  1. If there happens to be anyone around the Bend Oregon area I need a small favor. Shaun
  2. Dear Fellow North Georgia riders, Though I was unable to participate in many of the local M&E, I did get to a few and certainly will miss Terry's leadership. One of the reasons I missed was involvement leading a group of riders myself. When I spoke with Terry after his announcement he encouraged me to consider doing both.... at the same time. So after some thought I would like to throw out an invitation. I head up a small group of riders we call COR (Community of Riders) that began out of my church. We ride once a month from March through October as well as our annual January 1st ride. Though we have 30 or 40 who I notify ride dates, we normally have 4 - 12 bikes show up. Our first ride of the year is this coming Saturday (March 19th) and we will be going from Roswell up to Blairsville for lunch and then back to Roswell. We will be meeting at the QT on the corner of Hwy 92 and Maybry Road. Hope to gather by 8:45 with KU at 9. We are a pretty diverse group that like those here simply enjoy the wind on our knees and fellowshipping with others who enjoy the same. Obviously not sure what to expect however the more the merrier and if need be we'll just add some mid pack ride leaders to help keep us together. If you would like to get a better feel for the group feel free to visit our blog at I will try and keep tabs here or you may PM me. All the best, Norm
  3. I don't know if this has been put up already, but my cousin posted it on Facebook and I thought it was worth passing on, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--92lbsY2T0]YouTube - NRA Life of Duty Patriot Profile -- Patriot Guard Riders[/ame]
  4. Any riders from Hictory NC that tried the German Resturant there need reviews!!
  5. This is one of many videos we run. Sort of puts things in perspective when coming upon a emergency scene on the roadways and are especially dangerous for bike riders. People are focused on whats going on and not what is in front of them. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQxZClobIdU&feature=related]YouTube - "It's no Picnic"[/ame]
  6. for Riders that don't have music . What do you think ? http://www.easy-motorcycle.com/ruckus-50-audio-mp3-fm-radio-speaker-mirror-motorcycle-scotter-p-502.html?zenid=tiajvfjs364vbt6oh52hvqgah4
  7. I'm looking for the guy who does the seat customizing for the Ventures. i believe it is the "Butler" redo. I want to send him my 2006 Venture riders seat now that the season is over here in MN.. Thanks, Byron
  8. Was getting cabin fever already here in IL, and with the sun shining, and a toasty 36 degrees out, I got the bike out and rode for about an hour. Heated gloves, toe warmers in my boots, extra layer of leather on and my Shark Evoline in full face mode, I was pretty toasty, although I forgot the face/neck wrap that would have kept away a little of a draft. Still was nice to get out, never saw another bike. Any other cold weather riders out there?
  9. #10) 36 degrees for 5 or so hours can be done . . . it's not as fun as it sounds . . . but it can be done #9) It Really is warmer in Florida #8) They know how to grill fish properly in Florida #7) Vaseline cures anything and everything . . . right Brake Pad??? #6) If it in any way resembles an alarm clock sound some people will get up and take a shower . . . even if it is 1:11am and not 6am . . . right Tom??? #5) If you wet down used dryer sheets they will easily remove dead love bugs from your car or bike #4) If you smear Vaseline on the front of your bike you won't have to worry about Love Bugs sticking to your bike at all (see #7) #3) Wife and I are still laughing about #6 HAHAHA #2) Venture riders will not pass up an opportunity for Ice Cream even the ones in Florida and Top 10 Thing I learned at the Florida M&E #1) Venture Riders in Florida do know how to have a fun Meet and Eat
  10. Need some ideas on how to Hook wiring up for accent lights .You riders have the best ideas.please help.
  11. We had our monthly meeting tonight and I am happy to say that the Alabama folks are ready for this St Jude challenge. At this point it looks like everyone is on board and excited about getting out and raising money for this very worthy cause. We may see the participation dwindle some as the year wears on but for right now it looks like we may actually have a shot at victory! I am a member of both groups so I will try to stay sort of nuetral and help both sides. Just hope everyone remembers what this is really about and keeps it fun. I have been accused of being a spy for the Venturerider group already so I will not divulge any information about amounts raised by either side. The Road riders do not have a website but are on Facebook under NARR if there is any info on there then it is public and can be accessed by any inquiring minds.
  12. While we were in the parking lot at St. Jude Hospital awaiting our tour guides, a gentleman who came with somone from Ala. approached me and issued a challenge. He was with the North Alabama Riders, which used to be a GWRR chapter. They have seperated themselves from GWRR and have formed a seperate group of wing riders. They wanted to know if we would accept the challenge that they could raise more money for St. Jude than Ventureriders. I didnt hesitate one moment and accepted it, because I know that we are up to the challenge, and second part of the challenge is that they would have not only more donations but more riders coming to St. Jude next year.............I have stepped out in faith on both parts and accepted it knowing full well that we are up to it........ So I am hoping some of the folks who will be hosting rallies, meet and eats and anything else they can do, will to step up to the plate and help us out. We have one year to fullfill this challenge and I am already tossing some ideas around for what I can do at Vogel. Know that this year with some help from many members we were able to raise almost $1900.00 and this was a year where we did not have a Tail of the Dragon @ Vogel to boost the tally, so next year I plan on at least doubling the amount that was raised by my effort. Right now Venturerider.org has rasied a grand total of $12,376.00 over 5 years. If you have any ideas for me or want to throw your hat in the ring, please let me know so I can start a list of who is doing what, I want to be able to document and keep a record of who is doing what. I am also hoping that those who organize something will be able to show up at St. Jude next year and deliver their donations in person instead of me or someone else being responsible for all the donations. :mo money:
  13. Were you the guy who brought all the wing riders to Memphis? Thanks for doing so if it was you. I wasnt able to catch up to them after the tour and I wanted to talk to the guy who challenged us for next year. If you can send me his email address, I would sure appreciate it. Got to get a head start on those guys for next years effort, they sound like a pretty serious bunch of riders with their fundraising abilities....................:mo money:
  14. Met up with a bunch of the FJR riders (about 50) at the Rio Grand Gorge in Taos NM, during our ride last week. One of the guys (The leader of the group) had a car tire on his rear. I was just wondering if any Venture riders did this. I know some of the Gold Wings are know to do this. No I'm not thinking about putting on on my first generation Venture.
  15. Teri and I have been here summarizing our rides during this season. Just returned from south Utah where we had the fortune of visiting our folks (her in-laws). We went down through Evanston Wyoming found some very scenic highways to travel.. Utah state highway 150 was delightful, technical and worthy of another ride. Highway 72 was also very nice...great ride. Riding through Salt Lake City on the other hand is not fun not scenic and makes my knuckles white. Pretty much every place we camped this season BC to south Utah we met folks either giving us firewood, Salmon cooked on Ceder boards, fresh fantastic stew, shared their fires with us, great conversation...friendly sharing what they have with out any asking. People just seem to go out of their way to be generous and kind. We both agree we are seeing a change..or maybe we are both finally open to it and we realize how profound the effects this sort of kindness has on us. We have always enjoyed sharing what we have with folks yet have been reluctant to be open to accepting what others would share with us. We realize we have more often than not avoided that opportunity for others to share with us. We have found that Venture Riders exemplify a giving sharing attitude and through our travels we have been very proud to be Venture Riders and demonstrate the core philosophy that we believe Venture Riders values. Our experience has made us both more determined than ever to go out of our way to perform random acts of kindness, as well as accept them. Would be nice to hear of some of those sharing stories others here have experienced. Teri n Erv
  16. for all you camper type riders , check this out , http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010/08/buffalino-tiniest-rv-ever.php I think it is a Class A motor home on 3 wheels
  17. is there any venture riders in california?
  18. Do you connect your battery tender to the battery when the bike is only going to be sittting for a short time such as over night or for a few days. The connection is convenient and the wall plug i sin the garage right next to where I park the bike. I've seen statements about the charging system on the RSV being "barely adequate" and thought that sort of routinely plugging it in might be helpful. I've talked to other riders, and riders of other bikes, and have never really met anyone that says they do this. Does it help? Does it hurt? Is it a waste of time? Opinions? Comments? Thanks in advance (TIA)
  19. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/main-street-port-dover/v3 Here's a link to a live webcast in Port Dover, ON, CA Friday the 13th is always a big day there for riders...... gunk:scorched:
  20. Riding today was pretty good. Met many bikes out on the road, But what caught my attention was the fact of who wasn't waving back. The ones on the GWs were the ones looking the other way, or just ignoring us alltogether. What's up with that. I know all GW riders as Not all HD riders are a__holes ,but why they want to look down there nose at us.Just really pisses me off when somebody passes judgement on me, thinking themselves better. We all ride two wheels, can't help it if I want to see my engine not plastic.:soapbox:Sorry I'll go back to my corner now.No offense to the GW riders on the site have met a few of you and like you all.
  21. My Mom and Dad were just awarded this by the State of Maine Patriot Guard Riders. The award will now be given out annually in my parents name. All 6 of us kids are proud of Mom and Dad and their involvement with The Patriot Guard Riders.
  22. I'd like to extend an invation to my Venture Rider board friends, to an event that I've put together. It's based around the members of the GL1800 board which I'm also a member of. We Gold Wing riders would love to have you RSV riders come out. The area is some of the best riding in Pennsylvania. http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=238966&highlight=renovo Bill Morphy http://www.Mic-Mutes.com
  23. Venture riders sure like to hug
  24. How many wings showed up at MD? I think I saw a pic of Ecks bike. Were there any others? Were any Venture riders converted?
  25. Trike Riders - are there any trike riders out there that's going to the "Trike Riders International" Ralley being held at Branson, Missouri August 19,20,21? I'll be heading up to Indianapolis 8-15 to meet up with my cousin and some others and then head out to Branson. Below is the web site. Ken:cool10: http://www.trikes.org/rally2010.htm
