  1. My Wife and I are taking another cruise in January and we are taking our 20 year old daughter and her best friend with us this time. Anyway we got to talking and was wondering if people on here would be interested in a "Venturerider.org" cruise? For those that haven't been on a cruise you will either love them or hate them. This will be our 5th cruise in the last 10 years so needless to say we enjoy them. A cruise is really cheap considering what you get. I can put a cruise together leaving from either New Orleans, Tampa, or Cape Canaveral going to a couple of different places for about $675 per couple. This does not include transportation to the port the ship leaves from. These are 5 days cruises and would go to Grand Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Mexico, Progresso, Mexico or a combination of them. Anyway just thought I'd throw this out in case people would want to try and do something. I would do all the leg work and get us the best deals and set everything up. Leave your thoughts and we can move forward from here. Rick
  2. Does someone have some procedure instructions on how to install Roto Covers on a MKII before I just go taking to many things off?
  3. If you have children or grandchildren you NEED to watch this. I had no idea this could happen from taking pictures on the blackberry or other smartphone. It's scary. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2vARzvWxwY]Smartphone pictures pose privacy risks - YouTube[/ame]
  4. I've been at the company resort near Hayward, WI all week at our semi-annual sales meeting. It is finally coming to an end. Tonight I fly home and then I'm taking off next week for a much needed vacation. This has to have been one of the longest weeks in history.
  5. We are taking off tomorrow for a 9 day getaway, having new avons put on this am. 18K out of the last set, not too bad. We are spending the 1st nite in Natural Bridge Va, next nite in Black Mtn. then 2 nites at Mt Pisgah. Then a nite at the Biltmore Inn, next nite in Blowing Rock, then wind our way back up the Parkway. Looks like the weather is gonna be pretty good, any recommendations on neat things to see along the way is appreciated. If ya see a shiney 06 out there stop me I will buy the coffee. Craig
  6. well i searched for old threads and found one simiular to my problem from jimspa from 07/06/2008. my radio/cb will turn on but than i have no control over turning it off, changing chanels nothing but volume control.i have noticed that the led read out semms to fade away and than comes back, sometimes if i turn the bike/switch off and back on it sometimes comes right back and other times nothing.if it sets just a little bit it comes back on and works fine.help. and no i have not taking the faring off etc.
  7. Hi, I am taking a compression test, and have removed a plastic shroud, that sits above the front cylinders. Its about a foot long, and has a large diameter hose running thru it allowed by a slit in it. The shroud sits on top of the valve cover bolts, this is an 83 model. Is this shroud necessary to replace or what. It sure complicates taking the left front plug out. I realize that maybe its there to help direct air thru the radiator or whatever, if you can let me know what its purpose is, and if it can be left out, it would be appreciated. My bike has the fairing lowers and side covers left off the bike if that matters.
  8. Joyce & I were heading for one of our local restaurants tonight and got rear ended by a young girl either going to fast and not paying attention or being distracted in some way. The only good thing was we were in our car instead of on the bike tonight. Joyce had twisted her ankle earlier in the day so was limping thus we took the car. We had stopped for a traffic light and as it turned green I started to go and that was when she rammed her car into the back of my Kia Sorento. Even then it broke loose my spare tire from under the car and hit with enough force to flatten the bumper & bend my Curt hitch. It did a number on her car taking the entire front out. It could have been worse I think if I hadn't been moving. Joyce did go to emergency to have her neck checked as she got a bit of whiplash. Docs are saying bruised muscles. I think she'll be sore in the morning. One can't ever be vigilant enought it seems. Larry
  9. One of the front fork airlines has a massive leak in it. Not sure if it is 68 or 69 but in any case they should both be replaced. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=15285&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=1990&fveh=385 Looks like custom ones will have to be made. Has anyone done this? It would be nice if I could get them made up before taking half the bike apart and having to bus it in the interim.
