  1. anyone want to give this a try, http://www.maniacworld.com/crazy-bike-trail.html Hal
  2. I was thinking about setting up a date for who ever wants to meet at the Lapeer Drag-way for some fun. I had my car there a couple of times last year and seen some bikes run. It didn't seem they had any special equipment on . Maybe we could get some good 1st gen 2nd gen action going and finally put the argument to rest. It was pretty cheap, if you go on Sat. it is test and tune day I think 30 bucks for the day. Run as many times as you want. Would make some great youtube.
  3. I have found a 1996 Royal Star with 14,157 miles for $2500 that needs work. the chrome has some pitting ,nothing bad. Will need front tire, they lost the key so they broke the ignition switch, and it needs a new battery. I have not seen or heard it run and don't want to take a 5hr ride for nothing sow my question is is it worth it? http://i.ebayimg.com/24/!BmHR-v!BGk~$(KGrHqEH-D0EtrQGqcPOBLebCn77RQ~~_12.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/14/!BmHR6LQBGk~$(KGrHqIH-DYEtqb5TnD)BLebCd(L8!~~_12.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/16/!BmHRutwBGk~$(KGrHqUH-DcEtvJ5qQ20BLebB+0f6g~~_12.JPG

Would you believe it, snow!! For the first time in fourteen years it's snowing. It's the big light fulffy kind. The kids are having a ball. I know you people up north could care less, but it is a big deal around here in Mobile,Al. Saw a big 10 point buck run through my yeard a few hours ago. Guess he didn't know what snow was. tew47
  5. I'm heading to Vegas for a training course in a couple of weeks and was thinking about renting a bike for a day. Can anyone recommend a rental place that will not nickel and dime me to death. Thought I'd take a run from Vegas to Lake Havasu to see the London Bridge. I've never rented a bike before so any tips will be appreciated.
  6. I haven't ridden my '98 RSTC for a while, so I thought I'd make the wife's requested grocery run on it. Since it has not been run in a while, I thought I'd idle it up a little while I put on my helmet and gloves. Well, the little silver idle adjustment thumb screw is nowhere to be found. Has any one else had this happen? Will it come loose and pop back under the tank? Seems like I remember it was hanging on a little wire bracket, but I don't see that either.
  7. Just purchased an 05 Venture, this bike has been sitting for about a year. The previous owner bought it as a rebuilder, it has some damage on right side, all cosmetic no structural or mechanical. Anyway he said when he bought it he charged the battery and it started right up and ran good. Now it acts as if its not getting gas to the carbs,(fires and chugs some with choke out but wont take off and run) I have no juice to the fuel pump, is there a relay? all the fuses that I can find are ok. I unplugged the pump and hot wired it and it seems to be locked up, wont run acts like a dead short. Any suggestions??
  8. Hey All was just wondering, for years now I've wanted to do a Butt Burner 1500 (for thoses who dont know http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/getdocument.cfm?DocID=1) But never to seem to have had the right bike for it. Couple years back when I got my 86 it had sat for almost 7 years so after about 2 grand of work I did get it running well and had really thought about doing one, then the stater went so I rebuilt it, then the shock went to poop so I replaced that and kinda figured it just wasnt a smart plan. Now last year I sold my baby *snif*snif* and got my wife#2 05 midnight so I think this is it lol. After all my ramblings I am looking to see if anyone would be interested in riding along. The wife isnt looking for 1500 milles in 36 hours so I am flying solo. Would be leaving from Traverse City area heading up over the mighty mac and heading west towards South Dakota (750 miles out) then turn and head back, not much of a party'er lol looking to run pretty hard maybe finish the day with a good meal and beer but think it should be a blast thinking Juneish but am kinda open so if you may wanna run a butt burner lol let me know!!
  9. I updated my maps today (took over 6 hours) !!! Then when time came to actually load them on the Zumo, it announced that due to map expansion there was not enough room to load all maps and I should select the area desired...... Well.....That's really annoying !!!! Has anyone run into the same thing? And what did you do about it?? Now it seems you can load maps onto an SD card....So I did, but what does that mean? Is it then necessary to insert card each time you "run off the edge of the world"? and what happens to your music waypoints etc...? I am truly annoyed.
  10. Well, finally had a problem I can't solve immediately. The old 87 started running hot- right up to the red zone. Sounds like a sticking thermostat to me. Then it would drop. Then run hot again. And I'm in Southern Mexico, with daytime highs in the 80's. Never run this hot... So I took the old one out.It is running about 1/3 to 1/2 up the green zone. Nice and cool. I think when I come back to the US and the cold winds howl, I'll have to do the trucker trick with a block in front of the radiator...I don't want to pull this ***** again without a new one on hand! Thanks for your comments!
