  1. Shamelessly stolen from 1 of the billion places that have this posted. How many VR members does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb then post about it 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could've been changed differently 1 to move it to the Lighting folder 2 to argue and then move it to the Electrical folder 7 to point out grammar/spelling errors in post about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue whether it's a light bulb or lightbulb 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is Lamp 15 know it all who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take the discussion to the lightbulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to discuss the dangers of changing light bulbs without a professional opinion 5 to post a disclaimer that they are not light bulb experts, nor do they play one on TV and that anyone planning on changing their own light bulb should consult a professional 7 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then to post the correct URLs 3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add, "Me too." 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say, "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say, "Do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs." 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again 1 attention whore to try to change the topic of the thread to them 1 person to say how lame we all are for talking about light bulbs 7 people to post motivational posters about any given topic (including rainbow panda or motivational poster about said attention whore) 6 people to ask for pictures of the light bulb 8 people to point out if someone was dumb enough to buy that brand of light bulb they deserve to have an issue 4 people to say OP paid too much for the light bulb 8 people to post just a smiley or lol 2 people to quote every post/picture and make you read through everything again 1 person to post an image too wide forcing everyone to have a horizontol scroll __________________

  11. I cant get the bike out of the shop due to all the rain we are having here, it also needs a new battery which I will be picking up tomorrow. So for now these are the best pics I have of the finished job. As soon as the rain stops and I can get it up to the house I will have better pictures to post.
  12. It's time for us to have another chat here. Freebird not 2 weeks ago came on and mentioned about threads going south. Today I have closed 2 threads down due to folks coming on and taking them south. There are a couple of rules here, and for the most part, the greater majority of the membership have no problems following them. Political post are never good, they always go south as all of us have strong beliefs, I do too, way heavy (on the edge of being radical) than most of you know, but I dont express them here. We hear of tragedies and that sparks emotions in us, we then say our peace, usually before we take a chance to calm down and think about the consequesnces. It's understandable, but we are grown men and women, many over 40. Some like to fuel the fires and stir the pot, this is not acceptable. THINK before you post up something that MAY be misconstrewed. I know that most start out innocently as information, but they spiral quickley out of control and create hard feelings and get dander up. I am not here to preach to any of you, I am no better than anyone else on this site, but I will come on and give some of us a jerk and let folks know that the moderators wont tolerate this. For some reason this summer seems to be one of the worst for these kinds of threads that are usually kept for winter time when many of us can't ride. PLEASE think about what you post and the reprocussions that can happen by passing on info that stirs up emotions. Lets keep this in mind when we post and we wont have to seem heavy handed by closing or deleting threads. Thank you to all the members that contribute to this site. This place is enjoyable to come to because we try very hard to keep it light and enjoyable. I can speak for myself and the moderators in saying that you folks are very easy to work with. We dont have a lot of issues with the members....so THANK YOU
  13. Hey guys... Can you guys post the actual tire part numbers for your combos? I hear about the kumoho, but which tire? And apparently there's different sizes of the cobras and such?? I hear some saying to use the "thinner" version for the front some people use? I'm pretty interested in this. Especially for the reduced cost and increased milage- I'm really interested! I have a used bike and just don't know how old/many miles on the tires, plus, they're brickstones. if it's affordable, I'll switch now... rs
  14. Hey Folks, One of our members here Jack Tharpe (Zfrebird4) out of Ft. Collins Colorado is looking to find the 4 way emergency flasher switch on my former '86. If anyone has an extra one or knows where he could get one could you please post it here or PM him. Thanks for your help in this matter....Squid
  15. Can't figure out how to post to the restaurant section. Could this be made easier, maybe more would post there? NM is near me and NOONE has added anything. I know 2 excellent eateries.
  16. A quick notice here to let anyone wanting a horn bracket. I'm temporarly out of them but will be getting more made up after the International Rally. I've noted in my ad here that they're out of stock but will update it once I have more available. I'll update this post as well. Larry
  17. While at Vogel I was presented with a book written by Peter Egan, titled Leanings. Peter Eagan is a contributing editor of Cycle World, Road & Track and a few other mags. These are stories and articles taken from Cycle World and are very good reading. YammerDan presented me with the book, and stipulated that the book had to be passed on to any member who wanted to read it. I am the 4th to have it according to the signatures in the cover. So if you are interested in reading it just post your request here with your mailing address and I will forward it on to you, when you are finished you must sign it, inside the front cover, and post here for the next person to read. That simple. Dan, you forgot to sign it so I will "forge" your name in it. And a big THANK YOU, to the person who bought this book, it was great reading.
  18. I've received a couple of PMs about the restaurant review forum. People are asking how they post there? I'm sorry for any confusion but the reason you can't post there is because it is not finished yet. It will take me a few days to get it finished. Once it is done, it will be different than other forums here. There will be forms for each state and province. You will select the form for the state/province that the restaurant is in and fill it out. The results of that form will be automatically posted to the correct thread in that forum. You will not be able to post directly in those forums as you do others. The reason is that I think it should be limited to reviews and not with a lot of responses and comments. This will make it easier if a member wishes to print the thread from one or more states. They will get the list and not a lot of additional talk. There will automatically be a poll attached to each thread so folks will be able to see if other members have eaten there and what their thoughts were. I hope this makes sense and that it is acceptable to everybody. I will post here to let you know when it is ready to go. It may be as late as early next week though. I still have a lot of work to do there.
  19. I think that if a seller post an ad. it should go to the main menu (home) like the rest of the post do. then it will fall off with in a day. right now as it stands nobody has a clue if a member posts anything for sale or not. OR you have to say HEY *waving* I just posted a for sale item in the VentureRider Classifieds . Just a thought. Jeff (JUST LIKE THIS POST JUST JUMPED TO HOME)
  20. Check out the Motorkote comments an tracking post. They are running specials for a few days.
  21. OK, I know a few people have problems with that "other" venture club, but I and a lot of us here are a member of both. I believe in live and let live, the internet is big enough for everyone. But starting yesterday, I have been getting virus alerts when I try to go to the venturers.org site. It doesn't appear to be coming from my McAfee site advisor though, but from Google? Has the site been hacked and attacked? Can't seem to get through to post a note, even if I ignore the warning, it comes back with every click on the site. Never seen it before. thoughts? And please, no blasts, again, many of us are on and appreciate both sites.
  22. I am still in Charlotte at the nieces house and stopped at the local Yamaha dealership, Interstate Cycles. http://www.interstatecycle.com/ They have a MM on cosignment, with a bit over 11K on it for $8K. The bike is as near perfect as I have ever seen one and if I had the money I would buy in a second. It has saddlebag guards, a trunk rack, passing lights with visors on all turn signals and headlight. The bike is really a super nice machine and if your looking for a MM then I would highly recommend this one. Contact guy is Kevin and I mentioned to them that I would post it up on the site.
  23. I hate to hijack Freebirds post but I cannot post a new thread. I am in Carlsbad nm and bike will not start. How do I find out if we have any members here without going through all the list? also can bike be boosted? I am on the 2000 mm. When I prwess on starter button it just clicks and speedometer guage goes from right to left each time switch is pressed. any help is appreciated. thanks bossman
  24. Sorry - all in jest I assure you. FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, THIS IS MY 1,000TH POST ON THIS AMAZING, FANTASTIC, EDUCATIONAL, FRIENDLY WEB-SITE. What a wonderful way to waste away one's life!!
  25. noticed that you are using the new logo as your avatar. Here is one with a transparent background for you. I have tried to post it as an attachment but the system keeps converting it to a jpg and that loses the transparency. http://www.c-edesign.com/VR.GIF
