I and a couple of friends will be leaving Lexington KY at 5:30 Saturday morning and hope to arrive by noon. If anyone is going our way you're welcome to join us. Dennis

Oberlin Inn for me. Dennis

I can handle it and after everyone sees the photos we'll probably have a crowd, which is fine with me. Dennis

That pretty much covers the weekend. Thanks for posting. We need to make this an annual event! Dennis

Yeah, here's one from the front.

A few more photos from my friend Larry...

Yeah, I've experienced a "get off" with my helmet cracking a windshield. Don't leave the garage without one. Dennis

Amen for helmets! Dennis

Freezyrider just called me with the news that one of our friends just crashed near Madison, In. Joe and Donna, Kevine (Leadwolf56) and Sue, Lynn and Janice and John and Teresa left Lexington this morning on their way home and they hit a slick spot near Madison and John and Teresa went down and hit a guard rail. They think Teresa may have a broken leg and they are at the hospital in Madison as I write this. Please remember them in your prayers this Memorial Day. Thanks, Dennis

Vibration in grips - numb hand
Midrsv replied to oneway's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
While I haven't had much of a problem with numb hands I do have the Kuryaken grips without the bar end weights. Just this weekend I installed the Barons bar end weights to those grips and they seem to have helped with the vibration a bit. And as a bonus it added more chrome. Dennis -
More photos.. I look forward to seeing everyone else's photos.

Another great day in KY. We were fortunate that the 50% to 60% rain in the forecast didn't show up. We had a few sprinkles today but it was nothing to worry about. We had a very nice ride through the Red River Gorge area (http://www.redrivergorge.com/). We found a nice Hostel that served lunch which was excellent. We returned to Lexington around 4:30 and after everyone rested a bit we headed to Joe Bologna'a for dinner where we couldn't get in. So, our backup plan was to go to Cheapside Bar and Grill which turned out to be a good backup. It has truly been our pleasure to assist with the weekend. It kept me from doing yard chores. I've feel I've met some great new friends and they are welcome here anytime. Thanks to Joe for gathering up his Indiana friends to make this happen. Let's do it again soon. Attached are a few more photos. Dennis

Oh what a great day in KY. We met our new VR friends this morning for breakfast and a great ride through Central KY. We basically rode a circle around Lexington/Fayette County. We had 4 river crossings, one by ferry. Rode through come beautiful horse farm country and had a nice lunch in Harrodsburg followed by dinner in Midway. Attached are few photos that I got today and I am sure others got many more. Hope the weather holds out for another great day tomorrow. Dennis

Our VR weekend in Central KY is finally here and we've gotten off to a very good start. After the out of town folks arrived a relaxed a bit we met for dinner at a local BBQ spot and I believe everyone was well fed. It was nice to meet some new VR members, Bill & Marilyn, Joe & Donna, Kevin & Sue, Lynn & Janice, John & Teresa, Bob & Tina, and Dan. Now I won't take credit for remembering all of those names. That credit goes to my wife Valerie. Tomorrw we plan to meet around 8:30 for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel at I-75 exit 110 followed by a 125 mile ride through central KY. Everyone is welcome to join us. We should leave the Cracker Barrel around 9:30. I've attached a few photos from dinner tonight. More to follow tomorrow. It's going to be a great weekend. Dennis

I have a friend with an '06 wing that he is ready to sell. It has heated grips, seat, GPS, CB, etc. Very good condition and it could probably be bought for around $14,000. He just bought a new Ultra Classic. If you're interested I can hook you up with him. Dennis

It is a tall printer but the footprint isn't any larger than my Epson Photo 2200 printer. It is a workgroup printer and is designed for heavy usage. At $215 and you get 8,000 pages out of the included supplies it works out to $0.027 per page. Most inkjets probably only get 300 pages out of set of ink cartridges. At $40 for a set of ink cartridges that works out to about $0.13 per page. And with ink I was always having trouble with the darn things clogging up and had to go through the cleaning cycle which wasted ink. The C522 that I have has been trouble free and I use it to print portrait contact sheets for clients and the print quality has been great for that. Two years ago I paid $500 for the C522 with starter, 1.5k cartridges and no duplex feature. $215 is an exceptional deal on this printer. DT

I know this isn't bike related but we all have computers and thought I would share this. I found this great deal on a Lexmark C534dn color laserprinter with high capacity toner cartridges, $215 delivered. I already have a C522 and it's been great. With 8,000 page toner cartridges it's cheaper to buy this printer than replacement ink or toner for you existing printer. I just ordered two. One to use now and one for spare toner. http://www.pcconnection.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail.htm?sku=7224197 This is networkable printer with duplex and print speeds of 24 ppm (black) and 21 ppm (color). Here is the proposed agenda for this weekend. Hope everyone can make it. - The Indana groups should arrive around 6:00 Friday - After a little rest I have a private room reserved at 7:30 for dinner at Corky's BBQ in the Hamburg center which is only a mile or so from the motel. - Saturday morning we can meet at 8:30 at the Cracker Barrel which is a few doors from the motel for breakfast or coffee - After breakfast I'll lead a ride through the central KY which will include the farm area, KY river palisades, Shakertown and a ferry ride. - We should return around mid afternoon to give people a little time to relax before dinner. For dinner I'll lead everyone to Darlin' Jeans Apple Cobbler Cafe in Midway. A 20 to 30 minute ride and we should plan to leave the motel around 6:00 PM. - Sunday, Bob Myers will lead a ride to the Red River Gorge area with an 8:30 departure. If there is anything specific that someone wants to see please let us know and Bob and I will do our best to help. This should be a great weekend and I am looking forward to it.

I haven't been too concerned about the variation in readings. The only time it gets to 210 is in stop and go city driving. All other times the temps stay between 185 and 200. It just seemed to fluctuate more than I expected for steady state level riding. Dennis

For the last week I've been on vacation and have done quite a bit of riding and I have been observing the water temperature guage that I recently installed. The temperature doesn't seem to be very stable. Sometimes when cruising 60 mph it will hold at 185 and a while later it will be at 200, cruise on a while longer and it will drop back to 190. At first I just thought it was the thermostat cycling but it may hold the temperatures for 30 minutes or more. In the cars and trucks that I have owned the temperature is always very stable at cruising speeds. Have any of you with guages noticed this type of temperature swings? My guage is an electrical guage. Dennis

tank bag for RSTD
Midrsv replied to RandyR's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have a Nelson-Rigg MG950 that I use on long trips to keep my camera, cell phone, batteries, sunglasses, etc in. The magnets hold it in place very well. I have to move it to the side to fill with gas. I did a search for it online and found some good pictures that someone posted. They can be seen at http://www.pbase.com/mowheels/tankbag http://www.rawpowersports.com/detail.aspx?product=352&department=4 Dennis
