I will be able to do Maint day,The Skid in and Ashville but as of right this moment I will be leaving for Iraq on the 15th of July. Sledgehammer has agreed to let me store 3 of the bikes in his barn and ADC is going to come by the house and ride the SS bike for me.Mini may or may not be good on the web site. I am going to say I am sorry for all the pot stirring she is going to do while I am gone for the year. I will miss everyone while I am gone but ya gotta do what you gotta do so I am going over to work on as they are saying at the moment H60s for the Army and Airforce. I will check in as often as possible while I am over in the sand box. I will have Mini keep everone informed of my status while I am away and I am sure that she will set up a meet and eat for when I get home. Dont worry she will still make it to some of the meet and eats while I am gone she already started making arangments to get some riding in with a few of our members. Jeff

Peg I am not going to read all the replies to this thread but am going to make a response If the Hubby says you have to get rid of the Yamaha and get a harley get rid of the hubby He obviosly has no brains when it comes to bikes and the Ladies that ride them You are comfortable with your bike and like it so it should not matter who the manufacturer of the bike is. I hope this does not offend you and you will have to forgive me for posting this response but I dont like anyone that thinks that harleys are all that they are just another bike on the road. Jeff

Danob is correct I dont have the rubber or the anti wobble washer on my 83 or 84.the trick is that the top nut needs to be tight to ( it is the jamb nut to keep the steering head tight where you set it) Jeff

I guess that I should have told yall that the bike stays outside and I was at the Rv so no lightbulb trick,Had the scoot covered with a good quality cover. And the reason it did not want to start was the thick oil. I do not recomend synthetic oil in the older bikes due to the seals not being compatible. I dont think I will try the carpet with a small flame either sont want no melted plastic to fix. Jeff

Yup got to get to work 32 miles one way.The only thing that got cold was the steel toe boots and the recently damaged finger. Jeff

It was 14 degrees F this morning and I had to get an electric heater out and heat the engine up on the SS bike to get it started.Does anyone know of a block heater that can be used on a bike? I am hoping that I can get one to fit the oil pan on the Venture with the cooling fins intact. Jeff

It is mounted directly under the battery if you remove the air filter box you can see it on the right hand side it has 2 multi wire connectors that stick out towards the carbs. Jeff

head light technical "Stuff"
muffinman replied to barend's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
They are not wired that way from the factory But I have added some led light rings to my 83 as well as Clay18s so the turn signals are both running and blinker lights at the same time. Give me a call if you need any technical info 9196735095 Jeff -
head light technical "Stuff"
muffinman replied to barend's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yes a resolder of the board should fix the problem the reason that you have an indicator light now is that they jumpered only 2 of the 4 wires and it is showing a false problem. It is an easy fix just make sure you resolder all of the pins while you are in the CM some times after fixing the headlight warning the brake warning like to show up so do all of them and you will avoid that particular problem. Yep levis, T-shirt, flannel shirt, union suit, sweats, and leathers. No sandals against the law in NC. I didn't say I wasn't cold, but I didn't say I was warm either. Gotta get some better boots and gloves. Jeff
