  1. Not bike related ! Im in the middle of a 2nd floor bathroom remodel. The walls are demo'd back to the studs. The floor down to the plywood sub floor. I didnt expect to have to replace the plywood sub-floor but it's rotted enough that the whole floor need to be replaced. I have a very good understanding of floor and wall construction but Im looking for advice from better educated people on the subject. The sub floor obviously extends under the walls. Do I cut the plywood flush against the walls or do I come into the room a bit? I imagine if I come into the room a bit, I'll need to support the edges of the old and new plywood with new framing between each joist and somehow along the side where the joist run parallel to the walls. If I cut the plywood flush against the stud walls, I dont see how I'd support the edges. Any experts have advice? Id appreciate it . Thx Andrew
  2. Dr.'s let her out today (Friday), still find it hard to believe home and walking 2 days after a total hip replacement........... Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support, now comes the hard part, recovery and getting back to a normal life.......... Thanks to all the VR family....... ........
  3. Lots of members have used, out of warranty Garmins, called their support and gotten free replacements. I took a chance based on this w/ a Streetpilot 2730 on e-bay in that the remote works (if you hold it less than an inch from it), but the touchscreen doesn't. I called their tech support and tried a couple things. Nothing worked. All they said was because it is a discontinued model and out of warranty I would have to pay $170 up front. I can ship it to them and if they can't fix it then they can choose to send me a refurb. Not what I was hoping to hear.
  4. I wanted to let everyone know that Toni Knox called me about an hour and a half ago with news of Paul's surgery. He had just finished, after about 6 hours, and the doctors say that everything went well! Please post your prayers and well-wishes here in support of a full and speedy recovery. I know they will both appreciate it... Please also check out this thread and show your support if you can: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45243 Thank You! TERRY
  5. Charlene has been discharged from the hospital and we arrived home at 6:30 pm. The hold up was for her new aids that she needs during recovery, a walker, and a toilet seat riser with armrests, well they found one cleaned it up real good and sent her on her way, they really didnt need to keep her any longer as she was doing such a great job of following directions from the therapist. I have plenty of work to do around here in the next few days to get her all set up safely, 1st I need to install some handrails in her shower for support, move some furniture around so she will have a proper chair for sitting in the living room. She is doing well, and I expect her recovery will go smoothly and quickly. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and well wishes as I know that had a lot to do with it. She will be signing on one day this week to post for herself but for now, from the bottom of our hearts our most greatful thanks for everyone's support.

  7. I realize this is subject to varied points of view, but perhaps there will be a consensus on a few states which are favorites for motorcycling in. Please explain WHY you think the states you chose are the best and include any EVIDENCE or PHOTO's to support your valued opinions! Thanks! I'm lookng for a few new places to travel this springtime! 8. I received an email tonight that I thought I would pass along the heart of it. This website is to Say Thanks and show Support of our Troops. From the website..."The cooperation and generosity of multiple organizations has made it possible to send the millions of postcard messages submitted through this Web site. Xerox has partnered with Give2TheTroops, the Boys and Girls Clubs, print shops and corporations that have all greatly contributed to the success of Let’s Say Thanks." The site is http://www.letssaythanks.com I have never served in the military but I do support our troops. Our soldiers past and present are the reason that we enjoy the freedoms that so many take for granted. I sent my card. Hope some of you will too. Cheers, smalltowntx
  9. So I brought my RSV to the dealer for the broken windshield support (08 plenty of warranty left)... and they replace my inner and outer fairing under warranty... did a fine job. But I noticed that from lack of support and the windshield moving around, it had scratched the bottom edge of the windshield... and the chrome strip at the bottom of the windshield doesn't fit right. Sooo... I brought it back on a Saturday (45 minutes each way) and was told the warranty guy's not in today.. can you bring it back monday???? I politely explaind that would require me to take time off of work, and wasn't going to do that. so the tech left a note for the warranty guy. I just got off the phone w/him and he says " well the tech said there was a problem with the left side ( wich is crap, since the support was broken on both sides) and he has to wait to hear from YAMAHA to see if it will be covered, cause "that was a big claim.. over 1600 dollars"... is this how the program works??? I work at a Ford dealer, and WE determine if it'll be covered or not(to a point). Does this seem reasonable?? or should I start searching out another dealer to use.... Also , is there a phone number to get ahold of Yamaha if you're not satisfied with the service you recieve???
  10. For putting your life on hold and coming to my aid yesterday. That and being moral support and hauling me to fulfill the purpose for my visit to Denver.
  11. As I am proud to support the men and women in uniform, both here in Australia, and our allies in the U.S.A. I am now a proud member of the PGR I try to support both the Vietnam Veterans MC and the Patriots MC here in Western Australia -- so wished to support our brothers and sisters in the U.S. forces.:clap2:GOD BLESS 'EM ALL.
