  1. Agreed - I see a good healthy discussion - not a can of worms and no personal attacks - as befits this site!!! Cheers Eugene
  2. I will have to try that "turn the handlebars to the right" - great tip! I always had a poop of a time lifting the RSV - one day I parked on a just a bit of a grade and had to get help. I'm 5'9" and weigh 150 lbs and in really good shape - still could not do it. Then, a little grey haired lady helped me by hittiing me on the highway - wrote the RSV off and I went to the RSTD - BIG difference - not nearly so top heavy and now I don't mind taking a passenger now and then.
  3. The exchange rate now favors the Can$ - $1.02 Friday. Banks and trusts usually charge about $.02 in Ontario so Friday it was $1 for $1 Hey Charlie - are ya spendin' that $500 or is this an investment??? I've been thinking about buying US$ for investment - should earn a few points in another year.
  4. HA - key phrase - "once they get going" !!!!
  5. Lots of good points..... I started riding later in life and since helmet usage is mandatory - I just got in the habit and don't think about it. I put mine on even if I'm just moving the bike to wash it!!! However - since I spend winters in Texas - I have been tempted to ride without one just to try it - won't do it because of habit - but it sure is tempting!! Luckily, the folks I sometimes ride with ALL wear theirs.
  6. Wow -seems like quite a spread on prices. That 06 RSTD at $12,500 with 800k sounds like a good deal in Canada. I was quoted about $11,000 as a trade (my 06 RSTD has 18,000k) on a Honda VTX
  7. Hey Charlie - you've spoiled the pictures of the dogs with that background!! ps - love the bull mastiffs and the english mastiffs as well
  8. HA HA - not no more amigo - almost the other way around!!
  9. You betcha I will - in about a month - I will be heading to Mission, Texas until end of April - riding season will be just GREAT this winter!! Agree with ya Bill, - this is a wonderful site!! Eugene
  10. I can also remember going out in my neighborhood looking for sex.
  11.:banana: Good one!! I actually quite liked my Dyna - just wanted to move up to a bigger bike but the dealers showed zero interest - maybe these days its different? By the way - I sure learned how to ride my RSTD from this site - ie - higher revs etc. Used to really baby it - now I rev it up and it feels like a powerhouse -- Thanks guys and gals - this site is great. Eugene
  12. Ditto here - although the dealer has been R-E-A-L slow to get back to me, he has been trying. Was totally unfamiliar with the whine - once we discussed it calmly - about 800 times and he made a few phone calls, he has called the Yamaha Rep who now needs to "hear" the whine etc etc etc - but I learned that it is more unfamiliarity and uncertainty than anything else. This dealer (Tennyson's - Ontario), has been excellent on the sales side (I was able to ride any new bike before purchasing - unheard of in my neck of the woods here!!) - the service side does take a bit of patience but overall, they do truly try to help.
  13. WIth all due respect, I disagree. My previous bike was a Harley and the dealer and company could care less if I ever bought again - ergo, I did not.
  14. Wow - I'm still listening to my little transistor radio. Don't know what's better - all in one or separate - each has advantages. Personally, when Blackberry gets to the MP3 and Camera stage - I'm going for it - then I'll have phone, e-mail, GPS, Camera and MP3 all in one!!
  15. Wow - this sure is a fun site!!!!!
  16. DITTO DITTO DITTO Plus - any "noises" whilst riding?
  17. Man o man - that looks like some sort of torture thingee......
  18. Heal quickly - hard to be thankful BUT you are alive and able to get riding again!!
  19. Hey Jerry - thanks for your reply - I will be ordering the Mustang. Cheers Eugene
  20. Sheesh - and here I thought you had a 2nd Gen - the bouncing metals are usually pieces of 1st Gens falling off!!!! Eugene
  21. Hey Don - thanks for the tip - I'll try adjusting the handlebars first as you suggested Cheers Eugene
  22. And to all - a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. We are blessed this year with wonderful weather, the colours are almost spectacular - SOOOOOO - let's all be truly thankful for what we have!! Eugene
  23. Hi Steve So - ideally, what is the "proper" handlebar position? Is it possible to explain it? I sometimes feel as if I'm pulling on them a bit - I know I'm not pushing. Eugene
  24. Excellent points Kit - nice to enjoy the "thrill" now and again - MUCH nicer to cruise and relax!! Cheers Eugene
  25. Greetings: I ride a 2006 RSTD and the past few rides my shoulders and back get quite sore/tired resulting in my having to stop every 30-40 minutes. I have ridden about 18,000 km this past year and this is getting worse -( it was not bad at the start) I have been thinking about the Mustang seat and backrest. Those of you who have switched to a Mustang or even a Corbin - did you find this helped the stiffness and soreness? How about highway pegs - will that also help? Thanks in advance Eugene