  10. I've been thinking about taking this course threw ABATE has anybody taken it? I'm sure its worth it just looking for other peoples experiences or if by chance if anybody else from wisconsin is taking the one at Fort McCoy either 7-9 or 7-16 Jeff
  11. I'm in the process of doing a fork seal replacement and was wondering...is it best to pull the anti-dive leads out at the "dash" and route them back in afterwards or can I remove the unit on the fork tubes and re-install it? This is a "quickie" replacement and I won't be taking the tubes apart. I'll just be sliding the old seals out along the tubes and the new ones back in the same way after pulling the fork tubes out of the "tress".
  12. to daytona , from harrisburg, Pa......is there a faster way than taking the I-95 ?.....i know that interstate can be crowded.......
  13. With all of the snow here in GA and only 8 snow plows for the entire state, and me climbing the walls I decided to start tinkering with my bike. There have been a lot of threads out there about what to do with the tape deck so after reading many of them and taking a little from what everyone else has done, this is what I came up with. It came out pretty nice. Big enough to put cell phones, ipods, extra cords or whatever. Finally, a reason to open that door
  14. I know most guys don't bother to read the tags attached to the clothing they buy. But it's time to start taking a closer look when you see one like this. At least it's PC and honest.
  15. I hope you enjoy the fresh deer meat I layed on your front lawn at 7:00 am this morning. It's a nice big one well tenderized to. Please remove the pieces of my front bumper, turn signal, headlight, grille, and fender from it's A## before consumption. 2004 Chevy Silverado parts don't taste very good. I feel like taking out about 20 more. If I'm gonna turn in a insurance claim might as well do a good job. Here's to Road Hunting in the Chevy truck.

    Practice

Went downtown and watched the Police practice for their competition tomorrow at Bikes on the Bricks. Only got one fall (to slow with the camera phone) but every time one fell the others would turn on their sirens so everyone would know. Some of these guys can ride. And that's Straycatt (Glen) taking a picture of me taking a picture of him.
  19. Warden says "Get in car and drive South!!" Leaving Fri night may stop when wheels get wet? Or anywhere in between. Great plans for this one. Go find Beach?? Budget a lot tighter for Vacation on Retirement check. I told her we could take tent. She didn't seem to like that idea?? Taking sister-in-law along. She backs the Warden up. Going to be a long trip.... I may need Meds!!!
  20. Will be leaving Seymour about 7:00 am for 5 or 6 days out. Then we will have to turn around and come home. Friends of mine are going to ride all the way to the coast and back on 66. They plan on taking 5 weeks. Hoping to make it to Pueblo,Co. before we have to turn around. We will be taking I 70 home. Will be taking the laptop with us and would like to maybe meet some of you guys & gals on the way back home. As will be riding back by ourselves.
  21. I'm looking for ideas how to hold down a cooler on my Piggy Trailer. I had a cover made for it and it will have a zipper around the top so I can have access. I don't want to put straps on the outside of the cover or a net.....but that maybe the most logical idea? Will I be taking it off and on the rack....prob not. So people what ideas have ya got ????? Thanks Keith
  22. Annie we carried you home with us to take you on a bit of a tour. I'll send all the pics I have once I finish taking pics. Muffinman is taking you to Afghanistan oh and Quickstep I think headed to Canada. That is as long as Charlie took him, otherwise he may be kicking back at Don's still. So you are taking separate vacations if you consider Afghanistan a vacation. But you will be well traveled. Thought it might be a bit more fun to continue your trip. Margaret
  23. I am going to Rock Springs this weekend and all are invited to ride if your free. I will be leaving Athens about 7 am traveling Hwy 31 to Waco. I will be in Corsicana about 740 and Waco about 900. I will be meeting my brother Rick "Goose" at the Cracker Barrel on IH 35 and the north loop. KSU at 1000 for the ride to Rock Springs. We will be doing back roads and taking our time and enjoying the wind in our face. Saturday we will ride the Three Sisters and anywhere else we want to go and Sunday we will head back home. If you want to go make sure and let me know so we don't leave anyone. I can also give you Hotel info if you need it. Right now I think we have four bikes ready to go but all are welcome. I am taking cards and dominoes. This is not a guys only trip. I know at least two couples will be riding two up. The New Mexico and Colorado Trip for July is still on and more details will be sent out soon. This will be the first road trip for the new Motor.
