  1. just got off the phone with dave at f4 windshields....and wanted to say how nice they are there and what they're doing for me.....i have a clearview windshield with the vent.......i need the tallest windshield out there and f4's is 1 inch taller than the tallest clearview....i already have a vent so they are shipping me the shield with the vent hole cut out, and a new faceplate, around.....plus 10% off......nice to work with ...the clearview people are good too....
  2. Does anyone have a louver from a broken Heater Vent Grill they could spare?
  3. What vent tube exits just in front of the left air cleaner? Just wondering...thanks...JR
  4. I have seen a couple of VR that have snazzy chrome/steel/shiney block-off plates. Are these still available commercially or do I need to find someone to make these for me? Thanks
  5. Q1-Does the Lower Front Vent on an 83 VR fit on an 89 VR? Q2-Are the actual vents interchangable?
  6. I am going to buy a windshield from clearview and was wondering if the sealant around the vent they put in for you yellows after a while. Thanks for the response.
  7. Has anyone used the "blue flame" vent free wall mount heaters? Just insulated the garage, and have the drywall up (thanks IH Truck Guy), and just need to mud it yet. Wasn't quite ready to worry about which heater yet, but my two choices are both on sale right now, and I need to decide today. I have Natural Gas available to heat a 24x26x9.5 foot garage. I'm leaning for the vent free 30,000 btu over the ceiling mount vent outside 45,000 btu unit. It's less than 1/2 the $ and I don't need to cut a hole in the wall and spend another $100 to vent it. I'm looking at the ProCom vent free thermostat with fan added. Mr heater has had a similar unit in the past as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Later, Scooter Bob
  8. Before I trashed my Cleirview shield (since it snapped off) I pulled the vent out of it. I bought the shield from a fellow member here who bought the shield from clierview with the vent installed. The vent works fine (the ball bearing could use a cleaning and lubrication I'm sure) but all the pieces are there. I was going to hang onto this vent and install it in another shield but I think I'm going to give the round pop-vents a try and figure I can pass this along to another member that wants it. I'm asking $30 (USD) And that is shipped to you (in the US). If anyone in the Vancouver BC area wants it, I can deliver it to you for no charge sometime between 6-21/Oct/10. I have attached some pictures. I can take PayPal, Personal check or cash (if we meet in person).
  9. Hey Guys I have a 83 VR and on the way back from Dons this yr my left dash vent blew out at about 75. It is still on the highway in about a hundred peices. Woundering if anyone has one they dont need? It would be the left one as you sit on the bike by the speaker. Thanks Bull463
  10. I have a 2006 RSV that has set for a while. When I turn on the key the fuel pump runs and pumps fuel out of some type of vent line behind the left cowling. It is not the tank vent as I have pulled that hose and checked. Anyone have any idea what it might be and how to cure the problem? Thanks. Frank :icon_smile_question
  11. I am considering installing a windshield vent and was wondering about the Pros and Cons.:yikes: Is there an article on just how to install the vents and are there different types? Your help and knowledge is appreciated! Bubber
  12. I have 2008 rsv the carbetator air vent hose on the drivers side has some fluid dripping out from it. is this something that should be covered under warrenty?
  13. Was talking to brother-in-law yesterday (also a biker) about Clearview with vent and he was telling me a lot of his buddies who have them say they don't like the vent because they get road dirt 'n bugs commin thru them, they're a real PITA to clean, and when it's hot out, all yer gettin is more hot air. What say ye all those who have these?
  14. I know it's been discused before but I want to make sure I don't have a proble. I get fuel leaking out of the vent hose under the seat low to the ground not the carb vents up forward, I am under the understanding that it is the tank vent. My question is could this be vapor escaping and then condensing that is dripping under my bike? I think it's a little excessive although the direct sun and heat here in SE GA are intense I am not seeing the same stains on the ground under other makes?
