  1. A google search turned up these after several tries... http://www.repairmanual.com/catalog/NU-2267 http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=4030803 http://www.onestopmoto.com/K_N_Air_Filter_YAMAHA_p/sbkn-raf-0673.htm http://www.gdlcycles.com/asp1/modetails.asp?ItemID=12-94470
  2. I have the adjustable lowers and love them. I just took a couple of pics and maybe you can get a better idea of how they look. Excuse me for the dirty bike... I have ridden in both cold and warm weather, in cold they create a bit of a dead air space that heats up a bit from the engine. In the warmer weather, they move the warm air right out of there...
  3. The J&M unit doesn't actually store mp3's, it has an aux connection you can hook up to your mp3 player or a gps etc... 40 channel CB, 10 weather channels and full intercom...
  4. I'm loving my Nolan N-Comm...
  5. I actually found that slowing down helped me when I was in some pretty bad cross winds last summer on my Valk, it made my reaction time better. If a gust caught me at high speed, I was across the lane and onto the rumble strips in a flash, when I slowed down, I was able to keep the bike closer to my line. I guess it's a case of whatever works for you...
  6. Then there's always the latest technology... Stackable drive laptops. You need more memory? Just stack those babies up. What do they cost? Peanuts, and the user interface is as good as the user could hope for... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www3.telus.net/drbar/pics/paper.jpg
  7. I had the same problems, the dealer said they had never heard of such a thing and replaced the control unit... $1200 piece of equipment apparently... I will get some di-electric grease for the next case of lock up...
  8. When/if you install an alarm, you'll find that the good ones are two staged. If a loud/heavy bike, car, or truck, rolls by it sets off the first stage which is just a chirp. The second stage is when the car is hit or tampered with, that sets off the alarm and also your pager if included. You could also consider a proximity alarm that warns off anyone that gets too close to the vehicle as well...
  9. Can you mount the boom a little farther forward???

  13. I was there, and you're correct, it was a great day for riding the 254km route... I was with a friend on his teal wing. I arrived a Deeley's just after 7:00AM and parked in the first lot. If that's a picture of your bike with the etching on the windshield, I wasn't parked far away from you. There was also a fellow, I believe his name was John, that was riding a RSTD. He belonged to another site and had previously ridden several 1st gen's. He was about 80 years old... $101,300 raised by just the pledges received from the riders, I can't wait to hear the grand total after the corporates are factored in. Best first year turn out and money raised in the 9 years the ride has been taking place at various locations across Canada.
  14. I'm assuming that you hear this as you're riding down the road and it last for only a few seconds at a time... If this is the case, does it happen in the same location all the time? It's possible that you're just getting interference from an outside source. Some causes of this are as follows: Automatic opening doors in stores and gas stations. Silent alarms if they have a wireless setup between the various zones. Large electric transformers. As to the static that comes through when you key up to speak... If you are on a channel that is experiencing a large amount of background noise, it will come through when you speak if your riding partners squelch isn't set up correctly. If I'm riding with a friend in close formation, I max the squelch out so as not to be bother by radios out farther on the same channel. I only back it down when we get spread out in a larger group... Hope this is of some help. Doug
  15. I use the Nolan N-Com with the J&M premium mike and speakers. On a long ride yesterday, my buddy on his wing kept asking me to speak quietly as I was over powering his headset. My mike sits below my lower lip and I almost always talk quietly into the mike. I'm going to have to agree with Freebird in regards to checking the position of your mike...
  16. Hmmmm.... looks like $85/ case
  17. +1 on the Ram mount. They make a good product and usually have a perfect match for GPS and bike...
  18. Found the site with GOOGLE... Stopped by several times in the last couple of years, but decided to join after picking up my new RSV this year. Doug
  19. Thanks for the thoughts. I think this weekend with family rolling into town from all over the continent, it's going to be a rough ride for my aunt's boyfriend. Don't know him that well, but he's going to be needing a friend in this family and I guess I'm the likely suspect. My injuries are getting better fast, mostly swelling and pain in the left ankle and calf, hope to be 100% sooner than later.
  20. AS a brand new owner and member, I only just found out about this rally. I would have loved to come but it's not to be. With that said, I would truly love a couple of T-shirts and patches...
  21. For us Canadians, last week was the long one. You're absolutely right about being careful, I just wish the cagers would be careful too. I was riding in stop and go traffic on Saturday, needed some water and relief from the heat, so I pulled onto the paved shoulder to remove a layer of my gear and get some water. As I rolled to a stop the Ford Ranger next to me side-swiped me. Minor injuries to both the bike and myself, as I was able to keep the bike up. Ruined a great getaway weekend. To top the week off, I was informed on Tuesday, that about an hour and a half after my accident, my aunt was killed in a M/C accident. Incredibly, the fault in that accident lies on the shoulders of another biker that was riding too close and made hard contact with his front tire to their rear putting the bike out of control and throwing my aunt from the bike. So, for those of you riding in groups, please maintain a safe distance between bikes and stay alert...
  22. I found the Wing riding position a bit uncomfortable, but that's me. I do have a Valkyrie sitting in the stable, enjoyed that baby right up until the day I got the '07RSV...
  23. I use Plexus as well, I've never found a better product. Cleans bugs as well...
