No, 6'5. Smart aleck. I really don't believe anyone makes MC boots to fit me.
-
Let me know if anyone knows of MC boots size 14 EEEE. I've never been able to find any. I'm currently wearing Matterhorns which are made in the USA. These are not MC boots but are boots we buy for my job. Very comfortable, waterproof and very warm.

Drivers Back Rest for Stock seat
Bigfoot replied to Deacon's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I put the Utopia on and had to remove as soon as I hit the street. Being tall created a problem and I think any backrest would have been a problem. When I turned into a parking lot the end of the bar hit my knee almost causing me to crash in the turn. Once I put risers on this took care of the issue. I reinstalled the Utopia and really do like it. It's still causes me to be a little too far forward but the trade off with the less painful back seems to be worth it. I'm 6'5 so consider this when installing the. If you're under 6 foot then I doubt you'll have any issues. -
I'll look into a couple of dates and locations and post it on here. Any other Venture meets I need to know of so I don't interfere with those?
-
Just wondering if there might be an interest in a Venture meet sometime in the Spring of 2009? I'm thinking around the Harrisonburg Va. Charlottesville Va area. Some beautiful day rides in the area in the mountains in Va and WVA. I'd be willing to try and locate a hotel that would give us a decent price if there is enough interest. I'm not trying to replace the meets already held on here, just trying to put together one I can actually attend. If you've never been to this part of the country it's truly a gorgeous place.

Clay, My son in law was slated to go to Irag this Oct. He's in the Marines and he's already done one tour in Afghanistan. Now they are telling them they may have to go back to Afghanistan again. Do you see this happening to you?
-
I've also installed the risers and have only been on one overnight trip so far. The installation of the risers allowed me to put the Utopia backrest back on which came off because I'm too tall and I almost wrecked on my first ride, My knee hit the end of the bar while trying to turn into a parking lot. This no longer happens but on this trip I had so much pain in my right elbow by the end of the first day that riding wasn't enjoyable. The return trip was just as painful. Not sure if it's the risers or just a new pain I have to deal with.

Never mind.
-
Maybe but maybe not. The totality of circumstances would need to be taken into account. The guy had no helmet when stopped. A helmet was stolen in close proximity to the stop. If stopped by a local PD and this guy had a helmet on matching the one recently reported stolen then a good circumstantial case could easily be made. It happens all the time.

Was this comment really necessary?

Called job security. Stupid people.

Agreed. As a LEO I could care less if your lights are DOT approved or not. I wonder if it will cause you a problem during inspection?

What a shame. We'll see this brother officer on the LE Wall in DC next year.

Has anyone here changed out, or had someone else change out, the AM/FM on their ride? I have the 04 RSV and can't stand the stock system. When I leave the area where my programmed channels are set then it's a pain in the arse to try and change them. I'd like to get something easier to use and preferrably one that won't break the bank. I'm not particularlly talented enough to do the work myself so I may have to take it somewhere for the job. I'm ok with the stock speakers. I'm also hoping the new system will improve the volume for my XM. My Garmin has XM and the volume thru the helmets suck. I can hear the radio with no problems but the XM just won't go up loud enough when at hi way speed.

Hey now. The rumor I've met my demise is undoubtedly not true. Bigfoot

Are you really moving to Florida? If so, it's not quite the place it used to be. The bugs, heat and humidity and other factors come into play. I read recently that Fla. is currently in a trend where more people are leaving VS coming in on a daily basis. And as far as riding areas Fls. is not the place. Before everyone from Fla. rips me I'm from FLa. and I still have much family there. Quite a few of them want to leave as well. If you're really looking to move you may want to look at areas such as the mountain areas in SW Va, NC and Tenn. Some beautiful riding areas/roads. Fla? Not for me anymore. I did want to go back at one point but no longer.

I'm in Va. not too far from Seneca Rocks area. Beautiful area for riding. I don't believe the fog and such will be any worse than any other mountainous area. You'll have a blast.
-
Skid, I definitely do like riding in West Va. Some beautiful riding areas in your state. Not sure if the jobs are there though. I won't cross it off my list though.

Thanks for all the responses. I do love the looks of the weather chart for Arizona but the wife would never move out that way. I'll can see myself possibly moving to Tenn or south west Va. NH is still my first choice. And by the way. When I say retire I mean retire from my current job of 30 years and go get another job. I wish I could actually retire but it won't happen.
-
This is definitely one of the areas I'm looking at. I love the state of NH and could see me living there. I have a friend who is a real estate egent there and she's always looking for something for me.
-
Okay. I can retire next year with 30 years at my job and I'd love to move from my area. (Northern Va.) The traffic alone is killing me as well as the summer heat/humidity and cost of living. We plan on staying along the east coast but I prefer to be i the mountains or very close to them. My goal has been to move to New Hampshire but I can see the wife getting a little worried now about this move. We have one married daughter who is married to a Marine and I already know she doesn't want to move back to this area when he's done. My son is in college and he really hs no need to come back here if we're not here. We need to be somewhere close to doctors and a hospital and fairly close to an airport. I'm looking for someplace that's a little cooler, on average, then what we see in Va. I hear there are places in the Mt's in NC, VA, Tenn where people claim the temps are always 15 degrees cooler in the summer time. Any suggestions?

I've got the 2730 Garmin and I listen to it thru my bike's sound system. It's not as loud for some reason as the FM so it can be a little hard to at highway speeds. It happens in my car as well so I know it's not the bike. Other wise I really enjoy this Garmin.

As a LEO who has been investigating accidents for nearly 30 years I believe they do not work. Go to any junk yard and you'll probably see many cars with the whistles on the cars. One thing to consider. The idea is to make the deer take off running once they hear the sound. What's to stop them from running from the woods into your path once they hear the whistle?

Seeking Quality Yamaha Service near Fredericksburg, VA
Bigfoot replied to Two Tone White's topic in Watering Hole
You have Coleman Power Sports in Woodbridge. I've only used them for warranty work and so far they've treated me good. I can't recall the exit number but you'd exit off I 95 north onto the Prince William Parkway exit towards Manassas. Go up a couple lights and turn left onto Telegraph Rd. (7-11 here) Coleman is about a 1/2 mile or so down on your left.- 6 replies
