I couldn't agree more with everyone here. This is more than just a website, it is a family and families tend to disagree on occasion. However disagreeing and fighting are two completely different things. Have we as a country completely forgot the meaning of FREEDOM!?!?! Everyone has a right to speak his mind and everone else has a right not to listen. We are all here on one common ground; motorcycles. So we poke fun at each other some times big deal. I would bet that of all the members on this site there are no two who would agree on every single topic. If someone offends you just move on and know that you have probably offended someone else along the way.

The sad thing is that someone has already placed a bid on it. I think someone already said it here but that is un@#$%ing believeable!!!

Ditto! My wife rarely rides with me have mine off most of the time. I would like to get a backrest that I can put on so my wife can ride without having the trunk on. I LOVE MY STARGLIDE! I slotted the holes on the trunk rack where it mounts to the bike so I could take it on and off quickly and easily. As soon as I get my camera to work I will post some pics. If you want to know all the steps involved, email me and I will give you step-by-step directions and will try to give you pictures as well. My email is ihrigj@comcast.net

Thanks for the tip. I think I will try that before I drop $150 on a new switch.

I used to work on cars ALOT and in my own experience, it is good to flush out your carbs from time to time. They tend to get a great deal of dirt built up around the jets. It is more preventative maintainence than anything else and it can only help. Plus with all the crap floating around in the air these days, there is a lot of junk getting by the air filters. On my old bike, (a honda shadow ace) I would take the air cleaner off and shoot some brake cleaner in the carb every other oil change and would see a big difference in performance. The bike would start quicker and run smoother at ilde.

The first: I put the key in the bike and turned it to the "start" position and all that came on was the accessories. I had to turn the key back and try to get it to stay in between the "accessories" and "start" position to get the bike to turn over. Is this a problem that I can fix without having to buy a whole new ignition switch? I am hoping that something is just loose and can be tightened. The second: Not a huge issue but would like some advice. I would like to clean the carbs out and was thinking that I could do it the way I used to on my old Q-jet that was on my Chevelle; just shoot some brake cleaner down each carb and then run the bike to flush it out. I have done this on many different carbs and never had any issues. Is there any components on the RSV carbs that may be negatively affected by the brake cleaner? Thanks, Bubba

I was riding to work down Vasco road from Brentwood to Livermore. It was getting dark but I passed another 2nd gen venture going the opposite direction. It was too dark to see the color and I am pretty sure that it wasn't Rich99 because I think it had the dual spotlights with the headlight. I was wondering if it was anyone here. This was at just a little after 5:00 PM on Thursday afternoon. I was traveling south bound on Vasco road still close to Brentwood. Or maybe this was a mystery rider that has not yet had the pleasure of becoming part of our family. If that is the case, I will have to hunt him/her down.

I am not that old but when I was growing up, all the toys that I can remember said "MADE IN AMERICA" on them and they lasted forever. In fact, I still have two big boxes in the garage with toys from my childhood. Some toys were dangerous but certainly not life-threatening. We used to shoot pellet guns at each other for cryin' out loud. My favorite toy was a pair of colt cix shooter cap guns and they didn't have any bright orange caps on the ends of the barrels and do you know why? Because we had enough sense not to point them at people, especially not police officers. Sure we pointed them at each other, but only in the back yard when we were playing cowboys and indians. My Tonka trucks were made of metal, not soft plastic and I probably put more miles on them than any other vehicle I have owned. Those trucks have been burried in mud, sand, water, and rocks and (are you ready for this) 20 years later, I still have them and have just started letting my 2 year old play with them. I hope that I am not the only one who feels this way.

This should explain what to do. You have to plug the AIS system. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=485

I found a website that seems to sell everything LED. http://www.customdynamics.com/harley_davidson_led_lights_catalog.htm This product is my favorite. Check out the video. It looks like it would add a great deal of illumination to the bike. http://www.customdynamics.com/maximum_led_license_plate_frame.htm

Does anyone know if there is a way to tint the windshield on a bike? I want mine tinted and I don't want to spend the money to buy a new one. I read something about putting the "stick on" tint on plexiglass and how it will bubble up but is there a way to actually tint the plexi with paint or dye of some sort? Any advice is appreciated.

