  1. Well when you got PMS here in the snow country, things make sense, that wouldn't normally! Bryan
  2. Who got dumped with lot of snow..Your alternate winter transportation

    SNOW

Would you believe it, snow!! For the first time in fourteen years it's snowing. It's the big light fulffy kind. The kids are having a ball. I know you people up north could care less, but it is a big deal around here in Mobile,Al. Saw a big 10 point buck run through my yeard a few hours ago. Guess he didn't know what snow was. tew47
  4. Believe it or not, we have more snow in the forecast for tonite and tomorrow. not as much as we got on Sat. but still, 3rd snow storm within a months time, someone explain how global warming is affecting this...................
  5. It is winter and I'm still hearing a whining noise! Oh, that's these people in Iowa who are whining about all the snow we have this year!
  6. So you glad yet that you didn't bring just your bike with you! How is the Alabama guy dealing with all this snow! I for one can't stand it!
  7. Well, it finally got started and their forecasts are coming to fruition. Lots of heavy, wet snow and really bad conditions. Makes me thankful to be retired and able to choose to not go out. Central Indiana is getting it's share of weather out of this huge system. I can hear sirens right now here in the Castleton area of northeast Indy. Looks like we have 3 to 4 inches, strong easterly wind, and a lot more snow to come. It's just plain nasty. Now all you southerners can take your best shots.
  8. At least the Northern section. I took this from another forum. Looks legit to me. Could be an interesting weekend if they are correct. You are receiving this message because my forecast team feels it is imperative for you to be aware that another round of high impact winter weather is slated to occur from Friday into Sunday across the I-95 corridor. This event is likely to equal or exceed that of the December 19, 2009 storm and may resemble the March 18-22, 1958 storm in terms of duration and snowfall. In that event, areas of Baltimore County received 4 feet of snow. What you will read below will not be released publicly until Tuesday or perhaps Wednesday, and may contain some changes, but we are confident of our investigation thus far. Our pre-public statement: The Foot's Forecast team in Baltimore, MD expects an historic snow event to occur during the weekend of February 5-6-7. Snow is likely to begin Friday and extend into Sunday. Amounts across the eastern Mid-Atlantic may approach 24" by Saturday evening. Areas of elevation will see enhanced snowfall that may approach or exceed 30". Several computer models already project nearly 2.0 inches of liquid equivalent for this storm, which at a basic 12:1 snow to water ratio would easily produce 2 feet or more. This would shut down most roads and interstates and result in states of emergency from Virginia northward to Massachusetts for several days. Meteorologists at the federal level http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/pmdepd.html> have been releasing statements on this potential since Sunday afternoon, the text of which can be found at HPC, NOAA's Hydrometeorological Prediction Center. Our information does not constitute an official statement nor do we claim to represent the National Weather Service. However, the NOAA agencies which serve the NWS have already made clear their belief this will be a high impact event for the I-95 corridor http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/threats/threats.gif>. We believe that educators, administrators and county officials need to be closely monitoring this potential as it will have a high impact on the school system for a long period of time following the storm. 9. It's beautiful since we don't get much snow around the Raleigh, NC area but it sure cuts into riding. It's been cold around here but I've been on a number of Patriot Guary missions; you can't go in this stuff. I guess you guys up north laugh at us down here but what can I say. Spring is just around the corner. Hope everyone is safe and warm; I don't send many threads but I don't have a lot to do right now. I did get my stebel air horn in but am waiting on the bracket to install. Can't wait to blow out the windows in the garage.
  10. I thought this crap didn't happen in Texas. Of course everything's BIGGER in Texas so we can't just get snow that you can drive on, it had to rain all night first and then sleet for 4 hours so there's a 1/2 inch of solid ice on everything!! We're supposed to end up with 12-18" of snow.
  11. but it's something to talk about instead of shoveling snow..... http://www.wimp.com/ecomobiletests/
  12. The gravel roads out to the pavement are almost melted clear, just another couple of sunny days:sun1:and I'll be able to get the bike out to the pavement for a ride... But look what's coming: ... Winter storm possible Friday through Sunday... A strong winter storm will affect much of the northern plains Friday through Sunday. This system will bring freezing fog and freezing rain to the region on Friday... and the potential for 6 or more inches of snow Saturday through Sunday. In addition to the snow... strong northwest winds may cause considerable blowing snow which could reduce visibilities. Uncertainty exists regarding the exact track of this storm and snowfall amounts... but it is likely that some parts of northeastern Wyoming and western South Dakota will be impacted. Monitor NOAA Weather Radio... internet... or your local media
  13. Took it out today, some streets still snow covered. Good to get out for 30 minutes, although some of those minutes were a little tense. http://media.kansascity.com/smedia/2009/12/25/10/ChristmasSnow083_ME_12-25-09_JFS.standalone.prod_affiliate.81.jpg
  14. I know you folks up north and upper mid west are gonna think I'm a big weeny but It has been COLD here in Florida. I haven't been able to ride the last two weeks because the lows have been in the 30's and the highs have been in the 50's and raining. We had snow flurries Saturday and it was ugly. Today was 28 in Tampa. You have to understand that if we go more than one day without seeing the sun we start feeling really sorry for ourselves. OK, I'm through whining.
  15. This whole thing is embarrassing to tell, but it is the truth. Yesterday, at the school where I work, the staff was worried to death about the possible snow storm that was headed our way. The prediction was the by 4 AM the snow would start and probably by noon on Thursday there would be 2 inches of snow. Then by the afternoon we would have a possible 3 to 5 inches of snow! The teachers were constantly asking about the weather reports. The problem with this is the community where our schools are located, the people get frantic about SNOW. Which we jokingly call the WHITE DEATH! I am off school today because of the snow. The issue is, if we had had school the parents would have been angry because we had put their children in danger. The timing of the storm was the problem too, it was supposed to get gradually worse as the day went on. So at the time of dismissal at 4PM the road conditions could have been very bad. So not knowing how this was going to turn out, the administrators canceled school. Of course, it was not just our school district, all across the surrounding Cincinnati communities schools were closed because of the weather. I also suppose the below freezing temps, had something to do with this decision. I guess my questions are there other towns who get so crazy about the snow. I do of course, blame the weather people. They seem to promote this sort of behavior. Yama Mama:snow2::snow:
  16. Let's hear your best "It's so cold out"..... It's so cold out only guys with names like Al or Ed have time to write their name in the snow...... ought to be good to see some of these answers
  17. I doubt it, this is the most snow i've seen in my life, and i've seen alot of snow! Its freezing out, and of course my car dies at an intersection and wont start. Maybe thats why they say tempos aren't made for busting drifts! Either way, it was too cold to walk, so i just stayed put trying to figure out the problem, but lo' and behold my hood release latch froze to the inside of my car, so i pulled about a foot's worth of plastic out of place. Good thing its an 85' that i only paid 350 for!!!! PS does anyone have any extra first gen pipes they would like to sell for really cheap? THANKS!!!

