1. Finally got the bike and trailer all checked out and ready to pack for tomorrow. I have noticed for a bit that the wheel seals may have been leaking, as there is grease on the inside of both wheels. I pulled the caps this afternoon, just to be sure everything is ok. Well both wheels are still full of grease, but the seals are worn. I think that is because the seal surfaces on the axle was never polished. I can still feel the tool marks where it was turned down. When we get back from Vogel I think I'm gonna make a warranty claim against H/F, for a new axle. Just wondering if any of you with H/F trailers have run into the same thing?
2. Hi, Im new to the this site. And have seen the terms 1st gen and 2nd gen. What are the years for them. I just bought an 88 Venture Royale that has been made into a trike, Im getting older and it harder to hold me and the wife up, so figured I would go to 3 wheels when we ride together. Still ride 2 wheels when Im alone. Took the bike in and the mechanic said it needed new carb boots and he is having trouble finding them.Does anyone know where I can find them. Thanks Ron:thumbsup2:
3. Tom

Protect All

At the Cody Intl Rally I won a can of Protect All cleaner and polish. This stuff is FANTASTIC! I ordered 2 gallons of it. It also makes my chrome wheels VERY SHINY! Thanks for whoever got this stuff to give away.
4. I noticed on this site that alot of folks replace their own tires. My other bike, kaw/ 1500 needs new tires and want to replace front and rear in the next few weeks. I'm mechaniclly inclined ,wrenched on cars for over twenty years and have the tools to do so. My question is, being that these tires are tube type is there anything I need to do as far as installing new tubes, such as not getting them pinched ect. and was told to use babay power to help in the installation. I plan on removing the wheels myself and removing and installing the tubes and tires. I have done car tires in the past, but all were tubeless. I guess my main concern is can I do this myself, or just remove the wheels and take them to the dealer or a tire shop and have them do the tires? Also a concern is the safety factor, never done this before and with only two wheels under me I don't want any issues. I will be purchasing a m/c jack in the next few days to do this, and recommendatios? Sorry for so many questions, but any suggestions would help me decide, your thoughts? Thanks in advance...
5. Ok last weekend I opted to replace both front and rear tires. The rear was pretty much shot so I decided to step the size down to help reduce the ride height a bit. I have a 28" inseam so the VR can get a little top heavy for me. Anyway I digress; I went with a Shinko 712 (100/90) up front and a Shinko 777 (130/90 6 ply) rear. BTW, thanks to this great forum I was able to get both front and rear wheels off (kneeling). While the wheels were at the dealership getting tires mounted and balanced. I was able to completely service the rear diff and grease everything up. Man those splines were dry as a bone and rusty (explains the roaring noise). I also repalced the brake pads while I was there. Once I got the wheels back I replaced the seals and bearings in them too. All in all, not a bad way to spend the weekend if you ask me. I have to say I am absolutely thrilled with the low speed handling however at anything above about 70 mph it seems the front starts to shimmy around a bit. I originally had too much air pressure all the way around so I dropped it 4 lbs in the front and 2 lbs in the rear. Bringing it to 36 front and 45 rear, even at that pressure I am still getting the shimmy motion (kinda like being buffeted by a strong crosswind) even when there is nothing around but me and superslab with no breeze. I have since dropped the rear shock pressure and made sure the front was as close to zero as I can get (progressive springs installed with heavier oil). I will see if that helps. If not I am totally puzzled.
6. Has anyone done or know of someone chroming the stock RSV wheels? I would like to do this to mine, but would like some feedback. I am not interested in aftermarket wheels.
7. Easy one first.... I have a HF Tag Along trailer and it has 8" wheels. Has anyone put wheel covers on their trailer? Thinking of getting some safety chrome covers. Would be covers from a golf cart company. Golf carts use 8" wheels. Second... interested in an inexpensive (
8. Replaced the 70's style white wagon wheels with the red and blue pinstripe for some nice aluminum wheels. Now I just need to paint it galaxie blue and raven black to match the bike. Hopefully J-Bird will be at MD so he can pistripe it to match the bike. Let see some your trailers!
9. OK yesterday AM I get up at 0330 and head to Houston for a 3-4 hour supposedly job doing some Modifications on the Wing/\..It turned out to last all day and didnt leave Houston for Home till nearly 8PM last night arriving home around midnight. Here Is a list of what I did. 1. Progressive front springs 2. "All Balls" Head Bearings.(Didnt need YET but most Gold Wings will need to upgrade due to a front end wobble 3. Centramatic wheel balancers, front 2 and rear 4. CHROME WHEELS (Eye Candy) 5. Handlebar risers OK,here is the report: The front end and feel is AWESOME. I was skeptical about doing the Centramatics but figured since I rode one with them and it seemed to make the older Wing ride better than mine Why Not? My result..They are a FANTASTIC product and you cannot see them when installed unless you are really looking hard for them. It almost feels like it makes the bike even more stable and yes the balancing is great to. I keep wondering if it makes more of a "GYRO" effect"? Im telling you it almost feels as if the bike would stay up by itself when you stop .(I dont know how else to explain it.) The handlebar risers are fantastic, they cost me $25.00 but it raised the bars at the end about 1 1/2 inches and seems to have pulled back about 1/2 ,3/4 of an inch. I can honestly say that I now have the most comfortable bike Ive ever ridden because of this Mod. The "Chrome Wheels"..whast else can I say..when I turn on the "Ring Of Fire"and it shines against the chrome wheels man is it a showstopper. I had people in every town pulling up beside me giving me a "Thumbs Up". All in al other than the Chrome wheels it was $500.00 .For those interested the Chrome Wheels was $700.00 installed with new bearings seals everything ready to bolt on and yes he will ship them this way so all you have to do is order wheels, put them on and send your old wheels back..IF you dont wanna go to Houston to have it done for free!
10. Well I thought I had all the chrome I could get on my bike but I found a place in Houston where I can get a set of Chrome Wheels for $700.00 including new seals, bearings and Installed.. Needless to say I will be in Houston on 4/5/2011 getting them installed. I will also be getting a few extras that I dont need but I love to get things "Tweaked". I cant hardly wait!!!
11. Hi all, Building a tag along, and noticed that when spinning the wheels, there is a pronounced "wobble" in the wheels. Took the hubs out, re packed bearings, re installed, seated bearings, and still have the wobble. There is no movement in the bearing/hub... Placed a square along the axle with some gap between tore and square.... On rotation, a portion of tire till contact square, and then not. This happens on both sides of the axle, both wheels. Any sugestions. I am in the king of Prussia pa area.
12. The message below was in my email this morning. This is terribly sad, as T.W.O. has always been the go-to place whenever riding in the North GA mountains. Incredibly congenial hosts, surprisingly good food, a wonderful place to sit and relax, and a great place to camp-over have always made this a great place to visit. We Regret to inform you that Two Wheels Only will cease operation on March 15th 2011. We'd like to thank all of you who supported this establishment and the local community for the last 29 years. It's been a fun ride! Unfortunately the inheritors of the property that Two Wheels Only sits on would not renew the ground lease, do a month to month rent until they sold their property, or sell us the separate parcel of land that the resort is on. We'll keep you updated on what's happening. Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort PO Box 69 Suches, GA 30572 http://www.twowheelsonly.com

