1. Finally got some warm enough weather to ride up the canyon last week. Between the cold and rain it's been tough to get a long ride in. Here's a pic at 8735 ft

2010 Flames?

3. got my shirt today, great design on back, wish I could make it, do have to say I finshed final painting on trike and trailer today, it will stand out at americade, sure do you people have great weather for md day. later '
4. I have Friday off and was considering a LD ride. I went to my favorite weather site, The Weather Underground (Wunderground) and was preparing to check the major cities along the way. I just happened to see their new Road Trip Planner, and clicked the link. It is just what I was looking for. It shows me the weather along my route: sunny at both ends and possible t-showers in between. I'll keep an eye on the route, but meanwhile I can start planning something else. I love Wunderground. 5. My 85 is at last on the road and I will enjoy every moment. I would like to thank everyone who has ever added their input to this site. What a big help. The weather is fine and all summer lays ahead. Planned trips are to Sudbury Ontario and the White Mountains in NH. Ryan
6. Well, I got off work for a week. Finally! Kind of short notice so I had made no plans. Hard to get loose sometimes when you are the only one that does what you do. I got to get somebody trained! But I woke up yesterday morning at the usual time, 2:30 am, and couldn't get back to sleep. So I took a look at the weather and decided.......NORTH! Strapped the trunk bag on and threw in a few tools JIC and was out the door by 4:30. A bit cool at 39 degrees and cloudy all day but warmed up into the 60's later on. The old girl never gave me a lick of trouble and made the ride most enjoyable. Headed out of Omaha on back roads and stayed that way all day. Wandered through dozens of small towns and three states. Ended up in Yankton, S.D. The strange part was I only saw two other bikes in the entire trip. But then again I was on roads where I didn't even see a car for a half hour at a time. Perfect!! Got back to Omaha late last night and slept like a lamb. Surprised me! I only covered 570 miles. Woke up this morning (a little later than yesterday) and checked the weather again. Today......WEST!! A somewhat shorter trip, only 350 miles today but the weather was warmer and sunny all day. Tomorrow......I'm thinking.......South? I like Arkansas. Maybe spend the night by a lake on this one. Better pack some extra stuff. Lord I love this bike. Even more....I love the effect of the needle mod. Dang. Later Mike
7. Our local CMA chapter had a great day of riding and fellowship, and raised some money for a good cause. We had approximately 20 bikes and couldn't have any better weather for riding. Rode a familiar 150 mile loop that I've used during the Skid-In 2009.....
8. does anyone have any tips for keeping your hands warm at below 40 degree weather? The rest of my cold weather gear works pretty well, and I've got a pair for waterproof thinsulate gloves. But after about 10 minutes my hands are freezing.
9. hope all are doing well! been some bad weather this week, several killed in ms and many injured. twisters hit al tonight, don't know what all happened yet. it's that time of year right now, so be safe!
10. Sitting here at 'puter......and watching Quickstep ride out on my Quike He has headed out with a friend of ours for a ride down south. Me, it should be me!!:bawling:Dang the leg :bang head: Weather is starting to cool off, so by the time I can ride again I'll probably be dodging the rain.
11. The weather being so nice...and me having to go back to work today to be ready for work at 6AM in the morning. I decided to ride Black Betty to work. I do this occasionally but have to watch the weather closely since I have to stay at work for 7 days and return the 8th day. So this morning I am head to Youngsville LA (suburb of Lafayette LA) for a week of work. I usually when in the cage drive back Tuesday night and get home around midnight, but since I am riding Betty...I will spend one more night and come back the following day so I will not have to travel at night through some of the heaviest deer population in the South East. The weather for the return trip April 7th looks promising so far. So I am hoping it will be nice for the return trip. Got her all loaded up and pulling out in a few minutes. I plan on talking the long way to get in as much riding as I can. Get out of my way...here I come cages.

