  1. The RSTD is a great bike. As Squid said, just depends on the type / style of riding you might do. I bought my RSTD as I thought I still wanted the "cruise" type of bike - that I wasn't going to often have a passenger, never would be interested in a CB / radio (XM, IPOD,) would immediately loose the windshield, etc. WRONG. In retrospect, wish I would have gone with the Venture - but then I've "converted" my bike over to be able to handle all the above (at a considerable amount of money spent - not including the paint job). Also, I think the Venture will sit you slightly lower in the saddle than the RSTD - not 100% sure on that one, though. Take you time and pick between these two bikes out of the gate - you won't be sorry about either one - they are great. Good luck!
  2. Looks like you all are having an awesome time. Cruising is definitely a ton of fun - have done several.. Congrats.
  3. Hey, Jeff - visiting time is over - now back to the grindstone - :rotf:. Congrats to you and Margaret.
  4. Hmmm, where could we go with this comment :rotf:
  5. $105.00 dollars - how long does that take? We have a meet and eat coming up on the 23rd - come on over :rotf:
  6. Last year, I put the J & M 2003 Dual Unit on my 05 TD, with the new Nolan Helmets, J & M ear pieces and Roady XM - all from Sierra Electronics and had them install the speakers in the helmets. Nice people to work with. The unit(s) do what they are supposed to do - I get my music, if the passenger or other bikes talk, the music cuts out. I had the local Yamaha dealer install it. I don't believe they installed it correctly. I will periodically get tons of static. I have played around with the squelch and get this to work. Sometimes, I can't talk with the other bikes and I believe that is because of a poor connection between the helmet cord and patch cord. This year I got the Big Ear hearing plugs, so I had to buy the adaptor to be able to plug in those ear buds, and that seems to work better. My only other complaint on the unit is there is no treble/bass adjustment for the music, and sometimes listening to the 60's station, the treble blasts the old ear drums out. Having said all that, I don't know if there is another CB or all in one unit out there available for our bikes. I am going to be pulling the bike apart again in a month or so, and will look closely at how everything got wired - to try and eliminate the engine static coming through the headsets.
  7. I'd have a problem fitting my rear end in that seat :rotf:
  8. Wonder how it handles in the twisteis :confused24:
  9. Dang, that is some design you are etching into that windshield.
  10. Sounds like too much work to me, Kreg - go riding first - then do the work - you would have renewed energy :rotf:
  11. The music is great on their site - be careful moving your cursor around, though, you might win some money :rotf::rotf:Have a great time, Ron.
  12. That was a good read - thanks for sharing.
  13. I have the Kisan unit from Custom Dynamics on my bike - fairly easy to install. I agree with Kit - some people don't know what these are - and might do stupid things. On the other hand, I like being seen. I am still "playing" with when I use them - mostly on the two lane roads, often on the freeway and in town. But if I am riding with the pack, I will leave them off unless leading the ride.
  14. It's a chase truck to pick up all the 1st gen's going to a VR Rally?? :rotf:
  15. That had to be one of the best games I've seen in a long time. The G MEN just wanted it more - and what about that CATCH!
  16. MCN has an interesting article - and basically says, “Save your money.”
  17. Dang, that is pretty cool So I gues the question might be is the "shop" always that clean? :rotf:
  18. Hey, Don, you know the old addage - if you have to ask what the cost is, probably way too expensive for the return on the dollar.
  19. Good one, Condor - keep 'em guessing :rotf:
  20. Please don't forget to check out the VentureRider IV - West Coast Rally Poll going on under VR Polls. We're going to be closing that poll here shortly, and want to make sure everyone has had a chance to be heard. Thanks.
  21. Congratulations for both of you - that is great news.
  22. Hey, Kit - great looking bike - hope this one bring you many enjoyable miles. And as someone else said, let the chroming begin :rotf:I have seen some of those wings all tricked out - they look sharp to start - and can get really sweet with the right amount of safety features added. Enjoy those new brakes.
  23. Hey, Brad - sorry to see you having to go through this exercise, but it makes sense. Hey, if you think the air cleaner covers and your tool pouch will work on my RSTD (don't see why not), I'll take those.
