  1. This spring, the radio started losing station memory or messing up on the stations. But I was able to re-set them and things were OK. Then I rode an hour in the rain last Saturday. Dried the bike out over several days and went for a ride yesterday and now there is only one station...on all channels, and I can't use the seek, channel up/down or even change from FM to AM and back. The intercom and CB work perfect. Anyone dealt with this, and does anyone have a nice working radio section including the cassette they would be willing to sell? I want my tunes...luckily the one station is my favorite, but it has lousy reach.
  2. My cord that comes from the radio back to the drivers? headset is bad where do I look for a new one? It's one of those 5 pin jobs with a 90 on one end
  3. I had asked yesterday what the back up fuse work for. Well I finally followed it through the wiring diagram. You will all be happy to know it fuses the audio and cb system. Sure enough without it, no radio or cb. Bob
  4. Does anybody offer a MP3 jack mod for the mitusubishi radio? Sierra Electronics does one for the Goldwing radio.
  5. Hello there in America. First i want to introduce myself. I'm from Belgium, work in the military and my hobbies are enduro (KTM EXC 300) and my RSV 2001. I own one of the probably 80 RSV's here in my country. After 2001 the RSV was no more imported in Belgium. Now my problem! When i put on my audio radio, CD or cassette it works fine. But after 10' everything begins to live its own live! The radio begins to peep and on the cover of the remote i get all the abbreviations (sp, hs, loud,...). If the cd is playing it constantly skips to another song and the cassette is continiously turning from one side to the other. While reading these forum i've used the magicly dielectric grease but it won't help:crying: I suppose that my problem has began while i was starting up my flat battery with a batterycharger? Does someone oversea can help me? Because here in my country the Yamahadealers have no experience. Thanks for reading my message:thumbsup2:
  6. There are many different posts on here about what type of aftermarket radio you should use. I see many people say they would go with the JMCB-2003-Dual, I want to be able to talk with my passenger and with my wife on the other bike. However, I can't find anyone who says whether they are good or bad. I see the post on the Q4 powerset; however, you can only talk with one other bike and they seem to have a lot of problems. I want a CB so i can talk to several other bikes. I like the looks of the JMCB set but I was first wanting to know how people who have them like them, second are there any problems with them. The next thing I would like to know is there a better system out there that has a radio in it. I don't listen to it much but like it in the morning to check the traffic. All I am really looking for here is opinions so please let me hear them.
  7. I put a new radio in the bike today. I found a unit at Wal-Mart that had an Ipod input as well as a USB and SD memory chip port. Can handle up to a 16 gig chip, which would be around 3,000 songs. Has skip, replay, folder selection functions. Front rear balance. Radio gets excellent reception. No CD player in unit so it is only about 2/3 the depth of a normal radio. Blue back lighting. This was only $40. I can puty up to a 16 gig memory card in player with songs in different folders depending on preference. Navigator likes country so I can have that music in a folder that can be played for her. I had completely removed the stock radio and filled in cover with plexiglas last year. I had a car unit with a CD player in it, but the CD would skip on bike. Made a cover for it to keep rain out. Probably get a marine style cover for it in future. Stock speakers have been replaced with 3 way units. I also have a pair of small tweeters mounted in the saddle bags. Gary
  8. I'm having a dickens of a time getting audio thru my headsets. When I play XM radio thru the speakers they will draw police attention because it can be loud. As soon as I switch to the headsets the volume drops to less than half. When using the headsets with the CB on and the XM on, I have to have the XM volume so loud it almost causes ringing in my ears just so that I get a faint CB reception. I know there is an answer - I just can't seem to find it. HELP !! btw - I have a Garmin 450
  9. I have a 08 venture. Yesterday the radio started getting a noise in it. Then I see the display going on & off. It must be a bad connection? where do I start looking????????????
