  1. Thanks Don & Linda for the great shots. We really enjoyed meeting new friends and seeing ones we know already. Linda, the photographer seldom is in the photos. Next time hand me the camera, I'll be happy to takes some pics for ya. Ponch

Dan (Skidrow) and his son Jay and Vance (Vance) and his wife Brenda were there. In the last photo we were in Fayetteville, TX. From left to right: Friend of Don H., J.B. (Lonestarmedic), Kreg & Janet (Kbay & Lil Texas), david (ponch), Doug (Big Shell), Kathy (Lilbit), Don C. (Gunboat), Linda H. & Don H. (TX Venture), and another friend of Don H. 3. Great news. Congrats to Mom & Dad & you & Janet.
  4. Sonny, Go to http://www.ridelikeapro.com/ drop down to Motorman's articles. Just about everything covered in the DVD is in written form for free. You can learn all the techniques here. The DVD makes easier cause you can see the bikes going through the exercises. But in a pinch this will help. Regards, Ponch:080402gudl_prv:
  5. I practice the techniques each time I ride. Its funny how the points Jerry makes in the DVD come to life when they are exercised. Friction zone and rear braking practically eliminates low speed instability. Head and Eyes. It’s amazing how the bike goes where you look. (Don't look down) I haven't done any cone or tennis ball training, but I do go to my local Lowes parking lot and see how tight I can turn between the parking spots. Best I've done so far is two spots wide. Turning at low speed is no problem with friction zone and rear braking. I am getting better at the dip and lean. On a recent weekend outing, I turned the beast on a narrow two lane country road near Independence, TX two up! Lilbit was tauntin me, saying "gonna drop it, gonna drop it, gonna drop it." But I didn't. The DVD and practice are well worth the effort. A bud practices from the DVD on his Wing IN HIS BACK YARD! I think if I could do these maneuvers on grass you couldn't talk to me. Regards, Ponch :cool10:
  6. As been said here, avoid the front brake at slow speed. Had to panic stop going downhill exiting a parking lot. Hit the front brake and the next thing I knew I was staring up at the beast. All that weight can turn on you in the right situation. KEEP YOUR LEGS CLEAR IF YOU FEEL IT GOING OVER PAST THE POINT YOU CAN RECOVER IT. One member sustained some major leg damage from being pinned as it went over. Best purchase I made since buying the bike was the Ride Like A Pro DVD. Jerry knows his stuff. You can really learn some basic stuff that can save you some embarassment or damage to self and scoot! I dropped mine in front of fellow Venturerider.org members at a M&E. How embarassing. Also lowering the front or raising the rear can help with stability. I wouldn't bother if I was 6' tall. But I'm 5'8" and every little bit helps me. I originally raised the rear. Its just enough to help handling, but made the back taller which is especially hard for me at walking speed (especially with air in the rear shock). I plan to put the back down to stock level and lower the front. Also I plan to have Rick Butler lower the seat for me. Tom from Blanco altered his seat and it helped him considerably. 9. Welcome from Texas Ponch
  10. Love mine. I wanted a tinted medium unit (to see over the top), but hey had the large clear in stock. Only regret is in fog. Cannot see through it! I used RainX and Pledge. Didn't help in fog. Definately will order the medium next time. I may even cut this one down some. In rain, no problem. Vent is great. Custom flip at top really helps buffeting. Ponch

  19. You might talk to Wild Hair 39. He has some type of hands free mic on his Voyager. All I know is when he transmits, he pulls the transmit trigger and leans forward to talk into a fixed mount mic. Works great (if ya don't mind leaning forward to talk. :322:Ponch
