhaps the Dunlops are for you. if you like to get in the twisties a bit then the Michelin or Avon is good for you. A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing sometimes
  8. Allen, As long as the square lights aren't HUGE they will work. I had a guy buy a set of them on ebay and he wrote me back and said they vibrated a lot. I looked at the lights he installed from Hella and they were enormous almost 8" across and 4" top to bottom. These brackets wont handle that kind of weight or surface area. The ones I responded to Humpster work very well and I am fairly confident that yours will work just fine with these. Matter of fact, I'll guarantee that if you dont like them or they dont work for you....I'll give you your money back, Hows that
  9. I actually have use lights that I bought at Walmart, they are made by Optronics I have used part # QH-7CC http://www.optronicsinc.com/competition.htm and the ones that are pictured in the ad in the classifieds are Part # QH-75IT http://www.optronicsinc.com/proburners.htm I swapped out the 55 watt H3 bulb with one from Hella that is 35 watts to keep the power consmption down
  10. Now did we really think that they were going to change anything this year It's still an awsome bike and I wouldn't buy anything else, I love them so much I bought a new one I have to say though, as much as I love my Charcoal Silver color, I would take one of the Raven/Seashell in a second. I REALLY like that color combo, the Red Black ehhhh
  11. Not wanting to be a stickler, but Mother and Rooster both have 1st gens and have had this happen. I know of 2 different guys on Harleys that have had the problems too. Best piece of advise is check your tire pressure often and keep them maxed inflated. I really dont want to see any of our members have to go through the crap that others before them have endured.
  12. Boomer, Hiliss is one of our members here and I have a set of his quick releases, they work great For the price you can't hardly go wrong as it would be a few hours to make them ( I did make a set before on my '99) and buying all the parts would be over a $20 bill, at least it was in my case
  13. I have bought some off from ebay before and I know that Rick H at Buckeye Performance carries them also, he might be tyhe quickest and easiest bet http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/
  14. Gerry, I did recieve it and your brackets were shipped Saturday, you might even see them today. Haven't had much of a chance to email sorry about that
  15. The one thing I would like to mention is if it's going to be a huge expected turnout, is to have a route setup that is escorted by the police. I have lead groups of up to 30 bikes, the logistics can be a nightmare. Your going to want an escort if your involved with a large group. I really dont like going on huge rides like that as I have no idea the skills of the other riders. I know that many are for good causes, but I'd just as soon give the gift and not go on the ride.
  16. Nice job Charlie, curious to know if you had any problems installing them back into the lower leg as the rubber band is taking up some of the space where they snap in?
  17. Are you reading through the plug boot to the open end of the wire where it pushes into the coil? The boots are a resistor type and I know that in their age they can corrode up and cause all kinds of problems. For about $40 you can replace all of the wires and boots and not have to worry about anything....just a thought
  18. Chuck.... Here is customer relations # http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/contactus/home.aspx If you need help I'll bring my bat
  19. Were too honest to be politians...but thanks for thinking of us
  20. Tim, Here is the link to MAW online, I have used them before with good results on a few occasions. The fork springs are part # 111112 or the MAW # is M02990 they are $55.95 http://www.mawonline.com/newsite/progressive-fork_springs.htm
  21. How long has it been since a complete tune up was done on the bike? I dont know how long you have had it, but the 1st thing I do when I get a bike, 'specially if it's used, is a full tune up. Another thing I do whenI put the wires on a 1st gen is take a small pick and inset it into the wire end that goes into the coil as it will help it center itself on the pin.
  22. Thanks for the update Dale, let her know we are pulling for all of you
  23. I can relate, mine and the diabetes sometimes can scare the hell out of me....they are a tough breed some of them. Glad to hear your is on the mend
  24. You state that very well, thats what this place has turned into...and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm glad to see that it affects folks this way, it still does me Darrell......5 minutes in the time out corner
