  1. On the "Farewell / good by" thread, I read your post and looked up and noticed the title has got to be all wrong. Insteaad of this> It should read > VentureRider.org Dedicated to Yamaha's GREAT Royal Star Venture, The Antique Venture Royal and all Royal Star Motorcycles. Bryan
  2. I have a Tour Classic that I bought with the windshield missing. I have some parts here but darned if I can figure out how it mounts and what else I need. The windshileds that I see for sale (here for example: http://houston.craigslist.org/for/2638821004.html ) don't look anything like the diagrams on bikebandit (here: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2001-yamaha-xvz1300ltn-royal-star-tour-deluxe/o/m10192#sch517898 ). All three posts advertising a 1996-2001 Royal Star windshiled look like the craiglist one above. Can anyone look at these diagrams and enlighten me as to what the difference is? Can someone take a closeup picture of their windshield so I can see? I actually have some of the parts like in the Craigslist link above, but it seems too narrow to go on the factory mounts (items 18 & 19 on Bikebandit link) that are on the bike. I have been keeping my eye out for a year proper Royal Star in San Diego to look at, but none so far. Also, if there is anyone in San Diego with a 96=01 Royal Star non-Venture with the windshield, can I take a look at your bike? Thanks, Tim
  3. I have searched this forum and the Internet and have not found a resolution, so here it goes. There are may sources for footboard extensions for the Road Star, but I can't find anything for the Royal Star except possibly new footboards and mounts from Baron. I am 6'3" and would like to extend and tilt the boards, even if I lose some cornering clearance. Any advIce is appreciated!
  4. So my fathe rin law ( 76 shovel head rider) took my bike out for a lil while and he has a few comlaints which I myself have had in the past. the royal star rides a bit rough. having a monoshock with no spring gives the bumps a very jarring effect. he even noticed that the forks were riding rough. I think i am correct that there is no adjustment for the forks. This is the royal star tour classic 96 and there is no way to add air nor have I heard of anyone changing the fork fluid or replacing the rear shock with after market or another bike swap. Has anyone changed thier fluid or the rear shock on this type of bike. i thought It was due to my size but my father in law is 200 lbs lighter than me and he also notices it.
  5. I recently picked up a 98 Royal Star Tour Classic and I'm unable to work the seat lock. I have an ignition key and a key that releases the fuel cap. Which key is used to release the seat lock? Neither key seem to go in very far. I sprayed a small amount of PB Blaster into the lock, but still no luck. Thank you, ~Jason
  6. Did not see any other posts for wiring a Royal Star Tour Deluxe here. Never ever done this on a motorcycle before. 1. Do I just pick up a standard 4 wire connector for a pick up truck ? 2. Does the Royal Star Tour Deluxe (2007) have wiring harness somewhere stashed under seat/something ? 3. Does the standard 4 wire trailer wiring work for most trailers and such ? I hope there is a good write up with lots of pictures somewhere on this for me. This is going to be mostly for an extra light accessory for now. We are going to fab (with help from a good friend and brother in the Lord) up a flag holder for the bike to fit my hitch, for PGR trips. Then later I want a trailer. Thanks for any help. Fuzzy
  7. I was going thru some of the gallery and saw that some of the 1st Gens have floor boards instead of pegs for the driver, was this an option that could be specail ordered with ROYAL pkg? Does any one have any or where can I look for some, also is there a rocker shifter {heel toe} that goes with this?
  8. with your help,i need venture royal off the trunk 1'st gen 2 royal off the sattle bags so i can fit in again lowell
  9. 9079.1 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-YQAveqpug&NR=1]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-YQAveqpug&NR=1[/ame] WAS LOOKING AT ROYAL STAR ON YOUTUBE AND THERE'S HUNDREDS OF LISTING ON THERE NOW. uses to go and only find a few on it. this video shows about 15-20 royals riding around germany and the poster has a few more of the same trip. looks like a royal ride-in european style!! got mine in 2001 and you couldn't find anything much about them anywhere, now the whole world knows about them. it's great to see so many other enjoying these great bikes, wish yamaha would step up and get their head out of their azzes and do the right thing and upgrade them to what they should be!!!
  10. the virago is up for sale in the classified section, here is the replacement 2006 royal star midnight tour deluxe.
  11. Will 2001 Venture carbs fit onto a 2000 Royal Star?
  12. Hi All: Haven't been around much, working too much o/t and having to get the house ready really sucked. I need a new master cylinder for the clutch on my 96 royal star. It's pooched. Would anyone have one around that they'd like to part with? Pinwall only has one, and somebody wants it a lot worse than I do, the bidding is up over $100 for it already. If you have one available, or know where I can get a rebuild kit, I'd appreciate hearing from you. The old royal star is sold, and I have my 04 midnite venture on the block as well...it appears that we are getting out of biking and heading sailing. Retirement is about 10 years away...and we'd like to do it on a sailboat somewhere warm...like the Caribbean. More to follow on that. Thanks, and hi to all that Beth and I know! gunk:shock3:
  13. i post in other club rallies about a rally we are having in birmjngham,Al this 2011. anyone is welcome to attend this event. we started it off another forum for the 96-01 standard royal stars, but all are welcome to come. we're riding to little river canyon area and hope to visit barbers museum and race track. check it out, don.