  11. Who's doing the tenth annual poker run around lake O. I will be their. Hope to meet some people from VR. Marty
  12. well, just started my 1300 v-star and ran it on fast idle for 25 minutes, only 3 more to go, since i don't believe in winterizing, i try to run them all at least once a week. we had a light snow, and there is still ice patches on the road. may be able to ride the other 3 later in the day. just a tip, if you do start them up, run them till the crankcase feels good and warm. this will get rid of all the condensation in the engine and mufflers, and coat the innards with oil. winterizing is the worst thing you can do for the internals of the engine and transmission. i have had bike motors apart that sat a few weeks in extreme temperature changes and the cylinders and gears had a light haze of rust due to condensation. if you don't run the motor at least keep it in a heated area. i keep my zx-14 in my shop all winter, and still run it every few weeks. i also keep battery tenders on all of them. if the battery is allowed to go dead and sit it will sulfate and ruin it. best thing you can do is dress warm and ride them at least 25 miles every week all winter if the streets are clear. make sure the crankcase gets good and warm, or you will do more harm than good.
  13. Today was WONDERFUL day for the most part. We went for a nice lunch with another couple then the 4 of use went for a nice ride out in the country. Perfect weather! As we came down a road, there was a dog in the street as in ready to chase us. I slowed to about 40ish. I figured he would hang off to the side and run along side like they always do. - WRONG!!! The darn dog jumped at my bike and caught my Left Kurykan footpeg and my heel in the head. I heard the yelp and felt my heal on his head. I was scared he was going to get under the bike. If he did, I think we would have gone down, as he had to weigh 60ish lbs. The couple behind us said that he had to have had his neck broken. We didn't stop, (should we have?). I don't know what we could've done other than watch him die. My wife was VERY upset and I didn't want to make matters worse. I was really kinda in shock about the whole thing. We are BIG dog lovers. I just can't believe that he jumped at the bike. I've never had one do that before. They always stand off to the side and just run alongside and bark. I'm somewhat angry that the owners let the dog run free when they probably knew that he liked to chase! I've gone over it in my head all day, and I honestly believe there is nothing I could've done to avoid it, other than riding a different road. I'm sure this makes me sound like a puss, but it is upsetting. craigr

  16. Any of you lads out there use 44K Power Enhancer for cleaning out your fuel system? Soon will be the time to put the bike away for the winter, I'm still trying to squeeze in as much riding as possible before that time.. So this would be an opportune time to clean out the carbs and such with this product.. However, what's the best method? Full can in the tank and run it hard? Run some full strength though the system for a bit ? What's the general consensus on this?
  17. What is the best way to do a twin antenna setup on a 1st gen? I have them both with extra mount. Should I run 1 antenna to the CB and eleminate the splitter, and the other directly to the stereo? Or go 2 into 1, then into the splitter?
  18. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcdmH_hVWBY&feature=related]YouTube - Michelin's Revolutionary Airless Tires[/ame] Only if they were on the market, Think of the possibilities. It's better than run flat.
  19. Quickstep and I had a great day (Sunday) doing the annual Patriots M/C poker run for prostate cancer research. Left at 8am, and got home at 7pm Great to catch up with a lot of people I hadn't seen since the accident (2 1/2 yrs) and to make new friends also. :clap2:A lot of the members are Vietnam Vets, as well as some still serving in the forces. I live in a navy town and have always supported their fund raiser's etc. Great bunch of folk's and they were interested in my "quike" and loved the fact I was still riding.
  20. I know we have it here somewhere but I can't find it. What is the right # for the TCI in my 85?? I know the one in there is the wrong one but runs pretty fair don't it Skid and Grindo?? Dano got me to thinking so I'll swap it out and see. Hope it don't run much better. Can't keep front wheel on ground now!!! I have a TDI14-17 in there now. 26H-10
  21. Washington State Police estimated 30,000 motorcycles and 70,000 people attended this years "Oyster Run" in Anacortes Washington. And I BELIEVE them! It took me almost an hour when I left just to run the "Gauntlet". This is rapidly becoming Sturgis West! silverdeer
  22. I've had these on my other bikes and wanted to know if someone could tell me which will work on my 03 RSV? Thanks
  23. I have an 87 Venture Standard, which has been running great, and still runs pretty well, but something's off a bit. It doesn't miss, and seems to run well above 3500 rpm or so, but at lower rpm levels it has a bit of a rumble, as if the carbs are out of sync, but I'm not sure. I run about a quarter can of Seafoam when I fill the gas tank, (most times), and recently replaced the spark plugs, which made no difference. All the plugs looked the same. Someone new to the bike probably wouldn't even notice it, but it's definitley there. Would this be a likely symptom of the carbs being out of sync, or the dreaded diaphragm problem, or could it be ignition? I just can't put my finger on what sort of problem it is. I figure someone here may be able to help clue me in. Thanks.
  24. He was one of the riders in The Poker Run .......ITS LOUD !!! The organizers placed him in Back pf the Pack