  12. I need a tech support contact phone number for Mikuni. Any help would be appreciated. Bill
  13. We made it home from Vogel about 3:00, got everything unloaded but not sorted out, that will come. I just want to thank everyone who came out to support our St. Jude effort, dont have a final figure yet I will be tallying that soon and posting it. I also want to thank all those that pitched in and helped with the rides, picking up downed bikes( only 1), carb syncs, everything mechanical, giving rides to little old ladies, not once but twice, food servers, those that donated door prizes, just a great bunch of people., But most of all I need to apologize to someone very special to me, I forgot to thank the most important person in my life, and that is my wife Charlene, while at the shelter I thanked a lot of people openly and forgot my loving wife, so, Thank you for all your support Charlene, I couldn't have done it without your support, I love you and thank you for putting up with me................
  14. Robbie and I wish to thank everyone for there support. We had to lay the bike down to avoid hitting another bike. Robbie a couple of minor fractures and is very sore. has for myself I'm reall sore this morning. Thank God we both had our helments on. We are not leaving the ralley we will be to the end. Please understand my fingers are not working to well this morning. Again thanks to all.
  15. As you may, or may not, know Harley has suggested they may close their final assembly plant in York, PA. Closing that plant will devastate the local economy and add to our 8.5 percent unemployment. If you're in the neighborhood this weekend, there is a rally to support the plant. I don't know if it would have any influence on the folks in Milwaukee, but it could, at minimum be a fun day. For info go to: http://www.fox43.com/news/features/saveourplant/
  16. I just bought a TOM TOM RIDER 2nd EDITION. I bought the TOM TOM because I have one in my car and love it compared to my buddys GARMIN I found it more accurate, easier to use and easier to update. As well their tech support has been great. Everything works great on it except on a SUNNY DAY I cannot see the screen. Is this common for all Motorcycle GPS's ??? or is it just a TOM TOM Issue.
  17. 18. Saw this on a dune buggy that was powered by a bike engine. Minor machining to adapt flywheel to back side of pinion yoke. Make starter support good and solid. Looks like it would work on anything with a driveshaft providing you have a mounting point for starter.
  19. My dear MC family God has shown his face on me and brought the most wonderful man into my life (even if he does ride a Goldwing...it pained me to tell you that...). I met him last Nov. Bill Jarrett of Sebastopol, California. He is kind, gentle, funny, sweet and very strong. Very much, a manly man. We planning to sign the dotted line and whisper sweet " I Do's" on June 28th in our backyard here in Galt. The boys really like him, especially Randy, my youngest. He treats my kids with respect and is sentsitive to what the loss they have been through. Thanks for all your prayers, support and sweet words of kindness to me. What say you about a honeymoon? Estes Park, Colorado or Alaskan cruise?
  20. As you are all contemplating the purchase of a zumo 550, please keep in mind that the bluetooth portion is for the cell phone connection. It does NOT give STEREO output for the MP3 player. The only way to get stereo is out of the hardwire plug. Now, the new Zumo 660 will support stereo sound over bluetooth. However, the 660 does not have XM capability. Also, I don't believe the 550 will support 2 connections over bluetooth at the same time. So, riding 2 up would force 1 person to be in silence unless the helmet of 1 would rebroadcast to another. JB
  21. Somebody tell me all the negative reasons why I should not dump my dsl and go satellite for my ISP. My only source of internet is Frontier dsl my phone provider. No other source exist other then satellite and dial up which I am on now.I have had nothing but problems with my dsl connections for 2 years and tech support is no help. When it runs good it downloads at 1200kb but slows down to a crawl 37kb yesterday. This happens at some point almost daily. Now I have a new problem it's totally dead, gone, out of service for the third weekend in a row.I had a long conversation with customer service and tech support yesterday morning. they offered a one time only $40 credit a months service fee but had no explanation for the failures.Every week when I call tech support I ask the same question. Is anybody else in the state of WV having a problem and the answer is NO nothing reported but my neighbors are complaining to.The phone company has retired all the people that knowed what they were doing and layed off the rest. Also no field service available on weekends M-F only. Just had to vent I'm on Ramona's labtop on dialup. My contract for dsl will be up in April for renewal.

  23. Last weekend Craig ("Clearview Shields") and I mounted one of his new "Shields" on my 2007 RSV. We have developed an axhillary bracket to help support the windshield on the outer edges closest to the handle bar grips. I have stated in other posts that this seems to be an area that needed some support over the factory design. This should give added support especially for the taller & wider "shields". The brackets should work with any style & brand of shields. They connect to the outside bolt of each speaker and attach to the outside metal factory backer bracket and windshield. I will post Photos if anyone is interested. Craig at "Clearview" can answer any questions about the new shield design and the bracket design. I believe he will make the brackets available for a modest fee if the is enough interest. More later, Thanks DNB
  24. Geez, I tried every trick in the book to get this unit to boot up but it's dead. Check out how many folks have had the same trouble as me! 44 pages of the same thing! http://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?topic=339.0 There is a definite problem with these units. Good news is that Garmin support has been very good with me and it looks like they will make it right. Hopefully, I will be able to find danob11 and Bummer tomorrow since I'm "blind"!
  25. I ran across this organization today on the net......and then funny thing when we went to counceling today and she asked if we had a support system here....i said no family here and very few friends since we havent lived here long......BUT i said and proceeded to tell her about this group which she was impressed by you all( and come to find out she used to ride) and very glad we had some special people. well she happened to mention BACA then and i told her i had been reading about them.....she thought they may be a good group to get ahold of for some support. http://bacausa.com/