  15. have a 2008 rsv with 4500 miles I was removeing the lower left cowling and found some corosion or melting on the back side where the what i belive to be the carborater air vent hose is. some thing ran down the cowling and corodid it. it even melted of the two little tabs on the back any ideas what this was
  16. have a 1300 v star fuel injection model. gas drips from vent tube when parked. any ideas
  17. Do you know what is that hose next to the battery? My best guess it may be a vent hose for the battery. (See pic)
  18. So I'm thinking about replacing the windshield on my '01 and wondering if the F4 is an upgrade over the Clearview? Clearview has a 10% discount for the month of March, so I'd like to decide one way or the other before the sale ends at the end of the month. I was pretty much decided to get a Clearview, but want to be sure before I pull the trigger. F4 advertises that the polycarbonate (Lexan) is 30 time more impact resistant than acrylic and their hard coatings resist scratches and shed rain better with no treating needed. They also say you can safely use paper towels, Windex, and Rain-X if you want to. I'm wondering if the F4 would stay really clear longer than the Clearview? I would be really careful cleaning either one, but how will the Clearview look after many miles and years or road grime? Other considerations are the tint and vent. I'm thinking the tinted Clearview would be nice, but clear would be fine too. The Goldwing vent might be nice to get some air, but I've not minded the stock with no vents. Maybe just because I've never had a vent? Should the difference in warranty make any difference to me? Six months for the Clearview and four years for the F4, but they probably both exclude all but manufacturing defects, so it may not matter? Price is nice, but I'm always willing to pay a premium for a premium product... So has anyone had both that can compare them? I think Don may have had both? I'd really appreciate any comments about the tint or vent in addition to the basic product differences. Thanks! James
  19. Well, I got my new windshield last week from F4 with the goldwing vent. Since then I've ridden when it was around 50 degrees and over 80 degrees, {a day apart so I didn't have to wait}. I was happy with the protection the 4 inch wider shield provided and it seemed I could hear the stereo better at highway speeds. When you open the vent you get a good rush of air at chest level. You can adjust the opening to whatever you like. I had them mount the vent 3 1/4 inch above the slot in the bottom of shield {you have to have the chrome strip off to see this} and it ended up being about 1/2 inch above the dash so you could probably lower it more if you wanted. This was on a standard OEM height shield. Nice not to see a fog when the sun shines.
  20. For the first time in her life Ramona was late for work.Good reason to a last minute schedule change she didn't know about. It's time to pull her out for a better life. Here is to a M-F job somewhere waiting for her that permits weekends off.We need family time and riding time.Last year the scoot wasn't out of the barn not once. That ^#!@ Stops today.Sorry guys just had to vent. Wish us luck.I chewed on her managers arse today and boy did that feel good.I was about ready to hit second gear when she hung up on me.
  21. I know its been brought up before, but I couldn't find anything worth pursuing on the search function here. I'm looking to find a suitable (stock) factory replacement for the right knee vent (the one located on the side cover) or two "fabricated" vents. If I can't find a stock one, then I'll try the "custom" method. I had seen someone had once made chrome blanking plates and they seemed to work well. I was wondering if anyone had made the blanking plates and then had a metal shop stamp louvers into the metal? It would look similar to the ones for this aircraft. http://www.vincesrocket.com/silver%20louvers.jpg
  22. I have a clearview windshield with a vent. The vent has lost steel ball that adjusts the vent open and close, the spring is still there. Has anyone replaced the steel ball? Need to know size and where to get one. Thanks
  23. I was wondering if somebody had one and do you like it? Also, does the vent cut down passenger buffeting and does rain come through when it's closed?
  24. Was installing new diaphragms/sliders tonight. When I pulled #2, there was so much oil inside the cover that it even dripped out when I removed the final allen head. That was the only one like that. What in the world could cause excessive oil build up in the diaphragm. There is a minimal amount of oil that had accumulated in the airbox being brought up through the crankcase vent but nothing alarming. Even if oil we to accumulate in excess in the airbox, I doubt it could find its way to the diaphragm. It was running fairly well before and since I have had four new sliders/diaphragms I figured I go ahead and get them installed. Any ideas about the oil? Thanks all!
  25. I was out riding today and it was warm. My lower vents are worn and always flop over closed so my legs were toasting. I had to stop at Wally World and pick up a few things and I ended up in the automotive section. I don't know why but I was looking at air freshers and saw these lil slip on jobs that go down inside the vent and have a clip on the side that snaps over the air conditioning vent louver. Wait a minute.....air conditioning vent.......lower air vent.....Hummm? They are the right size to slip in and stay in place. They come in a pack of 4 of a $1.28. It worked like a charm, held the vents wide open and got the breeze back on my knees. Not to mention I still smelled pretty good myself after 200 miles. Not such a selection of manly scents like "Burning Rubber" or "High Octane" but I can get by with vanilla on a hot day. Hey....the ladies like ice cream......right? Who says an air fresher is pointless on a bike? Snaggletooth