  10. had my radio taken out and sent in to claireon does any body know about how long it takes to get it back:icon_smile_question
  11. I have been lurking on the forum for sometime picking up info on various things. However, I have a question and need some help with the answer. I have a 2009 RSTD and my wife and I like to wear half helmets. What are my options for audio between the two of us. I am not really interested in cb, radio or cd. I would just like to be able to talk while going down the road. Thanks for any help in advance.
  12. While at a Rally this past weekend, a HD owner cranked up his radio. Oh my does that radio Rock!!! Would replacing the speakers in mine help any? Craigr
  13. Is there somewhere online I can purchase intercom adaptor cables that hook into the connectors on the bike? What is manufacturer and part number? Also, what then do I need to adapt those to earbuds? I've read that the Sony EX71SLB work nice and are comfy. I'm thinking of doing this more for my wife so she can hear the radio while riding on back. Am I on the right track here....if she's plugged into rear connector will speakers still have sound?
  14. Went for a short ride last night and all of a sudden realized my Sirius radio wasn't working, yet it was fine on Saturday when we were out. Anyone have one of these....are they prone to crapping out all of a sudden? It's only a year old. I haven't delved into it yet so not sure if it's the radio or the power source or what. I run the power off the aux power supply in the fairing and that is working so it might be the power convertor itself ... drats!! now I'll have to split the fairing (again) to check it.
  15. Has anyone else had a problem with radio interferance. Sitting in my driveway and the radio went nuts, noticed that the neighbour was using his table saw, when he turned it off the radio was OK..then went he turned it back on the inferance returned....even when the radio volume was turned off...is this normal John
  16. Sorry to repost this one folks.. My radio bit the dust the other week and still no dice trying to get it to work. I put my buddy's radio in it and that works.. so i know my unit it dead or something is amiss with that box. Does anyone know what the YELLOW banded cable does? When I pulled the connectors apart to take the radio out, the protective outter cap came off, so I'm wondering if perhaps I broke something in there etc etc..
  17. My Venture Royale does not have a CB Radio. thirdbike (from classifieds) will sell me the control unit and the transformer/filter piece that fits to it. What else do I need to add a CB to my bike? -Vinny
  18. I've been looking at purchasing the J&M CB Radio. Does anyone have experience with this product? The only thing I'm concerned about is the dual mode one for two riders with all the necessary wiring, head sets, antinnia can cost up to $700! Any thoughts suggestions? Thanks Mark
  19. Not too long before installing the HID on the bike, my radio had been acting up.. I had thought it was a bad connection on one of the cable plugs etc but the other day, the whole thing went up and died.. Turn the ignition on, press the audio or CB button on the handle bar controller and nothing.. the controller doesn't light up, no juice or crackle or nuttin coming through the speakers. I checks all the cables, wires, ground and so on etc etc.. nothing.. I pulled the radio from my buddy's bike as we were installing his HID and yup, his radio works.. ARGH... logic says, my radio is dead. oh no.. It sounded bad for weeks prior and it finally gave up the ghost the other day.. BLECH... can't even play MP3s as everything goes through that box.. Does any one know what the YELLOW cable does? So, here's the question.. Its a 2006 Midnight Venture. Its a US bike here in Canada. I have no warranty here in Canada but I can get warranty work done in the USA if I am down there and can find a sympathetic dealer to help.. Is the radio a warranty item? If so, then I might be in luck as I'm going on my long road trip through the USA next month and could find a dealer in Maine to do a swap.. only takes 12 minutes to swap it out.. OR... find someone who could help me by doing a swap? if NOT a warranty item, then where best to find a replacement radio? I'm guessing that the previous two owners had done such a bad wiring job under the hood before I bought the bike, I had so many problems with the steering locks cutting everything that it weakened everything and poof... it gave up the ghost. Hoping for some help.. Hard to ride in comfort and fun without the tunes.. =)
  20. I would like to listen to radio on my RSTD. I bought an IMC intercom which has a radio connection. I ran the wire under the fuel tank to my handlebars, so I could mount my iphone and use it for internet radio. It works, but only sitting still. It has so much engine noise in it that you cannot hear the radio. I'm interested in what others do.