new tag-along trailer

Finally got some pics up of my new trailer. Its called a Tag-Along. Made by LilThoroughbred Trailers in Arkansas. They come with white wheels but I fixed that! The last pic shows the wheels painted black as they are now. I will be changing the rear lighting, going with all red lenses. http://www.lilthoroughbredtrailers.com/id2.html
15. Anyone have a suggestion of where to find either aluminum or mag 8" trailer wheels? I would think they'd be available all over the place, but not coming up with anything on the web.... I'd like to replace the steel wheels on the trailer with something that looks better...
16. for all you camper type riders , check this out , http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010/08/buffalino-tiniest-rv-ever.php I think it is a Class A motor home on 3 wheels
17. I'm leaving this week on a trip from Texas to Iowa. About 2000 miles round trip. A friend said I could borrow his trailer but after picking it up this weekend I'm having second thoughts. It's a 4x8 utility trailer with a 2x6 lumber floor and 1500 lb capacity. We got the bike up on it (barely) by putting it on diagonally, but it's a real tight fit. The thing that has me spooked is the wheels. Only 4.8x12 tires, although the wheels do have a 5 bolt pattern. I'm just not sure a trailer like this was intended for such a long trip. I'm leaning towards biting the bullet and paying $300 to rent the 5x9 utility trailer that Uhaul rents. What do you guys think? Thanks.
18. Here's the original thread... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46705 And here it is, (again) in stages of completion to almost completed (have a few lights yet to install and clean up the wheels some)
19. We're planning a visit to Wheels Through Time on 11/15/08. This might be your last chance to see this wonderful museum, as they are indicating they will close the Maggie Valley location at the end of this month. This road trip will be made in conjunction with the November North GA M&E. Please click the link below for more info: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=269216#post269216 Terry
20. Well, the knee is royally screwed up. BUT I got back on the scooter and have been riding. Over the past few days I have been out and running around... allot! Making up for lost time. I have spotted a ton of RSVs in the area. Even spotted who I believe to be Big Mike on his MM over by Rocky's ( the locals will know what that is) But I'm back on two wheels and not thinking of Trikes anymore. (well, that Exile Trike still calls to me) but you should see the limp.... It is something to behold.
21. I got "Brown Sugar" scattered all over the driveway. Cleaning a little and just getting to know her. How do you guys clean wheels?? I would just spray them off and let them go but don't seem right on this one. Those things are a B to clean! Tear fingers up!! Retire and ride my a** Only way I can keep away from Warden is tinker with Bike.
22. What is muderball, you ask????? It is "WHEELCHAIR RUGBY" and it's played at international level. I watched Australia and Canada play (on T.V.) last night--and boy! what a game. The last quarter was real bash 'em, crash 'em. Wheels needed replacing on chairs, and players rolling their chairs...and that's while they are strapped into it! They have able-bodied people who run out and pick them up, or change their wheels. I think these were the same teams that went to the Beijing Para Olympics. Well done everyone :clap2:
23. I am looking at some aftermarket wheels for my 2006 tour deluxe. I am wondering if anyone could tell me if 1996-2000 wheel will fit a 2006? thanks joe.
24. Well I need to get new tires for the venture before riding season really gets into full swing, anyhow as a former auto tech with lots of tools, I'm considering borrowing a bike jack and attempting to at least remove the wheels myself and taking them to the dealer to get changed and balanced or another option is to take the wheels to a friend of mine and have him change them, it would be cheaper but he doesn't have a balancer he just puts the weights back in the same location, which I'm not to keen on. My main concern is I'm not real confident on removing the wheels and doing this, I'm afraid of doing something wrong, and with only having two wheels under you it's quite intimidating. No problems with the cars, just not real familiar with the bike issue. I've done other maint. but not something of this magnatude. I was going to just take the bike to my friends place but he has had some problems in the past and I hate to admit it, but I'm not to confident in his mechanical abilities compared to myself. I guess what I'm trying to say is he doesn't pay to much attention to what he is doing. So any advise would be helpful. Other's that have done this job, how did it go? Thanks...