    ATV 4x4

I'm sure some of you have a ATV and more knowledge than I do. I have always wanted to small tractor with a bucket however I just can't justify it. So after this last snow storm we saw a ATV with a plow on it on a trailer. Just wondering how they do pushing snow? With all the models does anyone have any neat web sites that explain which models are 4x4 and which modles are sport ATV's? When I do searches some are just 2 wheel drive or they are a sport ATV when I'm looking for an utility ATV and 4 wheel drive. Any info is appreciated? Also, anyone have a Wildfire brand? Thanks. Spotsy
  19. Besides it being the middle of winter here in S. Dakota, mother nature decided to let us have it again today. 5 to 8 inches of really fluffy snow today, and winds are going to blow about 35 mph. Looks like i'm not doing anything at all AGAIN. So besides all the blowing snow and the -25 below windchill we'll have tonight everybody will be safe at home and staying there for a day or two. I havent ridden in so long that i'm starting to get a bit bummed. So now that i've vented you may return to your normal programming.......
  20. thanks for for all the video clips. It's 5 degs outside with 4 inches of snow. Thanks for all the nice weather rides. Cb
  21. ... and would like to attend the International Motorcycle Show in Greenville SC next Saturday, read this thread: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43959]Jan 9th, 2010 - North GA/SC M&E - Let's Go To The Show! - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Sure, it's the dead of winter, but at least we won't likely have to battle the snow. Come by bike, come by cage, come by rocket ship; it doesn't matter how you get there. Just remember, it won't be the same without you! TERRY
  22. Woke up to 4 inches of snow and still coming down. Below 0 temps predicted at night. You guys up north stop sending us this cold. I am getting PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrone).
  23. Got to ride to work today. 1/2 block visibility due to fog, but it was 45 degrees and the roads were empty-ish. That's a great way to end the year. Sorry to you in the snow belt. I'll do my complaining in August when it is 105 (and I am still riding LOL). May 2010 be your best year yet! Dave
  24. OK, You guys back east kept talking about snow and wished it on us on the west coast. Now I can not go for a ride. Cabin fever setting in fast and it has only been snowing for two hours, just enough on ground to make it slick. About an half an inch.
  25. I have decided that i hate snow, and any temp under 60!!!! I say we make a Petition to tell the government to stop it now! We got 20 Inches of snow here In randolph nebraska with some story high drifts, good thing dad got that new expensive:mo money: snowblower!!!! How much did you all get?
