  1. Some several years ago, the company I worked for, in Columbus Mississippi, hired a service manager from a dealership in what he called "Indian-no-place" (Indianapolis). He made fun of us southern folks closing down with just the hint of winter precipitation. Well, we got some and after that he had a VERY healthy respect for the "southern snow". What he didn't realize that most time when we get a 2-4" accumulation of snow, it is preceded by at least a 1/2" of freezing rain and or sleet. Kinda makes the roadways as slippery as an Ice rink. He wasn't use to ICE. By the time he got to work that morning, he was awfully pale and did not kid me anymore about the chains on my car!!!

  3. Was up to 39F yesterday and the sun was shining brightly so I ran errands on the scoot. Got in about 50 miles... This morning it is up to 38F but raining... Sooo, and look out the window. May just go back to bed.

  9. Good for you!!! Persistence (aka nagging) will in most cases get results. In you case looks like it did. Prayers sent! Good Luck!!! Walter, Betty and Wes
  10. Just wondering if the cool snap has caused an ice jam in the wires to the Chat Room? Tried IE8 and Firefox, both timed out...

  12. I had planned on running some errands today on the scoot, as the weather man had, yesterday, predicted partly cloudy and highs in the 40s for today. WELL, he LIED... :bang head: Mississippi global warming
  13. I've had to do some with out a cage too, but wrapped 4 chains through the middle of the tire and hooked them as tight as I could, 'cause by the time you realize it's gonna blow it already did...
  14. Just posted an ad in the classified for the original equipment leather saddlebags off my RSTC. Added Venture bags to the bike so don't need the leather ones any more. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2546
  15. What do they look like? The factory "Venture" inset is missing off one of my saddlebag hinges, so I'm probably interested. Oh, yeah, price estimate???

  23. Temps here were in the mid 40s this afternoon, but the sun was out, so I decided why not, I'll run some errands on the RSV. Got over on the next street over and saw what I thought was another RSV parked in a neighbor's driveway. I turned around to see who it might be. Turned out to be an '05 RSTD. The owner, Charles, was step brother of the neighbor. Spent the next hour talking to him. Told him about VR.ORG, but he said he does not have internet. During the conversation he asked about popping on de-cel. I asked if he had ever done a carb sync. "Nah" he said "the dealer wanted $375.00 to do it!" The Stealership must have found out how hard it is because last year they quoted me $225.00. When I told him it was a 15-20 minute job he was glad he didn't let them do it either. We'll get together later and hook up my two vacuum gages to see how bad off his carbs are. Now back to my errands, Wally World for an Rx for the Mrs., then over to Brandon to Home Depot for a water heater pop off valve. Tired of luke warm showers and double water and natural gas bills. Another story for another time... Got home with that and the wife said she was gonna order catfish dinners and I needed to go pick them up. Well, ok, bike is all warmed up already, sooooo... By now it is dark and temps are in the upper 30s, so as I'm putting on my wind suit pants, the wife asked, why don't you just take the car? She just doesn't get it!!! I mean, that's a chance for another 15 or so miles!!!
  24. Just my but when installing the Stebel horn I'm suggesting adding a 14ga wire from the relay to the horn behind the left fairing. From what I have experienced that factory horn is MUCH louder after giving it a bigger wire and grounding it behind one of the mounting bolts. It adds a third tone and the harmonics make the combination REALLY loud.
  25. It is obvious the lady in the picture must not have access to the website...:crackup::crackup::rasberry:
