  1. TO make things simpler, does anyone have (or not have) a support for their windshield that mounts under the handlebar risers on top of the triple-trees? This part has a "Star" symbol on it in the middle.
  2. I have a Tour Classic that I bought with the windshield missing. I have some parts here but darned if I can figure out how it mounts and what else I need. The windshileds that I see for sale (here for example: http://houston.craigslist.org/for/2638821004.html ) don't look anything like the diagrams on bikebandit (here: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2001-yamaha-xvz1300ltn-royal-star-tour-deluxe/o/m10192#sch517898 ). All three posts advertising a 1996-2001 Royal Star windshiled look like the craiglist one above. Can anyone look at these diagrams and enlighten me as to what the difference is? Can someone take a closeup picture of their windshield so I can see? I actually have some of the parts like in the Craigslist link above, but it seems too narrow to go on the factory mounts (items 18 & 19 on Bikebandit link) that are on the bike. I have been keeping my eye out for a year proper Royal Star in San Diego to look at, but none so far. Also, if there is anyone in San Diego with a 96=01 Royal Star non-Venture with the windshield, can I take a look at your bike? Thanks, Tim
  3. Update on this in case anyone is interested: I found a set of Jardine forward controls on FleaBay and I will be installing them this week. Still will probably go with the Baron engine guard and highway pegs later.
  4. The highway peg setup you guys have looks like a very confortable one. I might just go with that and be done with it. Thanks for the advice. Not having the Venture, I will need to put an engine guard on it first. I gotta tell you, I would like to own a small good handling sports car like the Miyata but I can't even sit in it much less drive it.
  5. This must be a very difficult modification. I am going to do a bit or wrenching this weekend to see for myself, and report back here what I find out. Might have to go with forward controls if I can't extend the footboards. Anyone know where I can find a used set?
  6. Thanks Condor, I will be going with either the either the Baron engine guard or the Kuryakyn Adjustable Mustache Bar and highway pegs in addition to any footboard modifications. After looking at pictures of the frames, it looks like extending the controls on the Road Star is easy due to a flat mounting surface. The Royal Star frame appears to have recessed bolt holes making the mod more difficult. I just can't believe that no one has solved the problem.
  7. I have searched this forum and the Internet and have not found a resolution, so here it goes. There are may sources for footboard extensions for the Road Star, but I can't find anything for the Royal Star except possibly new footboards and mounts from Baron. I am 6'3" and would like to extend and tilt the boards, even if I lose some cornering clearance. Any advIce is appreciated!
