Need carb and clutch help
stroker ace replied to Kross Kountry's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I recently put the rotella 5w-40 syn. and have about 800 miles or so on it with no problems yet. I usually run mobile 15w-50 but they were out, first time with the rotella in a bike. I have used the mobile for several hundred thousand miles before with no issues I guess I'll soon find out. -
The second gen will wheelie all the way through first gear, single or two up. Don't think you could get it to in second with stock gearing ( mine won't any way ). I had a 1200 wing that could throw you off in second. My

The wife has been looking for a used bike we spot one today had to turn around to go check it out. We pull up in his gravel drive and I stop, the 3/4 gravel under my right foot kept moving so I just layed it down in front of everyone. She is on the back wanting to know what to do, I tell her help me get it back up. It was a nice looking Vulcan 750 not what she wants though. No harm done just the embarrassment of laying it down.

Tires for a 2007 RSV ? Avon? E3 ?
stroker ace replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Commanders are made by Michelin. I currently have Metzler's on mine and have had no problems though others on here seem to have had some. A friend of mine runs the Avon's and gets around 8,000 or so miles out of a rear. MY -

fuel pump question
stroker ace replied to schulang's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't always hear the pump on mine if it's been sitting a few days it will run a few seconds. Have you drained the fuel bowls ? You can drain the carbs. or carb. and cycle the key and the pump should run until the bowls are full again. I'm sure others will chime in with better info. -

Keeping Track of MPG
stroker ace replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I keep track of gas mileage on everything I drive or ride. I don't go down to the tenths on miles or gallons usually but just a good average. It's something I've always done. -
Keeping Track of MPG
stroker ace replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That was the first big trip for me and the bike. It was a two day trip, we rode straight there ( with stops of course ) Live Oak, FL. Then on the way back took a few detures, seen quite a few things that I would like to have looked at. We were really pressed for time though so didn't get to look at anything. Premium is $2.44 gallon here TN I paid $2.74 somewhere on the way back. I was really impressed with the bike at the speeds we run at it was very stable. We followed a couple of tour buses on the way down. They had their own idea of suggested speed so I stuck it in the draft and let it eat. -

I run premium gas in mine also, the main reason I guess is habit both of my cars and truck are premium only. I just got back from 1,057 mile trip and used 25 gallons of gas ( give or take a little ) so around 42 mpg. I didn't think it was to bad riding two up and my idea of a suggested speed. http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif -
Do I have the famous "chirp"? Or?
stroker ace replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I appreciate the info, when time and weather permit I'm going to pull the rear tire and check. It's not actually at lean more of just off center /straight up kind of thing. I wasn't trying to hi-jack this thread with my small issue. I've put over 5,000 miles on it since getting it in July and just got back from a 1,000 trip. Thanks -
Replacement wheels for my Harbor Freight trailer.
stroker ace replied to Monsta's topic in Trailer Talk
I guess I must be lucky at it. I have over a 100,000 miles on my trailer with no problems. I put them on the ex-girlfriends trailer and she has 10,000 or so miles with no issues ( maybe that's why she is ex-girlfriend ). I couldn't get any mileage out of the 12" tires so went to the 13" radials. http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif -

stroker ace replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I guess I must have a terrible Avon Venom rear tire. The 1100 V-Star I had would do the same thing. I greased the drive splines in the wheel and the noise went away. I first thought it was the wheel bearings but it wasn't. I have no clue, it may not be the splines on my venture I just related it to the same noise as the V-Star had. http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif -

stroker ace replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
BigBoy, Have you tried to see if the noise comes and goes if you lean the bike ( left or right ) versus keeping it straight up? The one I ride does this and from what I know from the past. The rear drive splines are dry and kind of whine when you lean slightly around 45-50 mph ( my bike ). I'm not sure if it's your problem but that was/is wrong with mine. IMO someone else may have the cure. -
Replacement wheels for my Harbor Freight trailer.
stroker ace replied to Monsta's topic in Trailer Talk
Why not use 13" wheels and tires off of a vehicle? The older Honda civic's and Saturns had a 4 on 100mm bolt pattern or 4 on 4inch. The center hole may have to be enlarged to fit the hub. That's what I done on my trailer 13" radials, the tires dry rot before you wear them out and are easy to find. My -
K & N, do they help?
stroker ace replied to Kross Kountry's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'll agree with SunMan on this. I use them on everything I own, you buy them once and never have to replace them unless something stupid happens. I even have one on my lawn mower. I've never noticed any performance gain but didn't buy them for that to start with. My 2 cents worth. http://venturerider.org/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif -
I'm also from Oliver Springs. I don't know anyone here. I've been riding along time but bought the venture back in July. Mike