  21. Oh fer croid's sake.. lol Since the bike is out of action for a coupla days I went and 'washed it' and promptly broke it again.. gremlins do vex me. After washing the bike the radio speakers were crackling.. odd sound, I thought it was just perhaps static because I was bringing the bike into the garage.. But when I turned the bike back on to check something the radio would not come online at all.. no audio/ radio / CB or another.. the controller is stone cold dead.. next please. I'm thinking something got really wet and shorted out.. Does anyone know where the fuse is for the radio?
  22. Big problem, last week my radio and cb quit working. To be more specific my speakers and headset will play a radio station but at a volume one can barely hear(must turn bike off). 1. All Controls work on handle bar control(just not loud enough) Must be on 30 to barely hear. 2. Audio fuses check out good. 3. Cleaned and dielectric greased ALL connections under fairing including radio ground and the red, yellow, white and blue booted connections. 4. Took controler apart and dielectric greased connection and bypassed volume control knob with no change in volume Question... Where in the heck is the amplifier on this bike? I have yet to find one.
  23. Hey...I'd like to hardwire an XM radio to my new-to-me RSV. (I already have an XM subscription for a factory-installed satellite radio in my car, so I'd be adding a unit to the sub). I also want to hardwire a Garmin GPS. By the way, splicing/slicing into any wiring scares the bejeebies outa me, but that is a whole 'nother issue and probably unavoidable if I don't want it to look like crap. I do want to be able to listen to the GPS/XMs over the headsets and through the speakers. Anywho, setting aside my current (lack of) disposible income, I personally can't see paying a huge premium for an integrated GPS/XM unit at this time, especially since the Sirius/XM company itself doesn't know what it's doing to integrate the companies, birds and radio subscriptions. Sooooo, I think I ought get a cheapie XM radio off ebay or something. Which brings me to one of my many questions.... What sort of XM radio do folks recommend? Looking around the board, the Roady seems pretty popular, but that was some time ago - maybe there's a better option now. Also, what's the difference between the Roady2 and the RoadyXT? Are there differences in reception, durability, ease of use, sound quality (the DAC), mounting options... As far as mounting options go, I sort of like the looks of the mounting brackets that go on the brake and clutch reservoirs (one for XM the other for the GPS?). Do they work okay on the sloping bars of RSVs? For anyone whose tried those, any comments/advice? Other mounting suggestions? In the future I probably will be upgrading both the GPS and the satellite radio, maybe even to an integrated unit depending on prices, etc. So, between the mounting and wiring options, I'd probably want something that, if not completely reversable, won't completely screw anything up later and is universal enough to be used with other units later. In doing that, are there any pitfalls that I should avoid? Sorry if I ask a lot of a questions. But like I said, electrical stuff (and wasting cash) scare the $%^& outa me. Thanks!
  24. I've been offered an '08 RSV. I WANT IT! Outside of getting the financing for my new toy [always fun], I'm looking at what other stuff I'm going to need for it. Top of the list is a helmet/headset set up so I can use the cb/cassette deck. 650 Customs don't come with these lil goodies. I have not gotten anything of the kind installed on my Wee Beastie as yet so I don't have any of the gear needed for this. All of my research into RSV's has been into the bike itself and not the add ons/oem equipment like the radio/cb systems. I don't know if the current owner's gear will fit me [providing he'll sell it] so I'm looking at what I need to get for it. Oh Fun! Any help, info, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated. I will be figuring out a way to install a Sirius Sat Radio on the bike and adding that to the sound system. Normally I will ride with either a full or flip face helmet but that might change when I'm finally behind a full fairing/windshield. But I won't be riding in anything less than a 3/4. Here's hoping everything works out and I'll have my new wheels in time for my so-called vacation this summer!
