  3. http://www.gl1800riders.com/ Might find reference to others there.
  4. It's just something you'll get used to in no time.
  5. I run VMWare Fusion and it works like a charm. I can actually run two Linux VM's running an Oracle RAC cluster and winders. It's a MAC PRO w/9GB of memory.
  6. I now own stock in a fruit company ... as in Mac Pro stock that doesn't hang, or make you wonder what in the heck it's doing, blah blah blah. Funny thing is I'm currently running a 2 node Oracle 11g RAC Cluster using VMWare Fusion on this thing and I can't tell. Processors are about 15% busy. I can hear those Raptor drives workin though. What's that windoze thing you speak of ?
  7. On the gl1800 site their is a guy working on a turbo for the GW. Rear mounted -- has pics too. http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100195 to 195 hp, torque to 230 ft lbs ... so he says
  8. Agreed...you've got to see it...the pics just don't do it.
  9. Local guy will get it Sunday. If it doesn't happen you will know ;-)

  15. I saw a raider and sat on it. It is a very impressive bike. Makes that Harley look plain and that's not a slam.
  16. Sounds like the "droppers" need a group buy on trikes.
  17. Hi folks, I just have to share my experience with you all. I'm just a little po'd. I posted it on the Goldwing site too. I just bought a 2008 Airbag Titanium. I called Progressive at the dealer to have them swap the 2005 RSTD with the GW. They said that would be $150.00 difference. After that I thought my policy is 1/2 up and that is the balance to the renewal period. Well yesterday I got this mail that said my new rate would be in excess of $1100 for my 08 Concours and this 08 Goldwing. Dang, that just didn't seem right. Read a little further and it states that my rate is high due to 4 credit strokes and that my wife had gotten credit when she was So, I saved money for my daughter to buy her a car in her 12th grade year. I did that October 1st. Fully loaded Nissan and ended up paying cash -- after I checked what the lowest rate was from both the Nissan dealer and my credit union ... ~ 5.5%. About a week later my wife gets the new car bug and wants to trade off her 20 month old 06 Honda Civic. We do that and again check rates at the dealer and the credit union -- since the Fed had made some adjustments recently wondered if it had any impact, plus the dealer was really close to the credit union rate and wanted to edge a little more out of the credit union. On her car we had trade equity plus threw another 10K cash on the purchase. Now, I had a trade for the GW and paid the difference in cash as well. Very fortunate to be able to do so, but not without a lot of planning and time. So, I shopped for rates, have stellar credit, had my credit hard stoked 4 or more times in the last 24 months, ended up paying cash for most things and somehow my wife establishing credit at an early age is a bad thing. In escalating the issue I talked with the big dogs and they said more or less that their analysis shows that people with those characteristics (4 strokes and credit at a "young" age) file more claims than others...and I just admitted to the behavior. Go figure. Looks like the housing slump and the lack of trust in credit scores has moved into the creativity realm. I'm thinking class action lawsuit against scums like this. If you are a lawyer or know a good one -- talk to them. I'm sure there is some money to be made with this crap.
  18. I had that same conversation with the dealer in BA. They said the only time they have seen clutch issues is with any type of synthetic including blends. Even with the right designations -- or lack thereof. They were pretty convincing in you do this and you get that...premature failure. Hard to argue when they are saying it's everyday repair experience. YMMV
  19. Reasons for the GW: 1. I want quiet -- very quiet -- I found that I really like quiet 2. I want water cooled -- I don't want any issues being in traffic, etc... plus longevity 3. I need ergos -- harley's are a little smaller than the metrics 4. I want power -- huge amounts of power 5. I want to ride with people who wear helmets and most of the gear .. seems like harley pressure is just the opposite 6. I want an airbag and ABS. 7. I have the 08 Concours for SPORT-touring. Now I need a sport-TOURING bike. 8. Okay, now this one is for the wife -- separately controlled rider/passenger seat heaters 9. Ease of pulling a trailer I think the harley's are very nice and quality. I could buy one. I just think the GW answers everything I'm looking for. You harley lovers ... don't let #5 get to you ... just my preference. I just can't overcome some of the Vision styling elements plus it's air cooled. The RSV ... well it needs updating really really bad. The GW just seems perfected at this point for the current generation anyway. I'm posting the RSTD for sale. I will come back to sell the accessories separately in a few weeks if I don't get any bites. I know it's also a hard time to sell a bike...but a good time for MODs !
  20. or, maybe the Kings... I have a dilemma and some of you all have experience I need. I have an 05 RSTD. I recently purchased an 08 Concours. My SO wants to start riding again and she would like a "queen's seat" like on the GW/RSV. I love the 08 Concours for that solo ride and SPORT-touring capability but it's no 2-up mount. There really isn't an option of convincing her to ride on the RSTD. I've owned an 03 RSV and I simply won't buy another until it is updated as I want all the doodads. We have sat on a new Victory Vision and even though it has many features I can't get past an air-cooled motor being mounted in all that plastic nor some elements of the design. I'm also not too interested in HD bikes due to power and noise issues. I'm looking for something electric quiet as my 08 Concours ... I've found I really like that a lot. So, given all this would you convince me not to buy an GW for 2-up riding ? You have any thoughts ? Also, should I sell all my accessories and the RSTD separately ? Is that what you would do ? Here is the list: Luggage Rack Dyna3000 Baron's Reservoir Tach Water Pump Cover Oil Cover Utopia Backrest (may retro to the GV ?) Brake Reservoir Cover Left Side Air Wings Aluminum Radiator Cover BUBs Stock Windshield K&N Filters
  21. Congrats ... seems like I've seen one like that before
  22. Yep, I won't pay that kind of money every month either !
  23. I saw on another site where a guy bought the Garmin 376C instead of the Zumo 550 and it has some great weather displays -- with road overlays where you could see the route to take to avoid the weather. I think he pays 30 bucks a month for the weather service though. Under marine but has an auto kit and comes with the antenna. Check out the weather displays. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=325&locale=en_US See real-time weather on the 376C's high-resolution TFT with the included GXM 30 XM antenna and a subscription to XM Satellite Weather and Radio services. View vital weather data, including NEXRAD radar, storm cells, wind speeds, surface temperatures, forecasts and more than a dozen other weather attributes, so you can enjoy the water without worrying about the weather. You can also subscribe to XM Satellite Radio to receive over 100 channels of commercial-free music, sports, news and talk radio.