tour deluxe trunk mount

Nice weather in Wisconsin and I have put about 200 miles on my TD already. I have accumulated a few chrome parts ans have been having fun working in the garage getting ready for the "real" spring here. Which brings me to a dilema. I bought a detachable sissy bar and want to mount a trunk to it. I have seen Al's mount on the web page but I know I have seen other ones(mounts)also and can't find them now. Soooo.. if anyone has pictures or sells alternative mounts please post for all of us. Thanks alot and lets hope the nice weather continues. Reno
13. Wondering if any of the members here can shed some light on the following... Snoqualmie pass "normal" weather conditions during late September (around 19th) Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Flagstaff areas normal daily high / low temps during September.
14. As the frigid & cold weather starts to taper off here in the south, I find myself doing what a lot of others are doing... Watching the weather forecasts like our lives depend on it. Obviously, it's been great riding weather here in ENC for the past few days, cresting over 60 degrees... Today is supposed to be around 66 degrees... Outstanding. There WAS, however, a minor oversight on my part... Overnight lows. I'm all dressed for work, in my slacks & polo shirt, strapping on my leather jacket, and gloves, with a fleece underneath. I opt for the half-helmet with the removable ear muffs... I'm ready to roll. 34 degrees as I'm beginning my 40 mile journey to work... Stupid, stupid, stupid... Shoulda bought chaps when I was at Shamrock Biker Outfitters last time. 20 minutes in, legs go numb, face moves really slow when I try to poorly sing along with The Doobie Brothers (jammin' from my Shark Radio) but my torso is cozy... Khakis are the worst cold-weather gear known to man, next to shorts. I'd like to say "I don't know what I was thinking..." but I do. I was thinking, "It's gonna be 66 on the way home. This is worth it." It's really not. I should've just ridden when I got home from work. Since I don't have any lower deflectors to go with my Nat'l Cycle Switchblade windshield, the wind came right over the tank, and in my face. Clicked a few values into a wind chill calculator, and it was about 15 degrees. I've been at work for 2 hours, and I STILL don't have complete feeling in my legs, not to mention they are STILL cold. If anyone knows a nice alternative to spending $150 on lower deflectors from Nat'l Cycle, or fabricating a mount from my factory windshield/lower mounts, let me know. I'm gonna need 'em.
15. Yes , I do get shunked, I like to share some photos I took , Im usually on the Lake around 6 am These few days we have had some very warm weather A record breaking weather plus 10C (50F) where it should be in the minus at this time of Photo 1 & 2 .......Just because you have a 4X4 it doesn't mean that you can go everywhere even with a Plow Photo 3.............Early sunrise Photo 4 & 5 ...... The Ice is starting to crystal when this happens You better remove your ice hut soon the lake will be one big swimming pool Photos 6 &7 .....It was a very clear day and I wanted to see if I could capture the jet going over with my digital zoom
16. Well its time, I have shoulder surgery in the morning. Not looking forward to it, but it'd be nice to have full range of motion back. Hopefully I'll be back up and riding soon, figures, the weather here is looking good for the weekend and I'll be outta of it for a few weeks....errrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
17. Now I know what it feels like to live in the north, this weather in the midatlantic is driving me crazy. The bike hasn't been out of the garage since before Christmas. It took me 5 hours with the tractor to dig out the driveway on Sunday and now where getting more. The wind is going to get high and blow it around as well. Where starting to blame the darn Groundhog.
18. Well, it finally got started and their forecasts are coming to fruition. Lots of heavy, wet snow and really bad conditions. Makes me thankful to be retired and able to choose to not go out. Central Indiana is getting it's share of weather out of this huge system. I can hear sirens right now here in the Castleton area of northeast Indy. Looks like we have 3 to 4 inches, strong easterly wind, and a lot more snow to come. It's just plain nasty. Now all you southerners can take your best shots.
19. BOO

Finally!

I usually leave the first of Feb to go to Florida. I'm suppose to be retired BUT I took on this job a few months ago to remodel an old 4 flat into a duplex.. Figured what the heck, two or three months should be done. The job drug on and on AND finally was jeopardizing my time in Florida. Finally finished installing the counter tops this afternoon and I'm out of this cold and snowy weather first thing in the morning Wahoo, Wahoo.... Should be in southern Georgia by tomorrow night then on down to the Fort Myer area till the end of the month. No bike though, just the cage. Did I mention the shorts and flip flops? AND I don't want any of you northerners sending down any cold weather, just keep it till I get back. Had to clean three inches off the drive this evening but I was smiling. BOO
20. This whole thing is embarrassing to tell, but it is the truth. Yesterday, at the school where I work, the staff was worried to death about the possible snow storm that was headed our way. The prediction was the by 4 AM the snow would start and probably by noon on Thursday there would be 2 inches of snow. Then by the afternoon we would have a possible 3 to 5 inches of snow! The teachers were constantly asking about the weather reports. The problem with this is the community where our schools are located, the people get frantic about SNOW. Which we jokingly call the WHITE DEATH! I am off school today because of the snow. The issue is, if we had had school the parents would have been angry because we had put their children in danger. The timing of the storm was the problem too, it was supposed to get gradually worse as the day went on. So at the time of dismissal at 4PM the road conditions could have been very bad. So not knowing how this was going to turn out, the administrators canceled school. Of course, it was not just our school district, all across the surrounding Cincinnati communities schools were closed because of the weather. I also suppose the below freezing temps, had something to do with this decision. I guess my questions are there other towns who get so crazy about the snow. I do of course, blame the weather people. They seem to promote this sort of behavior. Yama Mama:snow2::snow:
21. I sold my Vstar 1100 custom and went looking for something a little more comfy. I saw an add for a 1984 Venture and thought it was cheap enough to resale and add more bucks to my new bike fund. It was the day after Christmas when I picked it up. I had to drive it home about sixty miles in thirty degree weather with a few sprinkles. She was a beauty and i was impressed. as i entered the on ramp to I-24, I got a surprise as the front wheel began to lift gently skyward. By the time I got home I decided this WAS my new bike. I'm hooked and I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. The temp got above freezing for the first time in weeks today. I think I can get enough ice off the door to get in the shop where she sets. It don't need much but this weather has got to give so I can get in there to her!!! Hang on BLUE!
22. thanks for for all the video clips. It's 5 degs outside with 4 inches of snow. Thanks for all the nice weather rides. Cb
23. Since the better half was already gone with my truck to Utah, I spent my 50th birthday on the bike. I took off just heading nowhere on I-35 North toward Austin. I got up to Round Rock and took a left on a little windy Farm road. Ended up FM 962. It has to be one of the funnest rides that I have been on in a while. I could have called Lonestar Medic or Tom, but wanted to just get away. Beautiful weather and it just started getting cold when the sun went down. I called my wife in Utah and she cussed me out for bragging about the weather. SORRY Thats not me in the picture
24. Annie how ya doing. Gregg
25. Did my fist ride with the warming gear I purchased from Cozy Winters. The set I picked up consists of a jacket and pants liner, gloves and socks. I also bought the dual troller and the cigarette plug adapter. The bike I hooked all this stuff up to is an 86 VR. Great stuff. Rode in 49 degree weather and started to sweat. Turned it way, way down. Can't wait to see if it keeps me warm when the temp is in the lower 30s. Great investment.
