  1. Thanks for the info. When I get home I'm going to the dealer for a new pump. I'm not going to wait until it fails for good. Dennis
  2. It's an 07 with 25,000 miles on it and the filter hasn't been changed. There's a Yamaha dealer here in Sikeston so I may stop there in the morning and see if they have a filter. Thanks, Dennis
  3. We left home bound for Sikeston, MO this morning and about 20 miles from home running 70 mph on the parkway the bike just died like it was out of gas. A little sputter and dead. I coasted to the side of the road and checked everything. Kill switch was good, kickstand was up, ignition switch seemed to work, full tank of gas, fuel pump seemed to run, etc. I tried cranking it but it wouldn't fire. We set there a couple of minutes and I pulled the choke out and and tried again. It would fire and run a couple of seconds and then die again. I repeated this several times until it continued to run. So I assumed I had some bad gas or something. I rode on to Bardstown, about 50 miles and stopped a Walmart and got a can of Seafoam. I ran two tanks of gas with the Seafoam treatment as we continued on to Sikeston and we had no more problems other than very poor mileage. Riding two up and towing the Unigo at 70 mph I was only getting 30 to 32 mpg in 92 to 95 degree heat. Is there anything else I should check? Dennis
  4. My wife and I rode 310 miles to get dinner tonight. We rode from Lexington to Sikeston, MO to have dinner at Lambert's Cafe and we were not dissapointed. Rolls were flying everwhere and we caught a few before our meal arrived. The pot roast was excellent and much more than I was able to eat. I'll have to skip breakfast in the morning but it was well worth the trip. Attached is a photo of the giant roll. Here's a brief video I shot of the roll throwing: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHjjARZJNEY]YouTube - lambertsrolls[/ame] Dennis
  5. As Buddyrich mentioned you may be lugging the engine. I did the same thing when I moved from a v-twin to the V4. I don't think about accelerating in 5th gear anywhere below 60 mph. Before I installed a tach I thought it ran ok and I was shifting at really high RPMs. After the tach I found it ran much better and had only been cranking it up to about 5000 rpms. With the tach I let it run on up to 6200 and really felt what it could do. Welcome! Dennis
  6. I found a ride report in Roadrunner Magazine a few months back that I found interesting. It begins and ends in Jelico, TN and travels through east TN, southwest VA and northwest NC. I and group of friends plan to ride the same route in a few weeks and we plan on doing it in 3 days from Lexington, KY. Here is a link to the route on HD's ride planner. http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner/share/236707 For those of you familiar with the area, does this look reasonable to do in 3 days and do you have any recommendations for hotels or restaurants in the area? Thanks, Dennis
  7. That's a fair price. However, you should consider that for a few dollars more you may be able to get a new '09 which would have 3 years less depreciation on it when you go to sell or trade it. I had an '04 midnight and wish I had gotten another one in '07 instead of the blue/black. Dennis
  8. I've trailered my bike to Florida a few times. We go down for a week at the beach and if the bike is there it will be via the trailer. I would rather ride it but there are times when it is not practical for a variety of reasons. I've had people give me grief for trailering and I just challenge them to put the number of miles on their bikes that I do in a year with our without a trailer, 20k+ miles per year. Most of them haven't had their bike more than 200 miles from home. Dennis
  9. I haven't changed my air filters. The dealer did it the last time so I looked around on the bike yesterday to see about removing them and didn't find an easy way to get them off. Do you have to remove the lower fairings in order to get the filters off? Thanks, Dennis
  10. I use a Nelson Rigg tank bag for long trips to keep the cell phone, camera and other small item handy. It lays right over the headset cord with no problem and like Wrongway said you have to be aware that the bars will hit the bag when turned fully to one side. It's not posed a problem for me. Also, you have to move it out of the way for refueling. Here's a link to the one I use. 11. I too prefer the HD planner. I find it much easier to use than any other mapping software I've tried. And, like you, I've learned to zoom in on waypoints. Another thing I found when transferring maps is that it appears that if you enter a start point and end point and you like the route it provides the Zumo may route you differently once you load the route. So, I add waypoints along the way at a few turns to make sure it forces the Zumo to follow the same route. Works great. Dennis
  12. Same here. I've had several Garmin products including my current Zumo 550 and the support has always been good. I update my mapset about every two years. I just picked up the '09 update today at Walmart on clearance for $45. DT
  13. Nope, no 1 1/16 in the toolbox so it's off to sears for a 27 mm tomorrow. Dennis
  14. I've probably already got a 1 1/16" wrench. I'll give that a try. Thanks Dennis
  15. Thanks, I'll pick a wrench up. I've got risers on my bars and I think the open end will fit OK. Dennis
  16. What size wrench does the large nut on top of the steering head of the RSV take? I know it is larger than any metric wrench that I have and I want to make sure I buy the right size. Thanks, Dennis
  17. Try a hole saw and 90 degree drill and just cut into the foam a bit. DT
  18. I know you're looking for info from a 660 user but just for a point of reference I have no problems with my 550. People don't even know I'm on the bike at 70 mph and I don't have to yell. As Buddyrich suggested, I keep the mic close to my mouth. I'm also interested in the 660 performance because I have a friend that is interested in one. Dennis
  19. I'm back at the hotel from my first MD and I would like to thank Don for the great hospitality. It was great getting to meet new members and placing faces and names together. I didn't take near enough photos but here are the ones I did shoot. Looking forward to next year. Dennis
  20. Glad to see Donna is going to get back on a comfy seat. Good luck with it. Send photos. Dennis
  21. While changing my spark plugs tonight I noticed a lot of oil residue on the left rear carb and boot. The other three were relatively clean. Does this look normal for 23,000 miles? I am assuming that when the bike is on the side stand this is the lowest corner of the airbox and any residue drains to that corner. Am I right? Dennis
  22. Welcome Jonas, I look forward to meeting you Saturday. Dennis
  23. Thanks for the ride. DT
  24. From the web site it appears that the width of the trailer is about 26 or 26.25 inches. So it looks like you could roll it into a hotel room. That is one of the features I like about the Unigo. But sometimes I would like to have just a little more room and this thing may be in my future. Dennis
  25. We run our IC volume at 8 or 9. Any louder and the noise is annoying. We sometimes have to repeat ourselves. Dennis