  14. Pulled into Racers Bar and Grill and saw this nice Royal Star in the parking lot. Turns out to be owned by a guy I've known for 3 years but have never seen him on anything except for his Valkyrie. It's a 96 he bought new and has hardly rode it since he bought his Valkyrie. He made that custom seat. Says he's now using it for his around town ride.
  15. Hey Guys I new here my nephew (17) and I have been buying selling old Barn n Garage finds for the last 5 years done 4 total frame up restorations mostly cafe racer and choppers. Back in 80 a Drunk Driver went left of center and hit me head on on a 2 stoke 750 Kaw, in a wheelchair but still get up and work on motorcycles just about every day no kids so I get to be cool uncle tom the "Biker" Anyway we picked up a an 83 Venture Royal , and an 83 goldwing, think I'll just give the GL a detail and flip, The Venture Royal not going to do a full restoration, but going to pull most of the aluminum and chrome, Buff it all out. and a good detailing Any one know where I might find some exploded drawings of this bike so I could get an idea what I am getting into Going to try saddle soap on the seat, but passenger back rest is torn any one got one of those ??? Thanks Tom:322:
  16. Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. I did have a good look through the threads but couldn't find anything that could help. So I'm hoping that someone here can help me. I have a Royal Star that I have stripped down to be repainted and some some TLC wotk on as well. Bike 1997 Royal Starr XVZ1300 I have done the following work; Hand Polished Controls New Clutch Cylinder New Foot Controls Resprayed New Battery Filters etc Many other little bits now worth mentioning. I put it back together last week and tried to crank it over and the starter motor spins but there is no spark at the spark plugs. As the starter motor spins and the coils and leads were fine prior to the work I did (it was starting and going fine), I think that the digital igniter might be blown. Does this happen? When I hooked it all up and tried to crank it the first few times I did hear a pop from under neath the seat sounding like a fuse blowing. But all the fuses were fine. If it is the igniter is it better to get a performance after-market one such as the Dynatek 3000 one? Thanks for you help in advance.
  17. My last rear brake pads lasted forever compared to the originals but they also wore down the rotor. Looking on ebay I saw several off of the original Royal Stars and Royal Star Tour Deluxes. It looks to me like they should work on my Royal Star Venture. Does anybody know that for sure?
  18. So I have just joined this forum, wanted to say hi, and introduce myself. I am on my third royal star venture. I started with a 1996 roal star tour classic thati bought in 2004 with 7000 miles on it, when i finished with it, it had 87,000 on it by the middle of 2007. I bought a new 06 royal star midnight venture, which was running strong until someone ran it over while parked last week. Good thing my insurance covered what was left on the loan plus enough ectra to get another motorcycle. A new 2010 royal star venture s. Yes, I like the motorcycle, I dont own a car, i ride all the time, and in southern california traffic, it absolutely saves me time and gas over driving a car. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

  20. I'm in need of the cord that comes from radio out to the tank cover. '86 Venture Royal.
  21. The question has been asked a few times if there was a gear indicator available for the Royal Star Venture and the Royal Star. I have been in contact with the same company that makes the Speedohealer and they do have one that will work on our bikes. I have been 100% pleased with the Speedohealer so decided to add the gear indicator also. This is a simple plug and play device that indicates what gear you are in. I just ordered one and will give a full report on it after I receive and install it but if this is something you have been interested in, you can find the information here. They told me that we should purchase from their USA Distributor: http://www.calsportbike.com/gpx but the manufacturers website is: http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ From the info they sent to me: The GIpro X-type will work great. Part number: "GIPRO-X-color + GPX-Y01" Where 'color' is either Red or Blue Price is $132.99
  22. Hey Nj . is there a member group meeting that i can be a part of or can we set up a date for a few of our members to meet and greet and enjoy the beauty that is the ROyal star. I live in central jersey maybe once we get a few Nj people chiming in we can set up a date. jose 1996 RS
  23. As most Know, I decided to sell the 86 VR to buy a bike that had a lower seat height. I found a 00 Royal Star in good shape in Austin and went to pick it up yesterday. (missed the Maint Day in Houston). It has plenty of power and is in excellent shape. BUT. I can feel every ridge and bump in the freeway. Maybe I was spoiled with the CLAS on the VR, But I can seen why this guy said he had back problems. It has Avon tires on it, so that may be part of it. I noticed very little rear suspension travel and felt like it may have bottomed out a time or two. Now the prior owner was 6' 3" and about 250, but I am only 190, so what's up>
  24. Any way to tell if you have good spark or if your spark is weak in your ignition system:sick:
  25. Last year I installed a set of Jardine Chromed forward controls on my 96 royal star. Although I really enjoy the looks of them on the bike, I'm just not comfortable using them. I'm stretched out just a little too much for my 5'8" fatman frame.....and for myself, it's just not comfortable enough to continue using them. I'm going to put the regular Yamaha floorboards, shifter and brake systems back on...returning that part of the bike to stock. So...when I have a chance to dig the bike out of the backyard shed....the ground is still way too soft to get the bike out....I'll post some pics of them on the bike, and put them up for sale. I'll be asking $300 plus actual shipping costs. They are mint, I only put on about 600 miles on that bike last year. Thought I'd post this up in case someone else is thinking of installing a set on their royal star, they list for $700 new. Here's a couple of pics when I installed them. gunk:confused24:
