Just wondering if anyone would know of a reasonable place to purchase a luggage rack for our 05 Venture. I've looked on ebay...but they are about $130.00. Used would be great if it was in good condition. Any idea's?

I have removed the trunk on my 03 RSMV. Now I want to put a backrest/luggage rack on for trips. I know, why didn't I just leave the trunk on. Well, I'm 5'7" and 145# and have put 57K miles on this beast mostly 2 up. The wife has her own now, and since she doesn't ride with me I decided to see what it felt like without the added "top" weight. Totally changed the way it handles. Love it even more. Now to the real question. Will the removable backrest and luggage rack for the newer RSTD's bolt right up on the 03 RSV? There are several holes in the fender strut and some of them were not used with the trunk rack. I'm thinking the RSTD fender/strut is probably the same as the RSV. Can anyone confirm this before I go out and blow a bunch of money on a part that won't fit? -
I bought a rack and the VentureDad hitch. Added the same LED light bar I have on my trunk to the rack. Bar contains tail, brake and turn signals.

Hey all: so I'm in Sanford, florida visitng my daughter who is in commerical flight school at Delta Connection Academy and we were going to lunch today and this burgandy/black rsv pulls up beside me at light with a biker bear mounted on luggage rack. Wish I could have spoke to them. Anyway does anyone in florida know who that was and are they on here. Would like to meet since I will be here till Wednesday. Thanks Brian D. PS. i've seen a few posts here talking about trailer hitch mounted racks. my question is, what kind of weights would you recommend limiting it to, and if anyone has built their own hitch, any caveats? i'm in college right now, and am taking alot of welding classes. I feel pretty confident about being able to fab a rack and trailer hitch up, but obviously, not having done it before, any tips would be hugged and loved and called george. I would like to make it out of aluminium, mostly to hold camping gear (cooler, tent, mostly light stuff) but i haven't priced out and cleared with the soon to be boss ( getting married on the 30th of may ) on what sort of welder is acceptable. I might have to settle for mild steel. thanks in advance, guys!

Went to the dealer today to get my oil changed and was browsing around and seen that they had a luggage rack for the Venture so i also bought it and had it installed. It looks awesome on the bike and will be very helpful on trips, can't wait to put it to use! I also got in about 200 miles today to give Rick Butler's seat mod a good test too, and i give him an A+ on the comfort of the seat and his work. What a great day!!!

Sent you a PM a but as far as I can tell doesn't look like you have read it yet so I thought I would try this instead. I while back I posted a message about flag pole holders for my trunk rack. Someone suggested I contact you to see if you have any more. One would do, but really looking for 3. Please let me know if you have any and if you would be willing to sell them. Thanks Jerry.

I was wondering how much gear can you safely pack on a bike and riding 2 up to camp with? My tent and cooking kit is small but would already overload the trunk and rack capacity. I figure I can strap the sleeping bags and pads to the sides to the saddlebags but cant figure out where to carry everything else. Honestly our bikes are big, but they dont have a lot of storage room. I was thinking of getting a giant tank bag to strap to my tank rack... anyone have any suggestions? I am getting a hitch made but with the wife losing her job buying the camper trailer is no longer an option... has anyone sucessfully camped for two on a weekend with just what you load on the bike? how to you keep from making the bike even more top heavy?

If anyone out there is using "Al's Cooler Rack"...(see link below) http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_cooler_rack.html with their 2nd gen RSV, can you please tell me the specific trailer hitch you're using with it? I am thinking about getting a luggage rack for the Venture and was wondering how many of you have one and how you like it? Also opinions on which one is the best to get. I'm just looking for general information, cost, how much weight it will carry etc. Thanks.

Drove down to the St Louis area to pick this bike up. Packed the kids in the car, rented a U-Haul 6x9 trailer, and headed down Friday after work. Stayed in a cheap hotel, purchased the bike, then went to the St Louis zoo for a few hours to let the kids play. I'm ready to buy a trunk rack for my '06. Found the following and was wondering if that's a good place to get it & is the price good? http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/catalogs/detail/26/198/398/20151/3/0/0/1/4/90/69/338/trunk-rack.aspx I recall a place being mentioned in some other post that is in the Seattle area that was apparently one of "the best" places to get such things but can't recall the name... anyone able to point me to it?

I thought I read somewhere that the the rear rack from the early Royal Star (1998) that mounts to the rear seat bolt and the license bracket would fit the RSTD but can't find the thread now. Could someone confirm that this works? I attached some photos of the rack for reference. Thanks! RSTDddog -
I noticed that some members bikes have a rack on the "gas tank" cover that actually covers the battery and air cleaner a little chrome rach that is similar to that on the trunk. Is that an aftermarket item or is it a part of the royale trim out package? I'd like to add one to my bike to make a tank bag easier to attach. -
I've been watching ebay and craigs list for the last few months, looking for the rack that sits on top of the moneypits trunk. No such luck. I don't suppose anybody out there has one sitting on a shelf in the shed?? Mine is too pitted to do anything with, about my only other options are to have this one sandblasted and powdercoated. Or finish with paint and use rubber plugs in the holes in the trunklid til I find one. Dont wanna go either route, but running out of options.Thanks, Joe.

Does anyone know if the travel trunk wing with the brake light and the travel trunk rack will both fit? I have the trunk rack coming in the mail but would love to have the extra brake light on the trunk.

RSTD Luggage rack fit RSV??

Looking for some advice....I just got the trunk rack and I noticed on the rack there is a sticker that says 10 lb limit....I am assuming that limit is actually meant for what the trunk can hold but is that 10 lb limit realistic?? I want to be able to put a bag on there for a trip but also don't want to damage the trunk. Can anyone help with limitations?? Thanks in advance... Dee

I would like to add a luggage rack on my 2007 Venture. The only one I've seen is on JC Whitney but is says it only fits up to 2003. So where do I get a decent one from? Ride Safe Phil -
I have some used 1st Gen stuff I found in the garage that is free for the price of shipping...I want to make it very clear this stuff is used and in need of some repair....there is a grille cover that need tabs repaired, a chrome trunk support rack that needs work, the lower right "Elbow" portion of the of the fairing...again...needs repair, and two of the intake tubes from the front vents.

Has anyone tried a Kuryakyn trunk rack for a Goldwing on a Venture? I have been trying to find a Yamaha one with no luck as they are on national backorder.

I was on my way in this morning to work and I spotted a red & black Venture on 24 north in the Randolph MA area around 6:30 in the AM. I live right around there and was wondering if anyone knew who this might be. He had a stuffed animal on the rack looked like a raccoon of sorts might have even been Scrat from Ice Age..