I see that every day in California. The only difference is that they are usually doing two or three other things as well. I was riding down the freeway one day and saw a car up ahead that was weaving all over his lane. Being the "good cop" that I am, I pulled up next to him to see if he was falling asleep or worse yet drunk. Instead I found him talking on his cell phone with a cup of coffee in one hand, his laptop in his lap, a PDA in the other hand, a cigarette in his mouth and he was driving with his knees. All this while doing aobut 75mph down the freeway. What an idiot.

My son is only 22 months and he will come out to the garage and just sit on my bike while I work in the garage. He would sit there for hours if I would let him and he throws a fit when I try to take him off.

I ride a stretch of road from home to work that is about 20 miles long. During the summer, all the grass that lines the road dries and turns brown and every summer for the past 4 years I have lived here there have been fires on that road. And guess what the cause of EVERY FIRE has been? Discarded cigarette butts. The problem is that these careless smokers have no reguard for what they are doing. I am with you. It REALLY pisses me off. One time I saw I guy toss his still-lit cigarette butt out the window when I was riding behind him. I pulled over and picked it up and followed him. At the next signal, I pulled up next to him and got him to roll down his window and when he did I flicked the cigarette butt into his lap and rode off. I know it wasn't right but I think I made my point to him.

I saw one going the opposite direction the other day. Had to do a double take and almost hit the curb. It sure is a strange looking beast but it does look like fun.

I can honestly say without bias that Pioneer makes some of the best products on the market. The Inno is a revolutionary product that everyone will be playing catch-up to in the next couple of years. One of the biggest perks is being able to record songs off of XM. No more trying to remember a song untill you get home to download it. I am looking at one of these but money is an issue right now. My aunt works for Pioneer and she informed me that they had motorcycle riders in mind when they designed the Inno. Any feedback that a rider can provide would be great for changes for upcoming models.

Now that is FUNNY!!!!:rotf::rotf::rotf:

Like I said, I don't mind 1st gen owners. I will even go riding with them as long as I can ride out front so I don't have to dodge the parts falling off of the 1st gen.

Poster size would be cool! Could it be made into a file that we could download and take to Kinko's to print out at our own expense?

Parking in marked stalls..ediquite and safety
Bubbajbi replied to tony h's topic in Safety and Education
I think your best bet is to get a petition going. It might not be that the town is greedy, there just might not be any scoot riders on the city council. You should be able to go online and find the whole index of traffic codes for the area or go to your public library and do some research. I do know that in most places in California, you cannot park more than one motorized vehicle in a metered parking space at one time even if there is adequate space or otherwise marked. This is not targeted at scoots (although it would seem that way). As for the parking motorcycles parallel to the curb, I have never herd of that one. As long as you are inside the marked space, you should be legal. I hope this helps. -
I am relatively new to this sight and I have seen a pattern of distain emminating from most 1st gen owners toward 2nd gen owners. I thought we all shared the common interest of riding Yamaha's. Am I wrong? Every time there is a post about a problem with a 2nd gen, some 1st gen owner has to chime in with "...you should've bought a 1st gen!", or "...that bike can't keep up with a 1st gen." Why so much animosity? Is it because your afraid of change or are you afraid of not getting noticed when parked next to a 2nd gen? From the posts I have read on this website, it sounds like the 1st gens are falling apart. Oil leaks, electrical problems, brakes locking up and the list goes on and on. Some of you like owning antiques that are hard to restore and need to be handled delecately so they don't fall apart and that is probably why you own 1st gens. I do not hold that against you. But I think when we all admit that the 2nd gen is a superior bike then we can all start being friends and put this whole uglynes behind us. I accept all of the 1st gen owners appologies in advance. (P.S. Don't take it personal. I am only joking)

Welcome to the club, Adam. I purchased the same bike same color earlier this year and I love it. Like you, this is only my second scoot. It is nice to see that I am not the only young buck that rides one of these beasts. Safe and happy trails, Brent:cool10:

I wish I could have been there. I ran into Rich in Livermore and he said that y'all had a great time. It turns out that my "assignment" was cancelled. I could have gone after all. Oh well, I will catch the next one.

Texas Chopper, the bike that Peter Fonda rode in "Easyrider" (before it got demolished), and the new Yamaha Raider.
