  1. I think my odometer cable just broke.
  2. ...for the assistance in recovering my name / password.
  3. If it's in here I missed it... What about the kickstand? If a bike is lowered and the OEM kickstand is kept it will raise the angle of the bike when parked. How will this mod effect the angle. Does the kickstand need to be replaced or modified ?
  4. After reading this post I started looking at the internet and discovered a great web site that tells you where every Farm to Market / Ranch to Market Rd. in Texas is. Just GOOGLE : Texas-FM & RM Roads.
  5. It's been awhile since I've been here. I live in a very humid area ( Tx. gulf coast ). The kick stand is hard to opperate ( it doesn't move as freely as it did when it was new ). For comparrison I went to the dealer yesterday and played with a new Venture that they have on theire floor. I did the most logical thing and lubed it with marine grease but it is still hard to opperate. Has any one else had this problem and if so were you able to fix it by just greasing it or is it something else I'm missing?
  6. I took the bike in to the dealer and they unscrewed my screw-up. It was rather painless. They pulled out this big driver with a long shaft. They twisted and twisted. Untill finally... pop. I was quite satisfied with their service.
  7. A while ago I got the oppertunity to test ride a Victory Vision Street. I don't know how many of you have seen this bike in person ( the pics do not do it justice )... It is deffinatley (sp) eye catching. Besides the futurama look to it, it rides very nice. It has some things I'ld personally love to see in the Venture, adjustable windsceen, very low center of gravity, a 6th gear, and EFI. I've also ridden a Roadliner. Another very nice bike. And again it has some things I'ld like to see in the Venture as well. It seems the the Japanise M/C manufacturers are trying a little to hard to emulate another M/C Co. (HD). I can't help but wonder if Victory is going to help light a fire under Yamaha's Toure/Cruiser lines and get them to listen to thier customer base ( me ). All in all, I'ld like Yamaha to take the best from each M/C manufacturer and make the best bike that they can.
  8. Thanks all for replying. I'm sorry some of you worked up for nothing.
  9. After reading another post here it got me wondering... Not all bikes are all things to all riders. With that being said, what would you change about your RSV? For me: 1) Engine; EFI. 2) Transmission; Get rid of that gear whine ! 3) Saddlebags; Yamaha, can you say, "quick release" ? 4) CD player; Come on, a cassett player ? Why not an 8-track ?
  10. Yesterday I went to the Dealer and purchased some Kuyakyn Iso-grips for the Star. You'ld think that scince I've installed the same grips on my '01 Roadstar and my wife's '06 Mean Streak a a few other bike that this would be easy. Not so. The left grip went on with out any problems. But, when it came to the throttle grip. that was another story. It seems that the good folks at Yamaha H.Q. have dicided that too many of you people were messing around with "Thier" fine motorcycles. So in an effort to curtail this they have installed accessory proof screws on their bikes. It works like this... One of you ingrates goes in to the dealer and "buys" a Yamaha motocycle. You go home with your new bike. You decide that "your" new bike needs a personal touch ( i.e. grips ). You buy some grips. You go home with your new grips. You observe that the throttle housing assembly is fasened together with "Phillips head screws". You find the appropriate "Phillips head" screw-driver in your tool box. You place the srewdriver tightly on the screw. You turn the srewdriver in a counter-clock wise motion. It strips. That sound you heard yesterday at 5:30 Pm Central daylight time, "@#&*% YAMAHA!!!", was just the wind.
  11. Knowing that they were 1%'ers I wouldn't offer any help at all. I've had problems with the hoodlum bikers before. I've also been present when one was broke down and some one offered help and the response from the thug was less than appreciative.
  12. You know something you're not telling us?
  13. Spring is in the air and riding season is here ( at least in South Texas ). Last week the wife and I went up to Wimberly for a day trip. Round trip we put about 500 miles on the bike. The trip up was fine but the ride back I started getting sore. Even a 2 hour stop in San Antonio for dinner on the river walk didn't offer any real relief. Wifey did't complain much because all she had to do was sit there and look pretty. Which brings us to the meat and pataos of this thread... I' considering an aftermarket seat. I had a '01 Roadstar and I put a Mustang seat on it. It greatly improved the comfort. Turned the bike from a 45 mile a day ride to a 300 mile a day ride. However, Mustang does not make a seat for my Venture. You would think that they would considering the popularity of this bike. So that limits me. I'm thinking Corbin, but I've never had one before. If any one has any experience with them please let me know.
  14. Thanks all for the input. I'm due for an oil change, I'll have the shop take a look at it.
  15. Now with gas prices at an all time high whats the average mpg that you're seeing? I'm getting about 31 city and 35 highway. I know its an 800+ lbs touring bike; is that bad, good, or par ?
  16. Go down to the nearest overpass and find a transient. Let him stay in your room while you stay in your cabin.
  17. I've been bussy with work and all. Time gets away from ya sometimes.
  18. I heard of an electrical device / switch / fuse / what ever... that will plug in to the rear turn signals and will also make them in to running / break lights. Has anyone heard or know what this is?
  19. It should of read " Tesspassers will be Violated! " and post a pic of the Banjo Player from Deliverance.
  20. I have a rock outside, kinda like the dog thing, however when the rock is wet its usually because the dog P'd on it.
  21. There was cheeze cake?
  22. Yeah, it looks like I'll have to go that route.
